Are the rest of us trailing along behind Stormbrow and Rondoel, or are we back at the Inn?

==================================
Dungeon Master Response:
Yes, the rest are still back at the Inn/Tavern (They are connected, you can walk between them without going outside).
So, you can continue your convo/antics there while Stormbrow & Rondoel are meeting with Lord Guido.

The rest of us are at the One-eyed Cat talking and watching Gus drink.

Gus is seated at the table with Durgan and Odderick. He looks over to his brother at the next table and says:
"Perhaps your cousin really is a super hero -- for a second I thought he was in trouble"

"Come sit with us and tell us what Stormbrow said when you told him he had a cousin from the Coffinwoods", Gus asks. And Clem does.

After his meal Clem is off to meet the Inn keeper and secure a place in the commons. He will pray and return to check on Gus in an hour or more.

As Gus gets to feeling good he will approach Garbanzo at the bar and invite him to join the table with Odderick and Durgan.

Gus likes to talk about archery, women, fine beers and whiskies, history and how stupid he thinks Paladins are.

[Stormbrow – Cavalier 1] {hp: 6} {AC: 4}

Stormbrow bows to Lord Guido Macsen Wiedig, and with smiling face says:
"The meals are of excellent choice and the hospitality superb. Thank you kind sir."

Stormbrow bows once more showing his respect.
"My lord has sent me as an offering of his services. The health of either kingdom is of mutual benefit. How may I be of assistance?"

Lord Guido Macsen Wiedig says to Stormbrow & Rondoel:

"Please, have a seat Gentlemen", after everyone sits down, Lord Guido continues:

"Stormbrow, has Rondoel, mentioned about a kidnapped Merchant? I believe a rescue attempt is being talked about? You can
certainly help us out with that."

"The fellow, Mr. Mickel Kmartie & his wife, Sasha, are well known here at Kendall Keep & in Rondoel's hometown."

"So Gentlemen, have you anyone else interested in this mission? Any though of a plan of action?"

"I will assist you with the supplies you may need for this undertaking, Lord Okenfell offered to resupply the Keep, of
horses & whatever else, as well."

"I have not received a ransom as yet, however i fear they could have been sent to the coastal town of Highport, a known den for the
slave trade."

Rondoel says:
"Yes, that could well be the case that they were sold into slavery. I have been asking around at the One-Eyed Cat if anyone would like to join me in partaking this mission, yes."

"Stormbrow has offered to help & it appears a few others will join us."

Trindon: is experiencing vivid nightmares of near-death experiences, demihuman raiders burning villages, and other peaceful situations turning suddenly violent and tragic. He is really having trouble regaining his constitution. Cold sweats and dehydration are also in the mix. He needs water.

Garbonzo: is not totally oblivious to the commotion in the tavern, but he is little concerned of it at this moment. He did not come to the keep seeking adventure. He came because of a medical emergency. He is half way through his second meal, and a feeling of urgency comes over him. Maybe something is amiss with his ailing fellow traveler.

Garbonzo didn't seek a life on the road or of adventure. He is on the road, seemingly on the run with Trindon, after rescuing the wee-monk from another dangerous situation back in his hometown just a few days prior. Garbonzo came upon Trindon in a back-alley being attacked by three assailants, and saw no apparent reason to allow a lynching at that moment.

He ended up killing one of the attackers with a brutal haymaker that landed square on the temple of the unfortunate bad-guy (BIFF!!!). Once the magnitude of Garbonzo's brute strength was realized by the attackers, they opted for flight over fight, cursing promises of revenge as they bolted toward the surrounding forest.

Garbonzo and Trindon examined the victim, and decided it best to hide the body asap until they could determine who these men were, and who might be interested in the fate of the fallen attacker. After some quick reconnaissance at the nearest bar to the crime, they learned from a tender that the men are of no good intention. They are in the business of raiding travelers, and seem to be fearless and quick to mention their connections to a powerful employer...as if to say, 'don't mess with us, less something you can't handle deal you your fate.'

