Zuhma's Sewer Quest
Smelly, Humid, Wet

Being half orc himself, Magg is hardly intimidated by these superior nonhuman beings. He ducks a swing from the club before he rips his sword through the air in a horizontal arc the cuts through half of the things neck. As gouts of foamy blood pour from the wound, the monsters huge head tips to the side in an unsettling manner. The behemoth slowly plunges backwards to splash in the sewage covering the floor.

Alordan can barely stand after taking such crushing blows from these potent adversaries, his attack failing to cause another wound. Theo's intense extra strength seems to be affecting his accuracy as well. Feanol fires a magical Ray into the beast, hoping to weaken it further. Andron steps in to touch Theo from behind, offering more healing after the meager attempt earlier.

With a growing target pool to chose from, the final threat is about to level its dangerous club upon so many heads when its attack is suddenly thwarted by disruption. It shouts out in pain before looking down to see Percy suddenly appear with his glowing dagger jammed deep into the beasts calf.

Alordans eyes widen in surprise and gratitude at Percy stepping in to help him! He quickly takes advantage of the gesture - whether altruistic or selfishly motivated remains to be seen - and cleaves the orc with precision!

Seeing Percy risk his life by attacking the huge brute, he steps forward and adds another body to help distract the creature's attention from their guide.

Before another blow can be landed by the behemoth, Alordan cuts him down with one final vicious blow of his sword, possibly appeasing Feanol's inquiry

As the huge rhino-man plops down into the mucky water, Percy looks up at the group with a very concerned look on his tiny face. He speaks into his shell before pointing it back upon the party.

"These two are members of Garzanthanon's personal bodyguard retinue. I don't understand what they are doing so far away from his hideout, but......."

Your dark and diminutive guide suddenly stops talking, apparently straining his ears to listen down the tunnel where they came from.

He stoops to begin searching the massive creatures for anything of note. Keeping his voice low, "They didn't seem surprised to see us, unless they were expecting someone. If Garzanthanon sent two of his personal bodyguards, it must be for something very important, or valuable."

Torbath

Torbath whispers, "If this encounter was not random it was planned. So we have to be very careful as it appears that Garzanthanon already knows we are here."

Alordan takes a minute to lean against a slime covered wall to catch his breath. He looks back the way the two brutes came and suggests, "maybe Big Eye is closer than we think..."

Feanol

It sounds like that is the case. Maybe the best thing would be to try to go where he won't expect us, lay low regain spells and then move towards him again. Trying to win through his rings of protection and they already have us at half strength may not be our best move. She'll move towards the guide and ask to speak in his shell where she'll ask Do you know someplace we can go to lay low be guarded and rest up to come back for another try to reach him?

Theo standing on top of the water, rather awkwardly and embarrassingly tries to bend to below boot soles level and grab a corpse by the legs. He gives up. Stand back everyone, there's going to be a splash. He takes off the ring, splash down into the muck, puts his until now relatively clean gloves under the sewage and grabs boots. Stashing a dead rhino-corpses is kind of disappointing way to use his magical super strength.

That chore done, he whispers, Wait, I thought we weren't going to try to fight the eye thing. Weren't we going to try to use flattery on it? He looks around at the party, wondering who's the smoothest talker of group. Certainly not himself.

"That is indeed the plan. A fight would be almost certainly suicidal. It seems something else is coming up the tunnel we arrived from, though. Perhaps these bodyguards were sent to intercept, or escort, whatever is approaching to Garzanthanon."

Alordan offers “Hey Percy - thanks for that help a minute ago. I may have been a-gonner with that.”

He also wonders aloud regarding the body guards “maybe the thing comimg doesn’t know them. We can pretend to be body guards, right? I’m not ready for another fight just yet if we can avoid one..”

Going through the possessions of the 2 dead rhino-men, only one item of interest is found along with the mundane. It appears to be a leather folder or dossier filled with papers and parchments written in a cuneiform hand. The whole thing is soaked with the mucky water that currently fills your boots, making it difficult to see and even more difficult to translate the unknown script.

Percy listens up the passage intently, but the others hear nothing over their own noise of talking and splashing water.

As the bodies are moved to the side, your tiny scout moves further up the passage the guards came from before abruptly turning around to head back towards the group again. He holds up his communication shell. "Garzanthanon is the untrusting type, so he utilizes spies of every sort you could imagine. If these brutes were on a mission from him, it is possible he had them followed, and that would make your assumptions that we are already discovered a reality."

The little scout just shakes his head at the inquiry of Feanol. "There is no such place down here, I'm afraid."

He leafs through the pages in the dossier. "This looks interesting. I can use a spell to decipher the script. We should probably keep moving, quickly, before any such spy can report on discovering us." He casts Comprehend Languages and peruses the pages while they proceed.

Alordan, with your wounds you should probably stay in the back. He takes position behind Percy.

Maag

Maag, always ready to believe the worst of someone, takes note of the 'spies are everywhere' comment. Then he takes up his place in the marching order.
