Lorath (40/40) continues to glide/skip along the roof-eave, closing range on the fire giant engaged with Marcus and Tybalt. Not for the first time in recent months, he wishes he had ever learned to cast ice storm. In any case, his bow is at hand:

Antheris

Antheris opens his talons, letting the bits of fire giant flesh fall to the ground, and maneuvers for yet another dive attack.

Antheris-Eagle Dive Attack THAC0 16 :to hit [1d20] = 19+4, [1d20] = 1+4, [1d20] = 11 hits AC -7, none, 6

Antheris-Eagle Dive Attack Damage: [2d6] = 12, [2d6] = 8, [2d6] = 5
Woot! 12 damage on the first claw!

If Marcus chooses to withdraw, Tybalt will try to slide over to interpose himself between the man and the giant.

Tybalt grins at the Fire Giant and swings his sword again.

Round 20

The party takes initiative.

Lorath drills the remaining fire giant between the eyes. As it bobs back and forth, stunned, Antheris swoops in and tears out its throat.

The last of the present foes have fallen. Does the party press on after Giantbane or do they retreat to the Fist???

Antheris

Antheris lands, and screeches, "Search them, I'll catch up with the magic-user and cleric."
He waits a moment to hear what else this part of the party may plan.

Lorath

"Go," calls Lorath from the roof edge. He runs weightless down the wall and sidesteps across the ground toward Marcus, keeping both eyes on the gaping southern doorway, holding his bow in one hand, with the other hand removing from round his neck a pendant flask. "Drink this," he says to the gravely wounded young knight. It is a potion of extra-healing.

Ethan Blacktyde (20/71)

Ethan scans the courtyard for more enemies, hardly believing that they won.

He steps over to Marcus, and pats the wounded warrior on the shoulder. "Welcome to the war. We'll get you fixed up."

As he goes to search the fire giant, he asks Lorath "Can we put Gaerys and Marcus on your horse? I think they've earned a ride."

Once he checks the fire giant, he will look to make sure the "box" is still on Gaerys, and want also taken by the hornfoot.

Vorsyin guides the warhorse carrying Hollis back to the Fist with the best possible speed. He hopes the others will safely join them both.

Antheris

Antheris takes flight, gaining altitude to locate Vorsyin, Hollis, and the warhorse, and then circling on high to keep both parts of the party in view.
He also uses his keen eagle eyesight to scan for any movement or potential threats to the party.

Round 20

The party organizes and begins to execute their retreat.

Antheris soars high above the Steading and observes the goings on beneath them. It appears that the coast is clear, though the clearing around the Steading gives way fairly quickly to dense forest.

Marcus gratefully accepts the potion from Lorath and consumes it. Brought to stable condition, Marcus smiles wearily at Ethan.

Marcus recovers 17 HP

The fire giant bags are searched. They contain 6 sets of human-size manacles, 12 throwing boulders, and a jug containing two doses of a potion the party recognizes as of healing. Looking over the dead hornfeet, the party sees nothing of interest except for a necklace on the sole female hornfoot consisting of a beautiful chunk of amber on a leather band.

The party also note that Gaerys is missing only Giantbane and his shield. His axe, and everything else, remains in his possession.

Vorsyin rides like a bat out of hell back to the Fist, reaching it without incident.

Please make sure to mark all the party's finds on the party treasure roster or on your character sheet. Please also deduct any healing potions, etc. consumed.

Antheris

Once the forest obscures his ability to scout, Antheris flies to The Fist at top speed, and alerts the contingent there to send a strong group to meet the companions as soon as possible and accompany them back to The Fist.

Once the party is safely back at The Fist, Antheris will more closely inspect, and spar, with the spear from Nosra, and carefully examine the acidic, herbal, solution taken off of Nosra.

Lorath looks a bit shifty eyed, and chews the corner of his mouth. "Sure would be helpful, if I had a horse," he replies to Ethan. "But the Council sent me express. We will need to walk it out to the Fist, in order to rejoin this other knight with his own horse, which carried the priest that way. I hope. Hey, you're bleeding. Maybe you should try some of that giantish stuff. It smells right."

He slings his bow and gets his shoulders under Gaerys, whose limpness will appreciably slow his stride. "Here's hoping those foul smelling fiends don't track us," he gasps in homage to the Valyerian tradition of autumnal undead scare stories. then he tests out levitating to lighten his steps.

Ethan takes the jug, but doesn't immediately drink from it, just as he waited when nearly killed by Nosra. Apparently, he's used to battlefield wounds.

He grabs up the necklace for good measure and slides them both into his pack, then picks up Gaerys in a fireman's carry. "Guess he'll ride this knight's horse, then!" He then heads out of the steading with the others.

Though we were offered horses, I think Marcus and Ethan legged it, if I remember correctly. Is all of the Nosra treasure accounted for?

well, Lorath certainly won't fight for the honor of carrying a limp and drooling man on his back ... though the load might be lighter for him, making the journey quicker

Ethan's boots of striding let him walk at full speed regardless of encumbrance, so he ought to be fine once he gets Gaerys on his back. He can load some of the gear in his haversack, if he needs to lighten the load... Not the box, though... Some magic items explode in sacks like that.

Once Hollis can move again, he will check himself to make sure there is no injury he has missed.
He then seeks out his companions and thanks them for saving his life.
