With stones and arrows flying in every direction, the beast is just about to pounce upon the raft as it nears the shore.

Bracing for impact, ready to be painfully tossed into the shallows and possibly eaten, the group on board are shocked when they hear a loud splash of water coming from somewhere in the darkness beyond their lightsource. Hearing this as well, the creature suddenly stops its attack and quickly slithers back under the surface, moving away from the shoreline into deeper water again.

Watching this as she is about to cast a spell, Magda stays her hand to save her magic for another time. Kian poles with all his might, getting ever closer to the land they seek.

"You must press on! Hurry!" The warrior himself goes away from the shore but is ready to go back when the raft arrives, in order to help the others.

Xenos wonders what could have made the huge worm leave and watches the dark while Kain poles them to shore.

Cyril waits until he's close enough to shore and then jumps off and helps lug the raft onto dry land.

He reaches the shore and breathes a sigh of relief. "Thanks! How did you know that it would entice the creature? Anyway, great idea!" He looks about, trying to determine who to thank.

Sik watches the water suspiciously.

"I'm not so sure we've seen the last of it. And if it fled, I worry of what scared it off. There may be something else in the water."

Even after the raft scrapes onto the beach Madga stays aboard, her feet and skirts soaked, holding her lantern aloft and peering to see what might be there past its light. "Ai, we are not alone for sure. Could that be the fire builders from earlier... or some unknown friend. Belloc, or his owl perhaps? We should go and check on them sometime..."

The Ixian girl's words trail off as her mind flashes on Skavi, who could have been helpful here, and she feels a fresh pang of grief.

(Gotta play in character, not knowing Belloc's player has left!)

No Idea On Time Or Day

With their raft securely beached upon the gravel shoreline again, most in the group watch and listen out over the vast darkness beyond them, wondering what could have caused such a monster to flee.

While the island they intend to reach is still a good distance away from this side of the shore, the group is suddenly shocked to hear a commotion coming from the darkness. It sounds like a splashing chase through the water by two large creatures growling and clicking loudly. The noise seems to be headed in the opposite direction of the island in the middle of the waterway.

"We should use this opportunity to cross, before one of the creatures wins," Sik says. He starts to pull the raft west towards the alcove, hoping to make as straight a shot to the island as possible.

"Agreed, I doubt we will such a good opportunity again."

"Sounds like a plan. Who's going first?" Kain offers to pole again, his spell most likely faded by now.

Xenos takes the pole "I will go."

Cyril hisses out a "Quickly now!"

He'll be ready to make the second crossing once again.

He will help those arriving on the raft to set foot on land before continuing the journey together. Every now and then, he can't help but glance in the direction from which the fading sounds come.

Sik will also go on the first boat.

A Swimming Return?
No Idea On Time Or Day

The group rushes to get the craft filled before pushing off shore again along the first trip to the island.

Dumping off the first crew and quickly returning with second group, everyone makes it to the shore of the island just as the strange fighting noise from the darkness abates.

As they make their way forward towards the doors again, a heavy splashing noise is heard near the raft they pulled up onto the islands shore.

The doors remain ajar, just as they were left several hours ago. No light or sound is detected from beyond the massive portals.

Sik rushes up the stairs and then turns his guard back to the water, hoping that whatever it is doesn't emerge from the water.

The Kimmerian warrior also steps away from the shore and approaches the stairs. He casts one last glance at the raft. "I wish we could pull it further inland. I don’t feel like whatever's moving in the water destroying our raft... But better not get closer now.

Let’s move on..." He then climbs the stairs alongside Sik.
