The Delivery 6/20 [Tinu, Morvith, Ferd & Robin]

Mazie plans to stay the rest of today and tomorrow, and then return to Slateholm by the same path.

Robin and you all are surrounded by the locals who take you to The Green Bottle where you are treated to food and drink, "On the house!" Mazie shakes her head at this, and goes off to do her business.

Before things get too rowdy, you have a chance to hear some things, some fact, some rumors:

1. Those Kobolds came from The Gash (the canyon just west of the village) so there must be a way up and down.
2. We left all sorts of treasure down there when we returned to the surface all those years ago.
3. Crops of all sorts have been good this year, even the herbs of the forest are in a plentiful supply.
4. A tribe of Orcs has been seen moving around the lake north of here and moving this direction.
5. Old Samuel has a map to where a treasure horde is hidden.

Robin the local boy know which are rumors and which are true, so Helvorn open the spoiler and if the others ask you, you can steer them right.

1 and 3 are true, 2 and 4 are rumors but probably true, and 5 is widely spread rumor that is very unlikely, Robin is Old Samuel's friend and would surely know if he had such a map!

There's much to be learned in a new town and amongst new folk, so Morvith will Carouse as well:

After a hard night's drinking and revelry, the young wizard wakes up on the edge of the rooftop of the highest building in town, clutching a wand of unknown provenance!

Robin hangs out with the adventurers during the night. He is a short and intense fellow with curious brown eyes but a friendly demeanor. During the night he asks. "That is a good job taking out the kobolds. You know there are a lot more of them down in the canyon we call the Gash. There are also old treasures we left behind when we were driven out of the canyon. I've never gone down there because it is very dangerous alone. But I could help you guys find a way down there if you like. If we go though let's make sure we bring healing potions unless one of you can cast that magic to heal."

Morvith rubs his chin thoughtfully, blinking bleary eyes. "What sorts of treasures? Know anybody who actually has been down there?"

Sometime early the next morning, Tinu cracks open an eye and takes a bleary look around. She is tipped back in a chair against the wall at the rear of the tavern. She remembers drinking and carousing with her new friends last night and getting tired and deciding to tip her chair back, but that's the last she remembers. That Halfling Stout must have been a lot stronger than she thought! In desperate need of relieving herself she stands and wobbles to the toilets behind the building. Along the way she notices her purse seems a bit lighter today...

Something cold and wet hitting his face disturbs Ferd's pleasant dream and he opens his eyes blinking at the bright sunlight. He's lying at an angle on a hard uneven surface and with a start he realizes his at the very edge of a tile roof! He pushes himself back from the edge and realizes he's tightly holding something in one of his hands...squinting he looks at it wondering where this came from, and how he got on this roof.

Shiny sleek and smooth a wand of some sort is in his hand. It appears to be metal, but unlike any he has held before...much lighter and a shiny gray, if gray can be shiny. There are Runes engraved along the wand's surface, he can make them out and h thinks he can activate it. Vaguely he remembers wanting to try it out, but not how he came by it.

His head hurts. He needs to pee and to get off this roof!

Morvith grumbles as he is pulled from a dream where he is just about to read a passage from a book that will explain the mysteries of magic by a thumping scrambling sound coming from somewhere just below where he is sleeping. This is no bed he thinks to himself it's hard and lumpy! He opens one eye and closes it quickly as bright sunlight hurts it, then cautiously opens both eyes and looks at the pointer he was using in his dream....he is holding a wand! It is dark black stone with white tips, heavy in his hand and pulsating with mana! This is more powerful than any he has ever held before...

Then he realizes he is lying on a rooftop, a tile rooftop, the Halfling Tavern from the night before, and that's Ferd scrambling around below him pushing himself back from the edge of the roof.

Wand of Flying made of obsidian with ivory tips (13+ to cast) and gain 2XP

Morvith has no recall of how he got his hands on such a powerful artifact or how he came to be on this rooftop!

Robin wakes with a start! He looks around, he is atop the Tavern. This isn't such a surprise for him for he has often come up here to see the stars and has fallen asleep up here before in the flat space next to the warm chimney. He hears scrambling and muttering coming from below him down the edge of the steep tile roof and sees two of the friends he made last night. The halfling calling himself Ferd who bragged about being a 'Wanted Man' and the tall one...Morry, or something like that...who was doing magic tricks in the bar. He vaguely remembers telling them about Old Samuel and the three of them went to visit the old man last night...he thinks, but he can't quite remember if they got there or not. Something else happened and then the three of them were back at the Tavern, but they wanted to try something and then he can't remember anything than resting his head against the chimney and going to sleep. He drank way too much last night, the Elfish women wouldn't stop buying him drinks. Everytime the locals bought a round, she'd buy him two. Huh! Oh, yes, he drank way too much last night!

