New Beginings

#1 Post by Rex »

Summary

Algrim (Dwarf), Arngeir (Ivinian), Beryl (Dwarf), Ingram (Harnian), Lharzin (Dwarf), and Murgar (Ivinian) were pulled through a Basari point (fairy crossing) arriving near the ancient Dwarven city of Kiraz on the other side of the Isle of Harn at a different time (night vs day). The amount of time shift is still unknown. After doing some exploring, they discovered an ancient and untouched Dwarven royal hunting lodge that once belonged to the King of Kiraz.

While exploring a hoard of treasure in a secret room is discovered and a weird sensation came over several members of the party (Arngeir, Lharzin, and Murgar at the same time. Lharzin suspects it is a ghost or similar presence but that is currently unconfirmed, it is possible that it was some other sort of disturbance of a magical, religious or ethereal nature.

As the party were discussing this a noise is heard just past the secret entrance/escape route and an Ivinia is discovered sneaking into the lodge from the back entrance. It is unknown if he is alone, and he seems to be highly agitated. He claims his name is Aglegory Fisk which none of you recognize.

Lharzin is glad they were able to intercept this timely interloper before he could loot a dwarven heritage site. (Not considering what they're doing, looting it as dwarves, as looting.) She lets the others decide the human's fate and returns to the room with the spectral energy, attempting to commune with it and learn more of its nature and their path regarding it.

Aglegory Fisk

"Is this place Iracu? I was part of an expedition to locate it and we were cursed from the beginning, everyone but me are dead now and I am lost and having to hunt for food. Was following the river down out of the mountains when I realized this stream had clearly been re-routed into this cave long ago and decided to investigate it. There is safety in numbers and the wilds here are crawling with Foul Spawn and the heavens above with Wyvern."

Arngeir

The Ivinian nods at Algrim's words "I've heard not of this Iracu, but I do not think this is it. Unless Iracu is a place of the dwarves?"

Sorry, I should have added a little common knowledge on Iracu.

The Dwarves and locals to Western Harn would know the following:

Iracu mine was a fabulously wealthy mine worked by the Khuzdul of Kiraz until the Carnage of Kiraz. Legend has it that in its prime Iracu was the deepest, richest gold, silver, and mythral mine in history. There are many stories of it being haunted and/or inhabited by demons. Its exact location is unknown but there are many rumors.

"Iracu is a mine of some sort, dwarf I think. If this isn't it, it doesn't mater as long as you are willing to help me find my way back to Tharda. I am a capable warrior, willing to add my ax to the defense of all in exchange for some guidance home and food when necessary."

Aglegory Fisk

Fisk joins the other, "Wow, it looks amazing in here. Would be pretty easy to defend at least."

Ingram

Ingram keeps a weary eye on Fisk as it intermingles with the party.

Murgar

"Should we at least make plans for what we are going to do next? Maybe rest here for a day or so?"

Arngeir

"Yes, a plan is needed. Rest here and explore for day or two. Then, when weather is looking to be good, go to find nearest village and way home. Still think following the river is best way to find people."

After she finishes trying to commune with or learn from the spirit/magic feeling, Lharzin joins in the conversation. "Let us not ignore fate," she says. "The portal sent us here for a reason. Perhaps it is us who must re-open Kiraz and lay claim to Iracu Mine. Certainly a grander fate than what awaits back in Burzin."

Arngeir

Arngeir thinks for a moment, then nods. He gets out a set of stones. "See what the stones have t tell me."

He starts by invoking a prayer to Ylina to help him as he seeks knowledge:

Percentage: [1d100]=52
MS, +20% to skill

Once his prayer is complete he empties the bag of stones and tries to divine their purpose and future here:

Percentage: [1d100]=97
MF, the stones aren't talking, or he's not listening.

Beryl

Beryl will let the mystics figure out what this place wants from us. Every cave and tunnel has a desire, the secret is figuring it out.

Murgar Runecraft [1d100]=76

"It seems they are not willing to speak to me either. Perhaps we have another way to learn something from this place?"
