Kordrak

Stands up groggily, and takes a moment to get his bearings - "Good to see you fared better than me" - he congratulated his companions on chasing the creatures away.

Agreed - let's go toward the light :)

Mid Morning, Unknown Day and Year (High Summer)

After taking some time to assess their situation, the group resolves to head towards the strange purple light.

They follow the road, turning right at the fork while Dreary scouts from above - finding an unusually quiet island, seemingly devoid of most wildlife besides for small animals. Some stirrings can be seen in the forests, but nothing close enough to create concern for the travelers. He does, however, spot a large palisade wall at the end of the westward path.

It is an uneventful hour of traveling along the road. As they travel by the forests, Cían takes note of the flora, noticing that the trees and other plants seem stressed, green leaves shriveled and dying on the branches, and a distinct smell of wood rot in the air.

The purple light emanates from another set of five standing stones, standing in a circle about 40 feet in diameter, surrounded by a large, ring shaped ditch, itself surrounded by a ring of raised earth. Those familiar with the Gal Hills are well acquainted with these circles, which are often the sites of major druidic rituals. About half a mile further north, a small stream of water can be seen running east down the gentle slope of the island.

The stones are at least three times the height of a man, supporting an archway of stone all the way around. In the center of the stones is a 12-foot pillar of scintillating violet light, hovering just above the ground. The group stands cautiously outside of the henge circle, gazing on the strange phenomenon.

Caradoc

The bard first studies the earth that makes up the outer ring. He even takes some in his hand to determine whether it belongs to the site or, though it would surprise him, if it contains something buried within.

Second, he examines the ditch, though he assumes there will be little there to provide any information.

Once this is done, if no danger seems present, he investigates the standing stones in the same manner as before. He runs his fingers over them, searching for engravings or incised inscriptions that may have worn away over time.

Grom watches from his current position, taking in these wonders with great interest.

"Do you suppose the purple anomaly has something to do with the weird time situation here? And the dying vegetation? Do we need to put an end to this thing in some way?"

He communicates with his friend for a moment before translating to the others, flipping him an invertebrate dug up from the land.

"Dreary tells me there is a large palisade wall at the end of the westward path. Perhaps that is something we need to look at as well, while we can."

Grae

Grae listens to conversation, "Throwing a rock might be considered an act of aggression, and we don't know if it is an enemy yet. Cian can you give any insight of the significance of lights appearing in stone circles?"

Mid Morning, Unknown Day and Year (High Summer)

The group discusses what to do with the light, and Grae asks Cían about what he may know - but he unfortunately does not have any greater understanding of this phenomenon than anyone else.

As the group discusses what is to be done with the strange emanation in the stone circle, Caradoc decides to investigate the outside of the circle, taking samples of dirt around the area, finding it to be consistent with the soil in the surrounding area. He finds no obvious signs of anything buried, and given the toughness of the dirt he supposes that this mound was created a very long time ago by human hands. The dirt in the ditch shows similar signs.

He then enters the stone circle, examining it to see any signs of inscriptions - but he finds none. However, as he examines it, the others notice the pillar of light moving ever so slowly towards the bard.

Mid Morning, Unknown Day and Year (High Summer)

The strange light hovers towards Caradoc, and the others warn him and he steps out of the circle, back to the rest of the group some 15 feet away.

As soon as he does, it quickly stops in its tracks, standing still for a moment, almost giving the impression of looking around at something unseen - but after a minute, it returns to its original location in the center of the circle.

"Could also be some sort of means of communication? Or magical examination of those who approach?"

I think we need to risk it - Kordrak can step inside and allow the light to 'make contact' - what does the group think?

Caradoc

"Without doing anything, we can only speculate. I'd say we throw it something, before any of us risks his life. You're right that a stone wouldn't be the best option... What about some food? Do we have some nuts in our rations?"
