He calls down to those at the prison hatch. "Remember that vision from Magda and be careful. Something attacked Skavi."

Kain remarks to Magda and Taibhse. "They've got this right? We should stay here until they need help. Wait...did Akhilieus jump in?" Kain rubs his eyes and looks again.

Xenos

Sik nods with approval at his leader's bravery. "Xenos, I think either one of us stronger men should stay up top in case we need to open the door again or lift people to safety. But Akhilleus may need help as well. Any preference?"

"You're the better warrior Sik, you go."

[silifi]

Sik gives Xenos a hardy handshake, then follows Akhilleus, climbing down into the strange gallery.

Akhilleus

"Fuck it." Akhilleus jumps down. First thing he does, he unsheathes his sword.

I am hoping you mean this figuratively and Akhilleus is climbing down - it is a 50 foot drop.

I had to go back to find that post, but yes, you're exactly right

She still has her staff, waterskin, and two pouches, but currently she does NOT have any rope, spikes, rations, or some other things. Or any idea how to get back to where they are

Kain... turns to Magda. "I'm sorry about Skavi. Drest may owe his life to him. And you."

"Thank you, Kain. I hope it is not too late for Drest."

At the top of the shaft, Magda continues to grip her lantern while watching the brave Kimmerian make his way downward.

Knowing something must be done, Akhilleus sees the others uncertainty so he dives into action, almost literally.

Leaping through the circular iris doorway to the stack of compartments below, he grabs onto the top one and begins to climb downwards as if on a ladder with 6 feet of space between the rungs.

While the others watch, Sik hops downwards as well, reminding someone, anyone, to stay up top, concerned about the lack of oxygen below. When they reach the floor, they get a better look at the pair of figures lying on the ground. One appears to be a haggard zombie-like creature that is no longer functioning, and the other appears to be a half naked man covered in tattoos. The man is also unmoving, with a very blue-skinned complexion, who looks a lot like their missing Scout.

Akhilleus

Akhilleus' first instinct is to bend down toward his friend's body to confirm if he's alive, even though it doesn't seem likely. But he ignores that instinct. Instead, weapon firmly in hand, he looks around. Whatever killed his friend is surely still here.

"Drest is here. He looks dead, damn it! He managed to kill a... undead, before falling. Anyone who can heal, come down now. I'm going to make sure there's nothing... alive around here, but we need more light." However, he doesn't move from his position.

"Be very careful, Sik. Let's not stray from this area, in case we attract something, if it hasn't heard me already."

"I can barely hear them, but did he say undead?" Kain looks to Magda. "Your vision!"

Nodding his head, Kain seems impressed. "Interesting magic, that. We should talk more when we're not assisting a prison break. I keep waiting for the jailers to show up."

Kain looks back up the stairs into the darkness, half expecting something to show.

Cyril shares a glance with Kain and then starts to carefully make his way down to the prone bodies. "Healing on the way...check his pulse...two fingers under the jaw line. Does he have a heartbeat?"

Sik grabs hold of Drest, not yet sure if he is alive or dead.

"Whether fallen or not, I won't leave him in this place," he insists, throwing the scout over his back and attempting to begin the climb back up.

OOC: test of strength if needed? I assume so can lift him but not sure if I can carry him while climbing.

Akhilleus looks around the narrow circular shaft-like room in astonishment, never seeing anything like this before. Nor has he seen anything like the multitude of different creatures still entombed inside their clear covered coffins. Fortunately, he only spots 2 of these lids that have been forced open, presumably by the pair now laying on the floor.

As Cyril starts to make his way down the stack next, Sik hoists his blue tinted friend over his shoulder, willing to try the climb back up hindered rather than leave a comrade's body behind. As soon as Drest hits his shoulder, his diaphragm is constricted enough to rush some of the fresh oxygen into his lungs, causing the unconscious Scout's body to jerk suddenly as he starts to breathe again, and just in the nick of time.

Once Cyril is on his way down the stack of coffins, the iris eye door they leaped through suddenly snaps shut again, separating the group below from their friends who waited above. Sik looks up at the closed door with a smirk on his rugged face, glad a few remained up above at his request.

"Quick, help me reopen the door."

Xenos tries to reopen the eye door.

Sik grits his teeth and climbs up, hoping that Xenos and the others can open the hatch quickly - suspecting they may not have much time.

"I can barely hear them, but did he say undead?" Kain looks to Magda. "Your vision!"

Magda nodded somberly to the cleric while squinting through the round hatch. "Too far down for me to see if that other body is... the one I saw. But if it were undead, we can hope it put Drest under some malady rather than killed him."

As further events unfold below, she cries out, "Aha! He lives after all, well done my brave Sik − eep!" she makes the latter exclamation when the iris valve snaps shut.

After a startled moment she answers Xenos, "I will aid you." Handing her lantern off to Taibhse, she lends her strength to her kinsman if needed (but hoping it'll open as easily as the first time). (ST 14, Test 3 in 6)

"By Helios!" exclaims the Cimmerian warrior. He climbs back up as far as he can, trying to open the door by any means.

Some throws just in case.

He turns back to the pit when Magda exclaims. "Who closed it? Where are they?" He scans the area for anyone or any timing mechanisms. Finally, he concludes: "Ah. A trap prison as well. How very efficient of them."

Kain looks to Taibhse. "And now we've split ourselves even further. Keep extra wary." Kain pulls his weapon and prepares for the next step.

"Let me know if you need another hand down there, Magda and Xenos."

Cyril ignores the door closing above for a moment as he checks out the status of their formerly lost companion on Sik's shoulder

"Drest - Can you hear me?"

Before starting to climb up, Cyril looks around in the dim light for Drest's gear.

I have a Cure Light Wounds or even a Cure moderate wounds ready if we find out how injured Drest is.
Also - there are no other doors (i.e. on the walls) besides the roof hatch right?

Sik quickly learns that he simply cannot climb back up the vertical stack with an unconscious man slung over one shoulder.

Cyril looks the Scout over, finding him alive, though just barely. He is still dressed and with full gear, so he doesn't need to look around for long.

As those above simply open the iris door again, those below see no other means to exit this horrific room filled with creatures they hope remain inside their clear covered coffins.

Far above the others and practically all alone now, Kain is certain the jailors running this terrifying prison will show up at any moment. And the Cleric is usually spot on with such assessments.

"Please, Cyric, quick. Cure Drest. He can tell us what he saw." He still looks around, with his weapon in his hand, given that it's practically impossible to force the door from below.