The four of you certainly had an eventful night of carousing! Two wands gained and a couple of gold pieces lighter. The four of you need to talk over what happened and what happens next. Mazie is busy with her business today, but she plans to be back on the road to Sternholm tomorrow with Morvith, Ferd and Tinu as bodyguards. Today, though, you have to do as you wish.

So, what do you do now?

Tinu uses the facilities and then returns to her room to quickly wash up and change into her armor and travel clothes. Then, she looks for her companions.

Ferd rubs his head... the local ales had more of a kick than he expected. He moves to the backside of the roof to avoid attention from below. He admires the wand and, reading the runes, gives it a flick. His feet lift off the roof tiles.

"Well... it answers the question of how I got to the roof, I suppose..."
He drifts to the ground, then brushes off his clothes, making sure nobody is about before taking a leak against a leeward wall.

[Enoch]

Morvith, by contrast, examines his wand for a long time, his feet dangling over the eave of the roof, then tucks it into his belt and looks around for a safe way down. "Ferd, wait up. Do you see a way down?"

[Marullus]

"Yeah," answers Ferd, re-tying the laces on his trousers, "Just float down!" He grins broadly. "
...or jump into a haystackor something. "

Robin groans softly and then watched in amazement as Ferd floated down off of the roof. That was a pretty good trick that he wanted to learn. Meanwhile he climbed down the normal way using the trellis. Robin called up to Morvith. "You can come down this way. If you guys are interested in the Gash we should make some plans and get going after breakfast."

Morvith nods blearily and carefully makes his way down the trellis behind Robin.

Morning of 6/22

Ferd floats down to the ground, thinking it's a snap to use this wand! Morvith, however, is a little perplexed by the runes carved into the wand he is holding. He's not sure exactly what it does, it's clearly magical, and it's got something to do with the Realm of Air Magic, floating, flying, he's not exactly sure. It is going to take sometime to study and figure this out.

OOC: I rolled rolled 21 for Ferd to use and 9 for Morvith to figure out the runes on his wand.

Tinu comes out of the tavern just as Morvith makes it down from the roof and joins Robin and Ferd. The four of them gather in the not yet busy main street of Jesselton. Morvith spots Mazie coming down the street strolling along with a slightly taller than normal Halfling.

Robin recognizes the tall Halfling as Calif Swingsong, the operator of the small town's Apothecary.

Mazie greets the group, "Morning, everyone. From what I hear you all had a rollicking good time last night. This is Calif Swingsong, my counterpart here in Jesselton, he runs the Apothecary here."

Calif nods at you and speaks to Robin, "I see you've found some folk that you fit in with, young Robin."

After some chat, Mazie eventually says, "I'll finish my business here today and we will leave for Slateholm early tomorrow morning. If your looking for something constructive to do today, I'd suggest going out into the woods over to the west (the other way from The Gash...and the Kobolds and Goblins) and see if you can find some plants and herbs."

"Calif and I will both pay you if you can bring back some of these. I understand there has been a good spring and many of these should be around out there." she takes a parchment from her pocket and hands it to Tinu. There are a number of fungi, plants and herbs written down on the parchment along with drawings and descriptions of each.

Tinu recognizes almost all of the items on Mazie's list. They are the sort of plants and herbs she uses when she makes salves and potions. These are almost all used for healing or pain relief. A couple of plants she doesn't recognize, but the descriptions and drawings are enough so she could identify them if she came across them.

OOC: You have a few choices on how to spend the day. Go herb picking for cash, go down The Gash and explore, try to figure out what these two wands do, where you got them, and how to use them, explore the village, visit Ol' Samuel or anything else you come up with.

Tinu glances over the list, noting which plants she isn't familiar with. "I need to gather as much of these as I can carry, including some for us to have our own healing potions. If at least one of you comes along, that would help me considerably."

Ferd agrees to go with Tinu.
"Some sure coins as pay sound right, today." He would like to get more of a feel for things before going into the Gash...
