Revisiting The Caves: Pt.2

"Watch out in case the invisible bandit is still in here."

Rida will move to the prisoner with Keya to act as a body guard. Once there he will put his back to the nearest wall and randomly move his halbred around him in slashes and jabs to keep anyone he can't see at bay.

Crobeus - Human Paladin

The paladin sees the prisoner with her throat cut, knowing he said they should leave her there for the moment. He sentenced her to death. He wonders if maybe Dredd made the right decision. Crobeus is having serious doubts as to whether he is cut out to be an adventurer; he's been on the brink of death multiple times already in his short career, and seemingly every decision he makes turns out to be wrong. "Damn," he mutters softly. "I thought she'd be safer here, but now she's dead."

He watches to see if Keya is able to save her life.

Crabgrass

Gets some recompense for his troubles, figuring to peruse through any spells once back at the Keep. He makes a note of any personals of the deceased Dubricus so to inform the authorities of his untimely but not unexpected death.

Grabbing his own staff and dropped mace, he will follow behind the file of others, safety in numbers.

Hearing comments about an invisible murderer, he muses, "Wouldn't any attack render him visible again?", a powerful spell if an assassin could stay unseen to commit their bloody atrocities.

I guess I better point out that it took the group at least three rounds to get through the locked door. 2 lockpick attempts and one round to barge the door in.

That would make plenty of time for the old "slash and run".

Astute observation about the Invisibility rule, though.

Bugs

He rushes into the empty room, then to the alcove. "My Damsel! She's hurt!"

Bugs gets bumped to the side as Keya tries to help. "Hang on, did we close that other door before? The one to my treasure?" Not having any real skill in saving lives, he moves to the other door and opens it.

Very true and I thought of that, but figured the odds of Rida knowing that was nil.

Loyn-Dwarf fighter

Loyn removes a bag of ash from his satchel, to throw on the flamboyant bandit, if he’s still under the guise of invisibility. He slowly enters the cave, using his senses to find anything out of the ordinary as he does a sweep of the cave with his eyes for Catbird. He looks to where the secret portal should be and if it remains open or if the way is shut.

Renna

Renna had tried to stay with Stobart heading back to the cave entrance in the previous action, but since that did not work she will get there now. Hoping to head out of the caves with that group.

He whispers to Cobb as they enter the cave, "Walk next to me, shoulder to shoulder. If Catbird is still invisible, let's not allow him an opportunity to slip between us."

Early Afternoon, Clear

The party members who rushed outside to watch Catbird exit the next cave see nothing of the sort. They station themselves at both cave mouths, standing guard by holding hands to prevent anyone sneaking past them. Other than the horrid stench of death and decay issuing from the dead orc cave, there is no indication of stealthy evacuation.

Rida moves into the narrow alcove trying to manipulate his very long handled weapon inside a very tiny space. Keya dodges the dangerous jabs to cast his final prayer of healing on the dying woman, happy to see that his magic seems to work, reviving the woman just before she is about to expire. Before Crobeus has a chance to start flogging himself, the chained woman's bleeding neck wound knits back together before your very eyes, clearly saving her life. She looks up with a desperate hint of hope gleaming in her stunning eyes. "Who......who are you people?"

Loyn wisely tosses ash into the air in all the corners of the lavish bedroom, finding no sign of the missing Catbird anywhere inside. Bugs moves to the door that leads back to the chest of coins he was adamantly told to leave behind. Knowing full well none of his bunch closed the door behind them, the oft confused thief isn't surprised to push it open again only to find that the room beyond is now void of the wooden chest that sprayed him with blue paint from head to toe a few minutes ago. Other than the missing chest, this room looks much the same as it did.

13= another sparsely furnished area. A wooden table and pair of rickety chairs sit in the center of the room, while a closed chest rests against the north wall. A very crude map with strange runes and other incoherent scribbles can be seen chalked upon the south wall. (also now drawn on the back of Loyn's shield)

Actions?

I hope these positions are to everyone's liking. If not, just speak up.

Is not too sure what is going on, having been unconscious most of the time. He wants to be proactive in searching the bandit caves and suggests to go over again the ground already covered. I will check the 'head lookout alcove' poking my head out to see what's happening outside.

I think Haldric is on his own in the first entrance cave, so I will go support him and suggest we explore the room the card players were first encountered and the unexplored passage to the north. I strike a torch for light (and comfort from the flames).

sorry I must have missed it. Was there a reason the covered chamber behind the door NE above the 'slope' remained unexplored?

He hangs his head and turns back to the group in the bedroom. "It's gone. All gone. My Treasure." Bugs looks as if his best friend has passed away.

Only the sounds of a soon-to-be-rescued maiden give him any cheer. "Oh? She made it? Nice work Keya!"

"Here, let me take a pass at those cuffs."

"If these bandits do work for the priests as they said. We could be on borrowed time. I would think that we have to get back to the road pretty soon."

Loyn looks around the room, studying the map on the back of his shield. “Nothing here, although there’s areas that he could still be, several haven’t been searched. He had to come thru this way, with the attempted murder and missing chest! I think investigating the westerly chambers would be wise, could still be hiding out.” Loyn addresses the damsel,“Madame, glad to see you’re still with the living and safe now! I’m Loyn Shortbeard, son of Groyn, nice to meet your acquaintance. Did you know your abductor and did he speak anything to you before trying to snuff your life out?”
