Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
Morwen can always cast unseen servant and floating disc to help get the bodies out faster.Leitz wrote: ↑Fri Nov 22, 2024 1:20 am Okay, it's late for me and my brain is frizzled. Here are the lines I'm thinking through:
To cleanse this lingering taint the dead must first be gathered and proper rites conducted for them. Then an altar must be erected and consecrated. So long as that altar remains no evil will be able to take hold.
and
Building an altar costs 1000p and takes a week to empower it.
Temporary cleansing for this area requires 15 casts of Bless (5 hours if done as a ritual costing ~300p) and 10 more hours to actual walk and perform the rites so 2 full days.
Doing neither allows Morwen to use the focusing crystal she took from the altar to freely cast 1000p of ritual spells to secure the area. She can drain the unused magic at a rate of 1 shilling/level/day and store it for later.
Am I correct in suggesting this as a way forward:
1. Hemia begin the 2 days of Blessing and walking (cost 300p).
2. Meanwhile Earnan, Erikir, and those wishing to not be dealing with the dead bodies set up a secure camp close by, maybe at the mouth of the entrance? We still have wolves and goblins to worry about.
3. I'm not sure what, if anything, Morwen can drain off quickly. I don't mind if she does, but we need to get the site so that it does not regrow undead before we leave.
4. JJh, Si-woo, and anyone else who can/wants to bring out the bodies while Borav does the rites for them.
5. Once what we can do is done the Dawi can take charge of building a proper alter. JJh will contribute the coin if necessary. If it can be done later, like after Springkeep, that might be best. But for that we need to neutralize the area.

And for free no less.roobeastie wrote: ↑Fri Nov 22, 2024 9:46 pm Morwen can always cast unseen servant and floating disc to help get the bodies out faster.
Better than free, really because it burns away some of the dark magic to do so. It won't make Hemia's task any faster, but it will make it cheaper if Morwen does this.
If you go this route then
Hemai spends 180p on reagents to cleanse.
Morwen recovers 120p of necromantic reagents
All three entrances are Wizard Locked.
All the bodies are removed on the first day.
Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
As long as Gurav and his folks are okay with it, cool. I'll post IC in the AM.
Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
Still mentally working on a post IC, but the thought struck me that if we were attacked then I'd pity who/what ever was out there. Morwen has the stone and thus a virtually unlimited amount of SP; she'd wind up with her own undead army in short order...

Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
Gurav will be 4th level after this which means Borav can cast Bless and thus build an altar.
For our new people XP only applies once you return to your base with the treasure so you will level up once back at Eastfort.

A note to the ladies
I usually avoid writing a female's thoughts because it is difficult for me to do well. My last IC post delved into Hemia's head, please let me know if it seems out of place or ill fitting for a female.

Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
I don't want to make assumptions about where anyone is or who, if anyone, wants to talk to Earnan.
But he's always ready to learn more about this particular corner of the northlands, or indeed anywhere else that anyone has stories about. And he's perfectly happy to reciprocate by answering questions about his own past and homeland should anyone show interest.
(I'm conscious that I've not really said much about Earnan yet. I'm not intentionally being mysterious - there is precious little for this character to be cagey about - don't get your hopes up for exciting motives or goals - I just haven't found an opportunity to bring anything up naturally in-character.)

Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
I'm kind of assuming that most won't want to interact with Morwen, because, well... yeah. Anyway, she's doing Ravenkin stuffs.
Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
I think Earnan’s generally more curious than disturbed by her. But right now it’s fair to say he’s feeling a bit weirded out about Morwen’s necromancy. He’ll get over it though.roobeastie wrote: ↑Sat Nov 23, 2024 11:42 pm I'm kind of assuming that most won't want to interact with Morwen, because, well... yeah. Anyway, she's doing Ravenkin stuffs.
Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
JJh makes a point of interacting with her frequently. He even set up an introduction for one of the Margrave's kids, ask scarik about it if he hasn't said anything.roobeastie wrote: ↑Sat Nov 23, 2024 11:42 pm I'm kind of assuming that most won't want to interact with Morwen, because, well... yeah. While JJh is a charismatic nice guy and a great leader he's also a "play to win" sort of guy. Knowing Morwen better means that he understands how best to utilize her in battle. He's not going to throw her at something needlessly but he's pretty sure she can come up with things he and the army can't do. Best to have the fearsome necromancer on your side and used skillfully.
At the moment, though, JJh's player has been driving a lot of the game and feels it's high time he stepped that down a bit so others can lead.
Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
Erikir is a 50-something human male; he's the one that talked to the wolves, found the campsite, and generally kept the outside part of the escape route clear. Eithlin has probably been around him a bit, if you like. Erikir and his kin are Rangers and he can answer most of your questions and likely has plenty of his own. He knows there are elvenkind in the eastern woods but I'm not sure how much he knows about them.CarrieVS wrote: ↑Sat Nov 23, 2024 10:09 pm I don't want to make assumptions about where anyone is or who, if anyone, wants to talk to Earnan.

Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
In the overall story this is a huge turning point. Assuming the characters live long enough to procreate their grandchildren will constantly beg for the story "When Elf, Ravenkin, Dawi and Human fought together to establish the True Thane of Kraka Grak." There are still significant political ramifications to work through but the group is pro-Dawi and things will turn out well.
Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
@Ladki has begun the journey in her subforum. She will arrive in time for Summer which gives you all time to recover and refit.
Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
Are we at a point where we move the focus to Spring? Or do that off screen and move to Summer? I'm okay either way.
Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
Discussion item: the new watchfort.
If Gurav doesn't want the new watchfort, does anyone else?
We know that it's sentimentally significant to Gurav and kin, worth 7,500, and much of the tower is already in place. For those wondering how much watchfort reconstruction is, 15,000 for the underground section and 15,000 for the tower. Generally re-construction costs less than new construction, so you can probably get by with less than 22,500.
While it's sentimentally significant, as I understand it, Gurav and most of the Dawi really want to get back to Kraka Grak. So they are not as likely to settle for a watchfort when the mountains are in sight. That is my understanding, subject to facts.
The local grass lands don't grow high value crops yet, but over time they can be improved. Based on the value of the watchfort and presence of a militia, families can be attracted to farm the local land and pay taxes. JJh hasn't gotten Eastfort totally filled out and self-sustaining yet, but he's getting closer. If not this year, 669, then likely next unless he croaks off.
I think most everyone knows JJh is aiming to be "<some title> of the Westlands" and he's happy to take it if none else does.
