Will everyone be heading back to town in the truck?

(I ask because, if you have been following the CHESTER topic, you know that I pulled some HUNTING a rules out of one of the books. That means you have the option to hunt big game if you wanted to take advantage of the wilderness.)

As an aside, the TRUCK holds 8 tonnes of cargo, so will you haul 8 tonnes and sell it or haul all of it back and sell it or search for buyers from here using the Computer and COMM and haul it wherever the buyers are?

What was the final plan?

If we go sell stuff in person, Mick will want to go. If using the computer, he’ll go hunting!

Mick wonders how Juliette lived out here alone, and how does she plan to squat out here alone. She made st be great as a survivalist, or is there something else at play here? What hidden talents does she have?

He’ll be observant for any clues in her actions and behavior.

He’ll also take down time to practice the meditation and focus exercises he was taught.

I refer you back to a post I made a few days ago, that appeared to get missed (or ignored) by everyone... viewtopic.php?p=730609#p730609

Joe was doing a computer search for prices for items like the ones we've salvaged. He was looking at what price at the Star port was compared to selling elsewhere and had brought up the ideas of moving the ship components to the port and storing them there for sale to the Ship Yard or crews seeking parts. The acid and base should be sold to the Factory in Brulatfort if they are buying that sort of thing...and he was looking at that on his computer. He even floated the idea of running a small ship yard here to pay for the repairs we are doing out of repairs and maintenance we do on ships and boats. I was hoping Tut would have thoughts about ship and boat owners looking for lower cost work away from the direct eyes of the Authorities at the Starport.

Tut is all in on the computer search and working smarter, not harder. He knows with his years as a prospector, getting more money for something might cost more in time and wear than getting back to it.

DJ

DJ is interested in what Joe finds out about the possibility of their own small ship repair yard.

Having grown up in Montsoleil, he's happy to be part of the team if we decide to sell parts there. He can even pilot the transport himself if needed.

Y2156.11.24 morning at Ellie’s Compound

Y2156.11.24 morning at Ellie’s Compound
Joe began to explore the markets on Beau. In general, Ville D’Esploir (the capital and largest city) seemed to be the center for advanced research and education, as well as the Financial sector for the planet. Brulantfort (the second largest city) was the center for the High-Tech Sector of the planet with the only TL 11 manufacturing facilities in the Blue Cluster. Montsoliel (the third largest city) was home of the Downport and the center for Heavy Industry and Mining on Beau. The minor settlements around the planet seemed to each have a few thousand people and some local manufacturing tied to local resources typically operating closer to TL 9. There was a steady flow of goods between Montsoliel and Brulantfort along the road that passed by near your location. The Starship parts would definitely sell better in Montsoliel, although Brulantfort was an important manufacturing and technology center (just less so in the COLONY).

Joe received a message on the computer screen that the SECURITY SOFTWARE had detected unusual activity: “Someone is attempting to locate the remote broadcast relay stations. Security Protocols Engaged. Rotating broadcast frequency and locations. Estimate chance of detection at 3%.” Joe broke off and decided to try again later.

Research into creating a local Shipyard at Brulantfort yielded surprisingly negative results. It would require amending the Planetary Constitution! Joe quickly discovered that the Downport was originally located at Brulantfort, however about 150 years ago there was some sort of a political battle royale that ended in a constitutional amendment, shutting down the Brulantfort Downport and construction of the Montsoliel Downport. Before Joe can get more details, the SECURITY SOFTWARE disconnects and alerts you that someone was in the process of triangulating on one of your remote repeaters. Someone is actively hunting your broadcast signals.
Joe market research roll = [7] … minimal success.
ICE roll = [6] … minimal success.
Joe shipyard research roll = [2] … critical failure.
ICE roll = [6] … minimal success.

Y2156.11.24 Woods East of Brulantfort - (Chester)
In the morning, Chester used his scope to get a good look at these ‘New Dawn’ sympathizers or off-world insurgents. Whatever their game, Chester would get to the bottom of it. As he studied each man, memorizing their face and recording images, Chester froze in astonishment. He KNEW one of those men …

Joe shuts down the comm links and let's everyone know that someone is actively seeking their location.

"I know I haven't done anything to get Security interested in me." Joe says, "We were up north and not doing anything that would really draw their attention, I don't think."

"What about you, Hol and Tut?" Joe asks, "Have you two been involved in anything you need to tell us about?"

"That was me, I was backtracking the money trail, looking for the Great Aunts banking info. There is something, but I cant break her password, I worked it for about 24 hours on and off, its mostly current milspec and is setup in totally random I expect. I tracked her past activity to the Computer building, number seven I think and there were two sets of counters, a standard one that I might have been able to get past with time but then there was a governmental counter like I asked for the princesses room code from her mom, I had luckily set up a bang key to back out ahead of time, that's when I learned that the great Aunt had set up a rotating system like milspec recon coms, rotating sites and freq jumping. I was worried for a while. Looks like we should not connect to the net except the local any time soon. F--k."

If Juliette is here.

"Did she give you anything in case of emergency or a book or anything that might carry some info?"

Mick

”I’m no cyber expert, but I wouldn’t be surprised if today’s security might have been tied more to enforcement of the blockheads. Could be space parts being investigated from here triggered a flag for unusual activity. Unless Tut and Hol triggered a sniffer on anything coming out of here.

Might be interesting to know if Joe’s search triggers something from the Colony or even the City. I’m all for driving in to see what we can do with from there. I’m also curious if the bot manufacturers Bruoatfort have any stock of obsolete repair bots. Old models that won’t sell now.”

Chester

Chester eyes widened when he sees Joe, his old colleague that he met before at the bar during his time of service. He smiles bitterly. Friends can somehow becomes foe, he thought. He is thinking of meeting them, posing as a hunter. However, a hunter with advanced rifle seems a little bit suspicious. So, he did the next best thing. Wait and maybe try to hear their conversations, ensuring that he does not get spotted by their device. It was at this moment, he curses himself for not bringing some sort of concealer or jammer. Though, jammer would've raised a suspicious either way.

Think that back in OOC, me and Eris agree that Chester and Joe met before. But if Eris does not agree to it, i can change it to someone else who are willing to.

OOC: I'm totally cool with it. :)

Joe closes shop on his computer and says to the others, "Are we all going back to town to sell goods or are we keeping a few people here to keep an eye on the ship? If we're leaving folks behind, maybe it should include either DJ or me. Either of us could be working on the electronics systems while you're gone."

OOC: Where are we on the various systems, again? Aren't we close to getting some up to a better quality where they might actually pass an inspection? Even just getting the cabins or commons up to snuff would help living conditions here. Right?

"I think you really need your engineering knowledge more than my electronics with where we are with the ship. If we want to sell parts in Montsoleil then I lived there until I went into space, in fact my first term as a merchant was based at the spaceport. I think that will be useful for selling the parts, I was delivering all over the place."

”Well, as a side note. That does beg the question: what kind of partnership arrangement are we really working with here? So far, we just kind of got excited about a ship and we all went to work. Have we made any decisions on bringing Tut and Hol into our company or us joining Hol’s crew of flight-less birds? What would that arrangement look like?

As for going in, I’d rather stay here, but I think my talents are better used by the group, company, whatever this is in selling these parts.”

Hol

Hol spend some time going through his personal database with information about his Aunt, anything that could be a key and address, favorite number that kind of thing.
