Meta game, scarik keeps me informed if I'm trying to pull too many NPCs into the conversation. The head count has been reduced, based on his recommendation, and the army may be there more for keeping things away from the party as they get to the dragon hill than anything else. We should be good to go on that point.CarrieVS wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2025 10:09 pmFair enough, this situation probably does call for it and I don’t object to the occasional bigger thing.
But I hope that can stay the exception rather than the rule. I signed up for an adventuring RPG and I have limited interest in a government simulator (it’s not sharing the XP that troubles me.)

Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
Normally I push ahead on Sunday but I was hoping to get a post from Ladki.
I have officially assigned Gurav as her henchdwarf and adjusted their sheets to be in line with the other PCs and henches.
That said I'm pushing on tomorrow regardless so finalize your plans. There is some owed downtime for Darfilla (Leitzs potion maker) but she won't be able to make as many potions as I believe you will want unless you delay going after the dragon while other mages help out.

Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
Flame resistance first, then Healing if there's time. My guess is not everyone will go forward into combat range. Happy to have more info, though.scarik wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2025 12:54 am That said I'm pushing on tomorrow regardless so finalize your plans. Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
Ladki, I'm enjoying the insight into Maggara's thought processes. My character is courting the Margrave's daughter, and he has been woo-ing her for months. He does actually care about her, so there's a lot of similarity.
Sadly, she wasn't able to make the adventure so I can't quite do them justice at the moment. Rest assured, he will get romantic when he can!

Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
Now is time to handle the remaining outstanding issues so we can get this dragon slaying going.
Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
Was a bear of a weekend. Didn't get a chance to work on the game at all.
Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
Sorry to hear about your weekend! I spent much of mine chilling in shorts and a t-shirt.

In other news, start a new job in a couple of weeks and will be moving half way across the country. I should be able to make posts by phone, but probably won't be as verbose. If I'm too concise to be clear, please let me know.

Neil Gaiman: "I started imagining a world in which we replaced the phrase 'politically correct' wherever we could with 'treating other people with respect', and it made me smile."..."I know what you’re thinking now. You’re thinking 'Oh my god, that’s treating other people with respect gone mad!'"

If anything in that post requires explanation please ask. I'm very tired and wanted to move forward.
Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
There's a military axiom, "No operations plan (OPLAN) survives first contact." This was also well put by Mike Tyson: "Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth."
JJh's education is the Korean equivalent of West Point, with a basis on Sun Tzu's "Art of War." In that he's a very driven hands-on leader, I'm seeing some Ranger School type experience in there as well. He certainly has the "run to the din of battle" mindset, much more than the "sit back and send signals" style.
His plan is pretty simple:
1. Enable everyone to do their best.
2. Go kill the dragon.
For example, the fear that is often associated with dragons may force non-Heroic characters to flee. It's not that they want to run, but the big powerful lizard in front of them triggers the tiny but powerful lizard section of their brain, and they can't fight. Drotik is one such person, and JJh knows the man is loyal, but human. So the plan is that the non-missile troops like JJh, Dramm, Maggara, etc, move forward into melee range. The moment before they get there, or the moment the dragon looks like it's waking up, Drotik will shoot it. He may flee right after that, but he'll get a shot off.
Everyone else, PC and NPC alike, are the same. We've done our best to do our best, now we just have to do it as a team.

Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
Seperately, scarik and I thought that Rolton and Darfilla might form something of a romance. Might as well see what happens.

All this love and romance gives Morwen the ick.
Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
Why can't they just lay their eggs in the roost and get back to work like everyone else, right?

Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
Seriously... that being said, apologies for not posting more, although ot's because Morwen is more effective with magic and she doesn't want to be the one to wake the dragon.

Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
I had a post that seems to have failed to work. It took me an hour and I don't have the wherewithal to try again today.
Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
Understood. I tend to make longer posts in a text editor, fix my spelling and comma usage, and the cut and paste it into the message reply.
Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
I will be traveling this weekend, with limited connectivity. Likely able to read all those great posts where the PCs slay the dragon and find bazillions in treasure, but won't be able to contribute much.
@scarik, from Sat AM until I can reply fully, please run JJh & Co.
