Law of the Gun OOC
Re: Law of the Gun OOC
Of the 260 Rifle and Pistol ammo from the loot pile, DT would ask for a proportional share (52 rounds: 24 rifle & 28 pistol). From those, he'd select all .44 rounds since his newly acquired Henry rifle and his revolvers all use .44.

Re: Law of the Gun OOC
Does Andreas take an SAR? If so, does he keep his DAR or put it in the pool?

Post #595 with the inventory list updated.
Andreas takes an excellent horse and adds his fair horse to the pool. (That's how the group has done it in the past. If he doesn't trade in his fair horse, please let me know.
From asking around, weapons would sell in Fredericksburg at 40% of the rulebook's retail prices. The same for horses. Exception: Excellent horses would sell at 30%. There just isn't much demand for high-dollar horses in town. In Austin, items would probably sell at 50% of book prices.

Everyone 24 rifle and 28 pistol rounds.

DT's XP was spent on Increasing his medical skill level 1 and finishing learning the Tracking skill (10 with the modifier applied...original roll 5 modifier 5 applied per page 10 and table 1 pg 7) +1 to Tracking. Character sheet fully updated

Re: Law of the Gun OOC
The riders are in the town of Fredericksburg, Texas, the morning after the Shepherd Gang fight. June 19, 1873.
Some things to address and take care of.
a) William can roll or RP or both to try to influence Wells Fargo's decision.
b) Is Charlie trading his horse Pict for an excellent horse (either Doos's or the other, to be rolled up)? Or staying with his original? If Doos still has the previous horse's stats, please post them in OOC. If not, I can find them, with a little time.
c) Correction: DT needs a night's sleep and six days to get back to full Strength. Doos does need seven weeks.
d)
f) DT proposed selling the horses and guns in Frederickburg at a presumably lower rate than in Austin. Austin is around a 65-75 miles ride along the (presumably now peaceful) Austin-Frederickburg highway. Y'all can do the math for the hours that would be required for the ride.
g) DT wants to discuss with Nimitz what Wells Fargo knows of the fifth, unconfessed stage robbery.
h) Some PCs haven't spent their XP to "level up." (Please see the Experience Points thread). And they don't have to right now, they can save them for later if they'd like.
That's a lot. But by default, everyone can do e) Rest up, heal up. If you dogs keep finding gunfights and bounty money, I expect this may come up again along the way. Wherever the place may be.

e) Dog-tired Andreas has left the group to get some rest somewhere in his hometown of Fredericksburg. DT will check into the Prince Frederick Hotel. The other PCs have the same option or to check for rooms at Gruber's Christian Boarding House.Thumper wrote: ↑Thu Dec 26, 2024 7:07 am Doos, I’ll be healed up in a week. But, while I’m still injured, I should take a supporting role in the investigation. I’m thinking you should stay focused on settling our claim. Perhaps William should aid you in that effort while Gidean, Andreas, Charlie, and I begin investigating. See where that might lead. But let’s get the contract with Nimitz settled today and get some rest. We can start looking into the fifth robbery tomorrow morning while you and William present your brief tomorrow and start negotiating.
What do y’all think?

Re: Law of the Gun OOC
I'm too groggy to try to think lawyer things, but William will talk to the Wells Fargo folks, pointing out that the cash that was found is fungible, and there's no way to tell who it originally belonged to. And while it can be seen as ill-gotten gains for the bandits, there is no way to authoritatively tell if it even came from the stage passengers, that money might have already been spent, and this could have been the proceeds of horse thieving. and something, something, chain of custody, actual possession, etc. Therefore, your honor, I refer to the precedent of Finders vs. Keepers.
Law 12 [1d20]=9 Success
Bureaucracy 17 [1d20]=11 Success
William will attempt to get a room at the Prince Frederick.

Update
a) William can roll or RP or both to try to influence Wells Fargo's decision. William successfully added to Doos's arguments and honed them up. Item done.
b) Is Charlie trading his horse Pict for an excellent horse (either Doos's or the other, to be rolled up)? Or staying with his original? If Doos still has the previous horse's stats, please post them in OOC. If not, I can find them, with a little time. Charlie takes an Excellent horse and adds his Good horse Pict to the pool. Please roll the horse's Type, Attributes, Skills and Traits (p.56).
c) Correction: DT needs a night's sleep and six days to get back to full Strength. Doos does need seven weeks.
d)
e) Dog-tired Andreas has left the group to get some rest somewhere in his hometown of Fredericksburg. DT will check into the Prince Frederick Hotel. The other PCs have the same option or to check for rooms at Gruber's Christian Boarding House. DT and William are headed to the hotel. Other PCs?

Comments/decision needed.
g) DT wants to discuss with Nimitz what Wells Fargo knows of the fifth, unconfessed stage robbery. Doos has presented his and William's finalized arguments about the parties' claim to the recovered cash. Nimitz said he would consult with the Austin office. You can assume that Nimitz won't discuss an investigation of the fifth robbery with a potentially adverse until a resolution is reached.
h) Some PCs haven't spent their XP to "level up." (Please see the Experience Points thread). And they don't have to right now, they can save them for later if they'd like. No hurry for this. Just a reminder. (After the holidays and when back to normal is fine, of course).

Re: Law of the Gun OOC
Thanks, but I'm good. Just a LOOONG few weeks.
I found out that my mom is moving across country in a few weeks on Christmas (from WA to AL!).
And I was trying to get ahead on some reading for my history degree - I started a history Masters in Nov!
Top it off with a nice bit of insomnia, sprinkle in a bit of PNW gloomy grey, and it leaves Red very Blah.