Upon learning this, they knew they had made some potentially dangerous enemies, and decided it best to vacate the area until they found a solution to their quandry.
Garbonzo grabbed the rest of his meal, along with some tea and water, and shuffled off to where Trindon lay tossing and turning.

He decides to see how coherent Trindon is, and prods at him to get his attention. "Trindon, old boy, wake up. You need water and fuel to heal." Hearing Garbonzo's voice, Trindon abruptly snaps out of the light, but turbulent sleep he was in.

Trindon: "Who are ya man? I should be in this world only in physical form. What be our fate? What be our purpose? I have gotten you in trouble and put you in danger, and you keep saving my hide. I owe you for every molecule of air I breathe. I see no other option, but to get you out of the trouble I have brought upon you."

Garbonzo: "Well, that is a little dramatic right? Merely coincidences my friend. Merely coincidences. However, we are both in hot water in this region. We either need to take flight from around here, or find some cause to join. Maybe a pack of adventurers...or try to find work within the keep here. I doubt those vagrants would dare seek a beef within these walls. Here, take this food and drink while I join the crowd in the tavern and see who is who, and what is what. I won't be far from there if you come around."

Trindon: "I thank you for the sustenance. I am not sure I feel like trouncing into a crowd by myself at this point. I am easily spooked right now. See what you can see. Give me just a few to get my wits about me. I will be waiting here. Come back and get me sooner than later."

Garbonzo: "Aye. Will do. Get right man. I won't be too long. I have a tab to settle up on. I will be nursing an ale. I require so much food, I can't afford to drink. Ha Ha Ha."

Durgan Lightwater [Lvl 1: HP 8: AC 8]

As Durgan sits at the table with Gus and Odderick, drinking his Tea that was provided for by Gus, He seems to be deep in thought, only speaking when directly spoken too. As Gus gets up and goes to invite a large individual to their table his mind wanders, flashbacks of the past coming to him as he contemplates what he will be doing on this new journey to cleanse the tainted and damaged land.

Garbonzo is looking to meet the right people and fall into the best opportunity for he and Trindon to avoid running into the bandit crew again...at least not without more allies to have his back. He knows that his size and strength are a rare commodity. He knows he could learn to anchor a battle line like a pro. His swordplay is a little rusty and naive, but he can fake it with the best of 'em.

He first steps up to the bar to secure a pint of ale and pay off his tab.

He then accepts Gus' invitation to sit, drink, and shoot the breeze. He cordially introduces himself to all at the table.
The name be Garbonzo. The game be holding down the trenches.

Not exactly sure how to start the ball rolling in the right direction, he decides to be direct...while, at the same time leaving out the controversial details of how he had killed a man a few days prior.

"SOOOO, my friend Trindon and I are just mozyin' up the road just this mornin', looking for trouble I guess; 'cause outta nowhere, we got jumped and raided by a small team of bandits!!!"

"You guys know anything about this garbage? My little buddy took a bolt to the thigh, and a mace to the kidney...damn near offed him; but I carried him all the way here after I picked him up over my shoulder and bull-rushed the lot of 'em. I musta knocked three of 'em on their keisters, but I wouldn't know, 'cause I didn't bother lookin' back."

That outburst of TMI was followed immediately by a few seconds of awkward pause.

"Uhhh, yep, so we made it here; and man am I pissed!!!! If I see any of those guys again, well...ya...ya know...some...somethin' is...is gonna...."

GULP! Garbonzo opts to shut the hell up, and drink all but a small swallow of his ale in a few obese swallows.

"SOO, how 'bout you guys? What brings you guys around this keep? What is this place, huh?"

Odderick [lvl 1: HP 7: AC 6/5 with shield]:

Odderick enthusiastically greets Garbonzo.

"Odderick. Odderick Scribeson, at your service. New to the area, just entered the keep this morning!"

"I came here because, well, really I was just following in Stormbrow—he's a cavalier, but he's not here at the moment, but I met up with him and just ended up following along."

"But it seemed like a good idea. I'm studying the ways of arms, and this seemed like a good place for direct observation. Like your story, here!"

"You, you say you bull-rushed a team of bandits with a wounded man across your shoulder? That must have taken some strenuous calculation!"

