Ari thinks back to see if there is any legend she can recall that fits Mag's description, though nothing springs to mind. When she hears the name Old Nelda she asks, "Who might that be?"
And it is the Dwarf woman who answers. "She be the local Druid; been around these parts for...well, for as long as most of us remember. Hell, she oversaw half of us being born!" The woman realizes she has said a lot, and blushing slightly stops talking and nervously fidgets with her sideburns.

Grumble echoes Moan's thoughts, Better hope that if this is a warning that the way out is still sealed.
He asks Trell Aside from this entrance here, you run any other tunnels that mighta intersected whats beyond? We could be looking at a sealed front with a wide open backdoor.
It is Trell's turn to rub his whiskers as he thinks. "Jaggson, run fetch the mine plans, in me office over there."
One of the Dwarves nods and starts walking briskly toward the mining office.

Then the Quarry master turns to someone who has been unusually quiet. "Gnome! What think ye? Yer kind always be involved in magicks and such. Ye think ye might have a look at the door?" He says to Raz, hands on his hips.

The other Dwarves grumble about this decision, one so bold as to says, "First Elves and now Gnomes! What be next?"
Again, Trell silences those talking with a glare that could freeze water.

Grumble hears the dwarves make the comment about the outsider inflence and is about to say something in response but Trell's glare makes him hold off. He gives a small nod to the speaker in general while waiting for the mine plans.

Ari

Ari looks to the dwarven woman and nods offering her a smile in thanks for the information but otherwise remaining silent for now. Though she turns towards Raz when he is addressed awaiting his response.

Mag

Mag will also acknowledge the dwarven woman's useful input, he will ask in the direction of the dwarven woman, but to no one in particular, "Have the Uthgardt barbarians ever lived or raided in these parts? The more I think about it am now remembering that binding symbol is used by the Uthgardt. The Uthgardt sometimes created spirit mounds and this sure reminds me of that. If it is a spirt mound opening it would be a poor idea."

Trell nods, hands on hips, as Raz seemingly ignores his offer to come look at the runes. "Aye, the children of Uther have traversed these lands since before the recording of time. It be indeed possible fer them to settle along this coast line in ages past. This be no spirit mound that I know of. Most of those are easily marked by standing stones or great trees and such. We've been mining in this quarry for a long time. Could be the barbarians delved around here looking for fresh water or sommat else. Who knows!" Trell says, throwing up his hands in frustration. He glances at Raz one more time before saying, "All I know is it's slowing up the mining. Should we open it and deal with whatever is inside or cover it back up with stone and find another shaft?"

In his frustration, Trell slaps the sealed door...and the runes suddenly begin to glow!

Thurm

Thurm waited for his scholarly companions to evaluate the runes, but he was clearly growing impatient.

Grumble adjusts his shield and hoists his axe. No point bellyaching about it now. Looks like the debates about to be settled.

He takes a fighting stance and awaits whats coming.

When the runes begin to glow, the Dwarves step back and heft picks and hammers, unsure of what is about to happen. Barin calls the blessings of Marthammor Duin down upon the group, while Grumble and Thurm take fighting stances. Raz walks over to the door, notes the glowing runes, and begins to examine the door, the stone, and the passage. After a few minutes of tense scrutiny, he states, with seemingly undeniable authority, the following:
1/ The door is at least 200 years old, as are the runes.
2/ The door is actually damp and cold, likely there is water somewhere on the inside.
3/ The mechanism to open the door is the runes. Trace them backwards and the door should open.

Trell snorts and glances back at his workers and at the newcomers. And before Raz (or anyone else) can stop him, the stout quarry master begins to trace the runes backward! "Marthammor and Dumathoin protect us all!" he hollers as he traces the runes with a stubby gloved finger.

The ground around the quarry begins to slightly tremble, spreading further unease into the the workers. When Trell traces the final rune, the seal of the door pops and it begins to swing open for the first time in 200 years!

A wave of ages old air and dust blasts outward...and with it comes a quaking fear. A feeling of destitution and hopelessness, of impending and inescapable doom. The Dwarves of the quarry moan and turn a bit pale, breaking out in a sweat, literally trembling with...

An unseen force suddenly emerges and rips the door from its hinges! The Dwarves cry out to their gods to save them as Trell staggers back, his face slack, his eyes bulging as if seeing his greatest horror come to life! Cu is barking fiercely, backing up against Moan, literally pissing out of terror!
A wave of horror washes over all those standing round, threatening to send them to their knees or running for the hills!

(Save vs. Fear please for everyone!)

Grumbles roll:

Assuming that Grumble passes the save

Feeling the wave of fear wash over him and seeing the reaction of those around him Grumble does his best to aid the whole group.
He begins to Chant in a deep booming voice to Gorm Guluthyn. The dwarven song echoes around him to impart strength and courage to all.

Good chant example?

Run Away.jpg

Fear! Crushing, piss your pants fear! When the door, sealed for centuries is opened, a wave of fear washes over the group, sending many scurrying for safety! Trell is one of the first to knock his workers out of the way, hollering for his mama to protect him! Even so do most of the companions cower and try to find something to hide behind, their faces pale, their eyes wide and wild!
Ari, Mag, Moan, and Thurm feel like something is going to eat them and shit them over a cliff! They run, they fumble and fall, anything to get away from the hole in the ground! Cu stands his ground, barking and slobbering, piss running down his back legs...but he stands his ground.
So do Raz and Grumble, who grits his teeth and begins to chant in a deep booming voice, calling upon Gorm Guluthym to remove the fear and pour strength and courage to all around.
And not all of the Dwarves run, seven stand their ground, jaws set and weapons clenched...the back up Raz and Grumble as best they can. As Grumble chants, the Dwarves behind him grow stronger, bolder, as their fear begins to wane.
Suddenly, there is a disturbance in the dust and dirt of the shaft entrance...and something begins to take form!

The incorporal spirit wails and gnashes its teeth, but the staunch companions and Dwarves stand their ground. It shakes its hammer and rattles its chains, moaning and sending even more shivers up and down the spines of those who stand before it.
"Unholy delvers! Infidels! Defilers!" it hisses in whispering tones. "Begone! You have no power here!"

Raz starts speaking to Gond "Gond, Maker of Gears and Architect of Wonder, I humbly seek your guidance. May my hands be steady, my mind sharp, and my spirit alight with the fire of invention. Grant me the vision to see the possibilities, the strength to overcome obstacles, and the patience to refine my creations. May my work be a testament to your boundless creativity, and may the world benefit from the tools and wonders I bring forth. Let the oils of purification purge the rust from our souls, and lead us to perpetual motion."
