I don't have bio encoded gun locks in my universe. Too complicated and prone to failure at the wrong moments. With psionics, that becomes possible, but then you might have some explaining to do.

She then also rather inferred we should use psionics to obtain "evidence" - which would be both inadmissable and utterly prejudicial to any case under Imperial Law but which would also form the only grounds for the further detention of our suspects... as per the criminal law. 'Owever, she's the boss an' I think we might now be operatin' in a whole new arena. Somewhere way beyond "technical legality"... where the entire goal of the enquiry an' indeed the burden of proof is to determine whether or not someone is "out of order". Funnily enough I'm actually feelin' quite "at 'ome" with it all".

She wants the names of people to question more closely and locations of incriminating evidence to seize by the people with warrants. This is a narrowing process rather than the endgame. At least she hopes so, once tight right questions start getting asked.

"I am Marquess Jaelah Shugilamar, and I am the lead investigator into the activities of the late Duchess Muktheswara and Admiral Noster. Please tell me what your relationship and duties were to either of them." She stressed her own title slightly as she introduced herself.

The princess said earlier not to mention the noble titles. They are not official until the ennoblement ceremony. Unless you say otherwise, I will assume you didn't use it.

"She knew everything," Roscoe said over the link. "The plan was the duchess's, and she subverted the admiral via blackmail and his greed. It was kept close, though. Others know, but only the closest to the principles. I don't have names, though, or where any evidence to back that up goes. I'm renewing the thought reading. Be focused, love."

Actually, I think I'm going to adjust this. Roscoe will use Probe to delve more forcefully. As a non-psionic, the woman will remain unaware, but he can get deep thoughts and information. The questioning will help focus the subject. He has an effect of 4, so pretty good. 4 PSI spent and good for 6 minutes. Temp PSI: 19.

The application of great psionic strength will enable a telepath to delve deep into the mind of a subject and to then read their innermost thoughts. Questioning can be used in the procedure to force the subject to divulge specific information. The telepath can easily determine deliberate untruths told (thought) by the subject. Probe cannot be used against a shielded mind. Again, the Effect of the check determines the clarity of the telepath’s perceptions.

"There was no plan. Aren't you listening?" She rubs her head as if she has a headache.

"She knew, the duchess's son knew, her personal attorney knew. Oh, and a private courier she uses. I have his name as well. He's not in her direct service, so we might have missed him. No one else on her end. It was a tight plot. There was something in her head about the duchess keeping communications from the admiral to use against him when this was all over. She wanted it all. I don't know where it is or what form yet. Could you turn her in that direction?"