Gus is put at ease by Garbonzo, for rarely does he encounter one with poorer manners than his own.

"Well big fella", Gus says, "That WAS a strenuous calculation. Perhaps you should talk to these guys here about what kinda "party" everyone is talking about putting together."

"Or maybe you should talk to Oakenfell, the super trooper -- he even has my brother talking "party". Knowing how guys like him operate, I bet he'll go bandit hunting."

"Those guys always need to kill something in the name of the Law. If you join this, "party", perhaps you could get your revenge."

"And you look like you could carry allot of booty -- always a plus. And if things go wrong I could always hide behind you. -- also a plus. Anyone for a drink?"

Gus is almost finished with his second mead -- soon onto his 3rd. During his meal, his table manners lack . . . not the etiquette of a typical Elf.

Durgan Lightwater [Lvl 1: HP 8: AC 8]

Durgan follows along with the introductions,
"I am Durgan, A Druid. I came here in search of answers to questions, but it seems the potent taint of the nearby land has derailed that journey for the moment."

"I met with this group when I first entered this tavern looking for any rumors and now it seems the group may grow by... two possibly?"
Durgan studies Garbonzo,

"That is if you and your friend Trindon are willing, brave souls are always wanted."

[Stormbrow – Cavalier 1] {hp: 6} {AC: 4}

Looks to Rondoel: "It appears as if we are headed to Highport, unless you have another idea. Do you have contacts that could possibly locate the merchant, while we see to matters a little closer to home? I am on board either way. I will do my best to assist in whatever manner I can."

===================================================
Dungeon Master Response:
Note! The mention of Highport was to enhance the World by making a reference to a town in another D&D Module (A1: Slave Pits of the Undercity)! Highport is a long ways off along a coastal area! So i have no idea if we will ever get to that town where the characters would be battling Slave Lords!

Rondoel looks to Stormbrow:

"Hightport? Nay! That town is along the coastal area where there are other Lords' Counties, that are closer. Unfortunately attempts that have been made by them have failed or never came to be due to corruption."

"Perhaps that is something for another day as we have more pressing matters here."

"The merchant was last seen being handed over to Hobgoblins that then proceeded into the Caves of Chaos Area."

"Perhaps, by sometime tomorrow afternoon, we will have a better idea of the full extent of the party & the supplies we will need."

"I am thinking we will need at least 4 horses for bringing back the merchant & any injured or dead. These horses will need to appear to be wild.

After that Lord Guido says:

"I see, yes, that could be arranged. Oh, by the way, we do have a general map of the area around the keep, that you men could use."

"Ok, then gentlemen i will have my 2nd in command, Castellan Devereau, meet you sometime in the afternoon tomorrow at the One-Eyed Cat at first, so he can have a look at your group & go from there."

"Anything more to say before we depart for the evening? If not you both may return to the One-Eyed Cat Tavern."

Clem reenters the Cat after his evening prayers, sees Gus' purse still on the table and snatches it. Clem pinches 2 gold from the purse and tosses them back at Gus.

Gus protests: "What?!! What's the problem?!" He punches Clem's thigh while still in his chair -- the way brothers hit one another.

"We might have serious business to to initiate tomorrow, Gus."

Clem takes a seat and continues: "You can't be hung-over, and you can't get too drunk and make a poor impression on our first night here."

Clem knows that Gus could down 8 or 10 Mead if given the right opportunity. But tonight Clem will prevent it.

"You know I'm a 100 years older than you" Gus grumbles.

"So?" Clem retorts.

"So, I think I can manage my own gold and my own drinking" Gus says.

Clem responds glibly: "You mean like Mom?"

Gus pretends not to hear this and turns in his seat toward Sabine.

"Can I buy you a drink?" Gus asks. Gus smiles and holds out a proffered hand with 2 gold in his palm.

Durgan sees Gus's offer and calls over to Sabine,
"You can take my seat if you'd like, I was about to retire for the night."

Durgan then gets up from his seat and says good night to the rest of the group. He starts to head out of the tavern.

ACTIONS: If no one stops him as he heads out he will then go over to the stables to look at the horses for a bit.
