006: Welcome to Yamaguchi Starport
Re: 006: Welcome to Yamaguchi Starport
Walt sets the puke-covered decanter on the floor outside of the pool. Standing from kneeling he reaches for the cloth to clean his hand off.
”It’s all I had on hand.
Ms Tiller, perhaps the first bit of assistance you could provide is pointing me to the men’s lav now that Ms Antonov has proper help. I’m a little bit, I’m, unpleasant.”

That sounds like something right up Jaelah's alley.terrymixon wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2024 12:25 amIt looks like the princess, and now Aster, are getting the official things in order and will likely handle the political fallout and seeing to the herd of detainees. That leaves you at loose ends unless you want to be involved with questioning a lot of likely innocent people looking for a possible dirty nickel.
"I want to talk to everyone associated with our late conspirators who is present on the station," Jaelah says.

Jessica blinks at you. "That will take... a while. Assistants, hangers on, guards. There must be fifty people. At least. Oh. The people on the Navy ship and the duchess's ship. He came in a destroyer escort. Her ship is a big yacht. That's a lot of people. Maybe someone should winnow them down first. Surely most of them really had no contact with them."joertexas wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2024 12:41 amThat sounds like something right up Jaelah's alley.terrymixon wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2024 12:25 amIt looks like the princess, and now Aster, are getting the official things in order and will likely handle the political fallout and seeing to the herd of detainees. She directs you to a lavish washroom just off the dining room. It's excessively fancy.Thumper wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2024 12:40 am Walt sets the puke-covered decanter on the floor outside of the pool. Standing from kneeling he reaches for the cloth to clean his hand off.

Garvin states "Your investigation by your rules an' "the" rules o' course". He then suggests "Each firm, faction or chapter, call 'em what you will would 'ave the usual constants: a Master at Arms, Quartermaster and Tech Guy. What served us well today is that both sides no doubt mistrusted each other so much that they brought their "A Team". Everyone was "on parade" - even if there remotely. The Techs need a Tech debrief - it's different. Both blokes on the doors - turn 'em inside out an sack 'em. Put bluntly the bloke 'oo puts "I'll intervene" instead of "How high" against the Princess' direct orders is blatantly workin' for somebody else. Moreso for any security an' aides inside the room. Parkin' tickets or overdue library books will do - or, if they're a bit "squeaky clean" flag 'em to Frederick or just leave 'em to me".

"Would it not make more sense to weed out the people that were likely not involved?" Roscoe asked. "For example, the ship crews. Or maybe start with the most senior aides. We could likely... suss out any connections from the guilty and focus our attention. Say we talk to the duchess's senior aide and directly ask who would know all about her plans? Who would have helped her with the scheme. Or where evidence might be kept. If I'm... paying close attention, then we would be able to act quickly."Tiglath wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2024 1:39 amGarvin states "Your investigation by your rules an' "the" rules o' course". Jaelah nods to her fiancée. "That's the object, yes. We look for reasons to not clear someone. If we find none, then they are free to go elsewhere outside of this sector. No exceptions. They can have a stipend to start over, but they leave the sector on the first available passenger transport. That way, if we miss a mole, they have to work harder to get back or communicate with others we may not know about.""terrymixon wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2024 1:42 am"Would it not make more sense to weed out the people that were likely not involved?" Re: 006: Welcome to Yamaguchi Starport
The princess, who has been talking to Fredrick and the rear admiral, walks over. She was not party to the conversation thus far and is unaware of your discussions. She will keep her voice low. "We can detain the Navy personnel for a good long while, but we need to question the duchess's people. Her senior aide seems the right place to start. I could question her, but I think you folks would be better. Now, I have to mention that this is going to be recorded. Nothing physical and no threats of bodily harm. Clear? Play by the rules. I'm serious. If we ask the right questions, would one of you be able to see through any obfuscation? If so, we can detain that person for more questions and add their friends to the holding cell. I'll be there but will only start things off and let you ask the questions."terrymixon wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2024 2:11 am"Then we should start with the duchess's senior aide," Roscoe said. Garvin says coldly "Invite the fekker to tea then - lay it on with yer best "butler" an' tell 'im there are "certain matters at hand" that are best handled by the "discretion" of the relative households of the nobility". He shrugs "That's "nobility code" for anythin' between the wrong type of tea, ungrateful footmen turnin' down abuse or "unfortunately located" dead hookers. If they don't come then we're on a winner. If 'e or she does - we might 'ave to work for it".terrymixon wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2024 2:11 am "Then we should start with the duchess's senior aide," Roscoe said. Walter walks out of the washroom with a wet right sleeve of his shirt and jacket, and he smalls of fresh soap. He looks at Ms Tiller and nods his thanks. He enters just in time to hear the Princess’ words.
”When we get around to the Navy personnel, maybe go figure out what Commanders or Lieutenant Commanders were in the Admiral’s entourage. Great place to start for “The Nameless Commander”.
Ms Tillis, as for accommodating the Guildmember-owners and our distinguished guests. I, for one, will maintain my quarters on the Lost and Found…our Guild’s flagship. When I get ann opportunity, I’ll inquire ans to accommodations for the Grand Princess and her entourage. Don’t be surprised if she does likewise to me and overnights on our ship or hers. I’ll also see what other, if any, other arrangements she requires.
Roving Director Treegarden? Will you be staying aboard the station or on the ship?
May I get pen and paper? I would like to have a note delivered to Administrator Antonov again expressing our confidence in her, wishing her a rapid recovery from the shock of the events today, and ordering to retire from the work of the Station and rest. I’m certain she recruited wry capable assistants who can fill in for her for the night. I’ll also ask for a tour of the facility tomorrow morning and insist she wear clothing and footwear comfortable for an extended walk. If that means gym clothes, then that is proper attire for tomorrow.
Now, please let me look over the papers the decedents were examining on our entrance.”

Walt, over the net to include Treegarden and the Princess:
”Dont think I’ve forgotten about Mad Dog’s murderers and that conspiracy. But, I believe we have reached a point where we cannot handle the volume of business to which we need to attend.
I’d like to hire out the bounty on Mad Dogs murders. At least bring them in so we can discuss how to proceed from there. But now, have him bring the marks to us, whoever in Glisten we may be at the time. Personal delivery.
Thoughts?”

Jaelah smiles coldly. "I'd say that a well-placed suggestion to put as much distance as possible between themselves and this mess would be well-received by the people not involved. Yes, we can't enforce it if push comes to shove, but I will present that option all the same. I'll even pay for their move out of my own money."terrymixon wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2024 1:54 amAster shook her head. "We don't have that power. We can arrest someone or let them go. That's it.
