William chuckled. "Then let's go down as a group and kick the rotten door wide open."

"If someone takes action against us, then that opens a window of opportunity for us to trace the actions back to their source." Jaelah shrugs. "Perhaps we are offering bait, but in a different manner."

Garvin says cheerfully "Some of us are just better at being bait. That an' it saves us puttin' the Doc on the line".
He then takes a moment to eye Aster appreciatively "Blimey, you're lookin' particularly lovely Countess - 'ave you done somethin' with your barnet?"
Re: 010: Off to The Deeps
William frowned. "If someone takes action against us we will dig them out root and branch! If we cause enough chaos and change quickly they may very well panic and show their hand."Tiglath wrote: ↑Mon Feb 10, 2025 4:30 pmGarvin says cheerfully "Some of us are just better at being bait. I had to go looking on this one as the literal definition was a real doozy.Tiglath wrote: ↑Mon Feb 10, 2025 4:30 pmGarvin says cheerfully "Some of us are just better at being bait. That an' it saves us puttin' the Doc on the line".

Barnet: any of the threadlike pigmented structures that grow from follicles beneath the skin of mammals and consist of layers of dead keratinized cells.
A little more digging found the slang reference for hair, so I'll go with that.

Re: 010: Off to The Deeps
The trip down goes without issue, but the moment you hit customs, Walt and Arkar throw a red flag and they shunt you to the side while someone is summoned to deal with you.
That someone turns out to he Captain Evans, the woman that runs downport security, and the person that Walt and Arkar dealt with the last time. She is a woman in her early fifties with short blonde hair cropped tight on the sides that has a weathered look about her and her eyes speak of experience with the darker side of society. The look she is giving Walt and Arkar is not friendly.
"I thought we had an understanding, but it seems I was mistaken. Why have you returned and why shouldn't I toss you back out on your asses?"

"Honestly Captain, what you said was 'You’re free to go but if you cause any more trouble, I’ll lock your assess under the jail. Give my people your comm code and go before I change my mind.'.
We are down here with our crew on leave."
With a honest humble reasonable, not smart alec face.

"Uh huh. What I said and what you should have gotten from what I said are two different things. After the trouble you've already caused me, I put a hold on the two of you. I'm not convinced I should lift it for a pair of loose cannons. If you want in, you'll have to convince me."ateno wrote: ↑Wed Feb 12, 2025 4:55 pm "Honestly Captain, what you said was 'You’re free to go but if you cause any more trouble, I’ll lock your assess under the jail. Sometimes you have to play things out before you get to roll. This is one of those times.ateno wrote: ↑Wed Feb 12, 2025 6:16 pm "As I said we are here with our crew on leave, we have no ill intent to anybody, we plan on following all laws and promise to not cause you any problems.

She seems reluctant, but will approve you entry. "If you cause the slightest bit of trouble, I will arrest you and toss you under the security department holding cells. Clear?"

(OOC: The "Common Language Translation Service" is restored!

Butcher's = butcher's hook = look (so to view or study)
and belatedly
Barnet = Barnet fair = hair
not to be confused with "syrup" (of figs) or "Irish" (jig) which would be a hairpiece... or wig.
Apologies for my last lapse - weekend fatigue from Castala 1813. Check OOC for a foreign language guide).

Walt remained silent and let Arkar do the talkin’. Anything Walt could have said would have just made the situation more strained.
”Thank you ma’am.” and tries to give a reassuring smile as he leaves.

Garvin gives Arkar a crafty wink "Nicely played. I once ran into some similar difficulty on Collace..." Glancing at Jaelah he smiles with good natured bonhomie "That was one of those encounters you've just got to play out on yer own. Seems they can all work out for the best...".
