009: Talking Turkey at the Bartizan

Dzofin had been busy running the grav bike at the red line and attempting to pull as many Gs as he and equipment could manage. When the firing started he swooped back into range to watch the destruction. When the rumbling ceased he landed the vehicle in a corner and took the control activation unit. Then he went and sought out Prema. "What new miracles do these Imperial wizards promise?" He glanced at the equipment still lying about from the demonstration. "Now all they need to do is make something that fits a Vargr."

The redhead leans down and picks up one of her heavy gauss rifles. "Maybe you can have Doctor Metz modify one of these to suit your preferences." She holds the weapon out to him.

"Where is this Imperial Grand Wizard lurking? The Vargr must not be left behind in this stampede of wonders and the birth of a nation."

Jaleah, who has been standing close to Prerna and T'Lia with her family, hears the conversation and turns to Dzofin. "No one will be left out, not even the Zhodani. Where there is abundance, there is no need for war."

Jaleah, who has been standing close to Prerna and T'Lia with her family, hears the conversation and turns to Dzofin. "No one will be left out, not even the Zhodani. Where there is abundance, there is no need for war."

Your mother shakes her head. “Those are nice thoughts, but people find ways to fight even when they have everything they need. Look at the Imperial Nobility.”

Voss approaches and says "Sir, you need to hear this. It's on the surface shipping channel in clear. I'll patch it through".

Frank (and anyone either monitoring the local frequencies or that he shares the transmission with) hears:

"Bartizan base, Bartizan base this is CPN Monitor Truculent. You are in breach of Collace Planetary Law and Collace Prime Maritime Ordinances regarding possession of high energy weapons. Standby to receive our boats and shore party who will deal with the offenders. Acknowledge our transmission. Message ends".

He then turns back to their new clients "This could be little difficult. You might have to draw on your imperial credentials and play dumb of local customs."

William chuckled for a moment before wiping the grin off of his face and going deadpan serious. "I am extremely experienced at playing clueless and arrogant Imperial noble. I volunteer as the sacrificial ass hole."

Dzofin actually growls slightly. "Always we have those promises of abundance and sharing from humans. Both the Zhodani and Imperial humans treat us as pawns and lawless barbarians with no honor or worth. I will walk with open ears and eyes but it will be my nose that tells me if this has the usual stink."

He turned to Colonel Cross. "My in-laws could use a tour of something far away from here, if you could arrange it."

She'll consider that and then nod. "Tag, you're it. I've already had my quota this trip. Don't get arrested, and keep them looking at anyone other than Doctor Metz. He's a terrible actor and would get arrested immediately."

The scientist looked mildly offended, but didn't argue.

Metz if questioned:

Roscoe turned to Jaelah. "We need to get your family out of sight. They don't need to be caught up in this."

He turned to Colonel Cross. "My in-laws could use a tour of something far away from here, if you could arrange it."

Frank nods and turns to Voss "Mr Voss, could you arrange a tour of the air traffic management suite please." he pauses for a second before continuing "Something about this situation smells a little...off. Please make sure our new naval guests have an armed escort while they are here, and let us at least confirm their identities before we let then on site." he looks around "No doubt I am being paranoid, but I have no intention of the Princess or members of her retinue being harmed or kidnapped on my watch by same elaborate ruse with fake planetary navy."

William laughed and kissed Ciencia on the cheek. "I'll take one for the team. It is my job as Prince Consort. You should suit up as one of your guards if you want to watch things play out." He looked over at Metz who was being hounded by a brightly dressed Vargr. "It looks like our good Doctor will be distracted for a while."

Shaking his head and chuckling William walked over to Frank where his expression sobered up. "Colonel Cross, please call me William or Silencer. I am Imperial Marines crossed with Sword World before I was demoted to nobility. I will be your Imperial face if you need one but I defer to your local knowledge."

Dzofin trotted over to where Doctor Metz stood. He bowed. "Imperial Grand Wizard I am known as Dzofin and am associated with these mercenaries. I saw what you did for Prema and her gauss rifle. I beg of you a boon to upgrade some of my equipment. We must ensure that these new upgrades work with my people as well and what better example of a Vargr leader that myself?"

Metz blinked. "I beg your pardon, but I'm no wizard, grand or otherwise. Just a scientist. I'm more than happy to help. What do we have to work with?"
