So, what's the turbine equivalent of the GUMP landing check? I was a Cessna 172 driver, so it was Both, Down and welded, Full rich, and Fixed. ;)
Believe it or not, I still do a modified launch (lights, camera, action), GUMP, and 7-Ts check (all things I learned in C-172s) in jets. Military and civilian.

Launch double-check today is: Two engines running and warm, flaps where I want 'em, trim where I want it, squawking, Radios set, cleared to: xxxx (taxi and hold short, position and wait, takeoff).

GUMP performed at 1000' and 500' AFE is: Gust/Gross Weight (affects approach speed and approach speed "on-speed" limitations), Undercarriage (gear and flaps), Missed Approach, Planned maximum latest touchdown performance distance.

7-T's': Time, Turn, Tune, Twist, Throttles, Track, and Talk (tuning is most often automatic, but I still check)

Flying is flying. Advanced work is just always doing the basics in a tougher environment. [/ooc]

Walt will DEFINTELY want to do the Collace re-entry jump. He'll beg Bona to go along too. Loading up all the requisite skillsets to be an enjoyable experience.

He'll support William's deduction that hiring multiple merc groups as a stopgap until they get their nation organized would be wise. He'd suggest the "Ruling Council" divide up lead of certain responsibilities as individuals or committees...keeping in mind that the Council has to clean Sternmetal Horizons from their territory first.

During the transit to Collace, Walt will step through teleportals back to Capital and Glisten (if possible) and check on the Scout's preparations for the Pocket Uni survey. He'll coordinate with leadership and leaders of the various specialties to ensure proper logistics, tools, research equipment, etc. are ready to go and the planning makes sense. He remembers a famous saying from his Academy days: "Rookies talk tactics, Professionals talk logistics."
I won’t get into a lot of detail since you’re not going to be able to dig in. If you want more, tell me where you’re digging deeper.

The scouts are ready to move both search teams in to trace the linkages of the teleportals, using the big teleportal to move scout ships in to scout things in space, and probes by the ton to search and catalog everything. They will set up shop on Tech World and use ground teams there, too.
He'll also spend free time walking the common areas of Yamaguchi (with Bona when able) doing an experimental Telepathic mind read of random people looking for shielded minds. (He'll use psi drug to make these sessions a little more productive. He knows getting a hit on a shielded mind is very much a long shot, but he wants to start the process of recruiting psionics. He's most interested in discovering untrained minds indicating 'wild' psionics vs Institute trained psionics. However, he'll also attempt to disguise himself and Bona to streetwise a psionics institute aboard the Space Station...there are nearly a billion people after all.
No luck finding anything, but you learn a bit about the people. They’re concerned that the Starport is cutting manufacturing and are worried about their futures.

BTW, has Aster taught them all the trick of planting false thoughts to spoof a thought reader?
She’s doesn’t know that trick. She’d love to learn it.
He'd also consult with Roscoe and Bianca on a possible house in a Jungle World "High Andes" location and lead a drone search of the world.
He’ll get it done for you after helping you design it.
Transit time work: Dex and End, Telepathy 2 (he'll ask Aster to help him with this one...he's never had formal training for any of his psi skill. Good time to start now. He'll ask Aster what else she might be able to help teach him.)

I can't help here as during my only trip in a Cessna (unsure of type but wing strut for sure and room for four or five with no seats) I got out before the landing part happened. It was 2000ft up and the aircraft was perfectly serviceable but I was an excitable cadet (the absence of seats and also a whole fuselage door should have been a clue...) fortunately the static line saved any undue effort on my part.

I can still recall the hilariously dry instruction as per the British Army of simpler more robust times (when we could afford a whole Light Division instead of a Battalion :roll: ) "When you enter the aircraft do not be surprised that there is someone already there. His name is Pete and he is the pilot. He does not need your help to fly the aircraft" / "When the first man has jumped you might hear a banging on the side of the fuselege. It is the deployed static line in the slipstream and is normal. It is not your mate trying to get back in!" / Instruction on assuming the free fall position: "Easy to remember. It's like having sex with a leper. You only want the important bits in contact".

My dad's 172 was certified for skydiving, although I never flew them. It's an exacting process to slow down as much as possible - and then to not stall with all the weight and drag shifts as the jumpers exit.

Indeed, I can say from my limited flying experience ("ridealongs" in Chipmunks and solo in a VW engine(!) powered Venture glider) "Pete the pilot" really did not need any amateur/extra help. From recollection he put the aircraft into a glide (either cutting the engine or throttling back beyond effective propulsion) to drop airspeed to 70 kph/knots(???) to allow us to climb out (into a very strong "gale") grip the wing strut and stand on the step then as per instruction "Then smile at the Jumpmaster and wait for the command to jump".

I signed up imagining a nice handy door with a green/red light... and I missed the movie and the in flight meal! :P

Metz will pass, as will Bianca. Roscoe will run the simulator but won’t go if Jaelah decides not to.

I can't help here as during my only trip in a Cessna (unsure of type but wing strut for sure and room for four or five with no seats) I got out before the landing part happened. His name is Pete and he is the pilot. He does not need your help to fly the aircraft" / "When the first man has jumped you might hear a banging on the side of the fuselege. It is the deployed static line in the slipstream and is normal. It is not your mate trying to get back in!" / Instruction on assuming the free fall position: "Easy to remember. It's like having sex with a leper. You only want the important bits in contact".
Now why would any sane person wanna go jumping outta a perfectly good airplane?
