Gonna be a human Magic User.
On November 2nd I will be participating in another 24 hour game of Dungeons & Dragons as part of Extra Life. This organization uses gaming to help raise money to donate to children's hospitals. I'm raising money for Marshfield Children's Hospital in Marshfield, WI, and all money I raise will go to that hospital. All donations are tax-deductible. Please take a moment to check out my donation page below. Thank you.

Oof! [4d6c1] = 3.

Someone can get +50xp by telling us the percentage chance of rolling four 1's for this critical fail.

That is correct. I have done it with 2 characters on here rolling the 4d6 method. I have rolled 5's 4 times using 4d6. Interestingly I have never rolled less than 6 using 3d6 on the roller. Keep in mind I roll a lot on here. guessing only GreyWolfVT and Ogre Mage have rolled more and since they tend to run lots of games as DM and I am primarily a player I may have rolled as many or more characters.

Curiously, if you roll up 150 characters using the 4d6 drop lowest method, you have just over a 50% chance of rolling at least one 3. So you should be safe for the next 149 characters Rex!

That's not much protection from a roll of 4 though . . .

I only have a minor in statistical analysis, but I am pretty sure that is not how it works unfortunately. :lorcl:

If only playing Roulette had the same rules, getting ten reds in a row, "surely black must be next" ....

So 1x6 x6 x6 x6 =1296, 100 divided by that is 0.07716049382716% chance of achieving a 3.

Well such dice fates can lead to either great characters or very short lived ones.

Great, Thanks everyone. After doing some early Christmas shopping with the missus this morning, I hope to have goodie bags to share out. I will address them next and then post the opening prologue.

I will go over all the team sheets, as long as things get in order by the first combats then we are good to go.

scott308. Seems you got shafted more than once with low attributes and even rerolls for hp. I can only hope the Slaver's god's must fear the hero to deal him so harshly.

Right ho, I will randomise stuff and post in the afternoon.

It gets worse. If you look at the Notes tab on my character sheet, you can see the spells I tried to learn but failed. I failed on 11 second level spells before I got to my minimum of 7. I may not be much help in combat.

It gets worse.
I saw all the rolls in the dice roller archive. To be honest, I am not a big fan of some 1st ed rules and sticking so rigourously to them. I want the game to flow and characters to develop even over the short span of potential Slaver modules. So we can work around those class rules such as % to know a spell with failure meaning you will never, ever learn it. I am fine with it being 'failure to know' meaning I cannot choose it now but may be able to learn and equip later.

There are a few tweaks I put in already. I did very much like in another game the use of allowing Thieves & Monks to roll vs Move Silently skill check during a melee, with success meaning they have manoeuvred to gain a rear attack advantage if they didn't have one already, Fighters adding strength to hurled weapons and Shield usage in melee and Clerics being able to cast any of the spells they know without preparing a short list in advance, hoping they guess right for the challenges ahead.

And you can still cast these spells from any unlearned scrolls you find.
