Discussion (out of character thread)
Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
Magarra seems to as well, do we go to an NPC? Suggestions?
Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
No way to know how this will shake out, but if everyone has a magic / blessed weapon and the mechanics of it aren't a factor, then Dramm is the one bound by Oath to slay an evil thing, so he'd like to make the death stroke.
Neil Gaiman: "I started imagining a world in which we replaced the phrase 'politically correct' wherever we could with 'treating other people with respect', and it made me smile."..."I know what you’re thinking now. You’re thinking 'Oh my god, that’s treating other people with respect gone mad!'"

Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
Okay by me. Makes his sword extra special.
Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
Not that I have any skin in this front-liners game, but I'm happy it worked out that way. Regardless of who ends up with the weapon Dramm is clearly the most narratively appropriate person to deal the final blow.
Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
Blessed is separate from Magic. His weapon will be both. This is how Holy Avengers are made: through faith and heroics.
Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
Working on the treasure. There's quite the pile of cash and gems, literal tons of weapons, tools, equipment, etc and some fun magic items courtesy of the random generator.
Oh, and a whole dragon corpse.

Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
Question for the group. Tobran, the Margrave's brother-in-law (I think) has offered to buy whatever of the dragon corpse we don't use. I'm thinking Morwen and Darfilla, and maybe others, can think of lots of uses. What do we want to keep, and what to sell?

Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
Morwen will definitely want some scales, maybe some blood... I'll think about it.
Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
I'm going to classify the dragon harvest by uses. It will be categories with values attached. As is the rule for magic items you do not get XP for their value, they are special enough already.
You will also have to decide if you want any trophies. The most important decision being the head. You could have it stuffed and mounted to impress visitors or you can harvest it for hardware. The teeth and horns can be ground up as reagents or used for weapons. The horns likewise can be turned into limbs for a bow or crossbow, made into signal or drinking horns.
Other pieces can be handy trophies as well or can be used as materials. There will be plenty of scales and the bones are destined for the alchemists mortar and pestle. The meat is inedible.
The blood is hard to obtain but I have assumed you brought a cart full of glassware and such so Darfilla can get to work.
There will be skill rolls required to see how much of everything you get.

Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
My assumption is that Darfilla is ecstatic about all this, and will certainly work with Morwen, and Earnan, if he's interested. The more our group gets, the better. I'm not sure how many more dragons we plan on taking on, so might as well make the most of it.
Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
Earnan will absolutely be happy to help; he knows his way around potions as well as arcane reagents.
(Cool as a dragonhorn bow sounds, I daresay it would be wasted on him, and those who had a significant hand in bringing the monster down, and will actually make best use of it, should get first dibs on that sort of thing. I'm not sure how many horns there are to go around.)
Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
JJh consider's Earnan's contribution to be significant. If not for the topside commando raid, the group would have faced a lot more kobolds early on, and there's a really good chance things would have woken up the dragon. That the beast was asleep is a big, if not the main, reason no one died.
Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
Oh yes, and he knows it too. But he didn't run the real risk with the fighters.Leitz wrote: ↑Wed Feb 26, 2025 9:30 pm JJh consider's Earnan's contribution to be significant. Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
scarik has posted the coin gained from the treasure. I have sent him a draft parsing of who gets how much in coin, but it's only a draft. My math is always iffy and I've made mistakes before. Once he approves/corrects, and gives the XP, I'll post the results.
If anyone cares, the program I use is written in Python, and hopefully very easy to real.

Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
If Earnan says the fire risk is too high, JJh will send some goblins home to bring a hundred strong kin and lots of buckets. They can make a bucket brigade and water the ground.
Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
From what Scarik narrated, I’m not sure any amount of water will solve it. I guess the hill is so deeply dried that it’ll suck it all away like a sponge and the grass will still be parched. But we can set the goblins to clearing the vegetation.
Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
In Summer the whole region is parched of water in general as all the little streams dry up. Even the bogs near Bleakhill are starting to crack this time of year. Of the 4 forts, only Eastfort stays flush though the season.
Clearing the vegetation is more practical. The goblins are accustomed to harvesting the grasses to burn in winter and to make straw for bricks.

Between Earnan, Erikir, and the Goblins, if water can be found then we have the people to find it.scarik wrote: ↑Fri Feb 28, 2025 8:41 pm In Summer the whole region is parched of water in general as all the little streams dry up.
