You manage to befuddle the Marines long enough to get them off your ship and out of the bay. The unconscious prisoner gets searched by someone and tossed in the brig. The dead assassin gets shoved into a low berth and flash frozen.

Um, you've got eight of them and three now have dead bodies. You might want to consider doing something about that before you get pulled over and boarded for an inspection.

Once they are clear, Roscoe will depressurize the bay, pull out, and head for the jump limit at thrust 5, the maximum anyone else that knew your original ship would believe she had. The situation with the destroyer must have been more chaotic than you'd suspected because it took them almost 15 minutes to send a signal at you. Roscoe will put it on the kitchen screen so everyone can see.

The android takes a deep breath and continues. "She could have very well died even with the speed we got her here. It was touch and go for a minute. If we hadn't been able to revive her, she would be gone. Garvin, Bilis is miraculous, but she can't bring back someone that is already dead unless she has a pattern and a backup of their memories and personality. This was my fear for all of you before the being serving the Ancients forced the changes on you. She might live a century after this or fall out of bed next week. I urge you to strongly consider convincing her to get the works. Not only will it bind her to us, but it will also make sure she isn't taken from you."

"There is one other thing. The assassin tried to attack me mentally. I'm not sure with what or how. We ended up in a brief battle for supremacy and he lost. I didn't attack him. I didn't even try to push his own attack back on him. I think the feedback from the failed attempt killed him, but I wanted you to know that I didn't intend for him to die. I'd have rather questioned him and I remember our last discussion about impulsive actions very well. He died from his own actions, and I want to be sure you know that. He just chose his opponents poorly. A mental attack on a baby Ancient was a bad call."

William steps into view radiating what he can of his newfound leadership skills. "Destroyer Avalanche this is Captain William Larsson of Lost and Found. "The attacker penetrated the security perimeter and critically injured her. We are known associates with Ms. Treegarden and are best suited for this effort.
