Loyn watches Bugs’s reaction to the dissipating smoke, he puts his ear up to the stone, listening for any sounds.


Yes, Loyn has a torch lit.

Bugs

"Huh. The smoke kinda shows the secret door. Good to know." He stops and checks for traps and to find the mechanism to open the door. "Cover me."

Crobeus - Human Paladin

Crobeus shoves the prisoner into the room, shutting the door behind him.

If Stobart is unable to cut through the magical growth then he will have wait until the spell expires, but he ready to defend himself if an enemy gets near.

Hopefully Darithe is still with us, but.....the show must go on.

Cold Dice!
Early Afternoon, Clearing

OUTSIDE

As hard as the entangled members continue to fight their way out of the pesky foliage, they make little progress on their escapes.

Gyb feigns high and attacks low, sticking the pointy end of his javelin into the other man's guts. The blow doesn't kill him outright, but by the look in his eyes and the gushing wound in his midsection, it seems clear that he is having second thoughts about continuing this fight. Looking back at his adversary after looking up from his wound, all he says is, "I surrender."

Catbird takes an attack of opportunity once Keya backs away from the fight, but his sudden surprise by the odd action actually foils his aim. Then Keya swings his longer weapon with great force, chopping into the bandit leader and leaving a devastating wound. Instead of returning the attack, Catbird falls back next, clearly annoyed by the comment from Meinhardt as the mage climbs back down to the bottom of the ravine again. The dandy dressed leader offers Keya some food for thought. "What say you and I make a little deal, friend? There is no more need for bloodshed here." As he pants and backtracks towards the cave entrance, bleeding profusely, it's clear that this man can't take another blow like the one he just received.

INSIDE

Both Cobb and Magdal look a bit suspiciously at their Paladin after he tosses the prisoner into a room containing giant rats with no means of defending himself. Cobb's concern is strong enough for him to move away from the door, back over to where Bugs and Loyn are investigating. By the screams from the man inside the rat room, his attitude has changed significantly, suddenly begging to be let back out. When Loyn and Cobb depart with the groups torches, Magdal and Crobeus find themselves fading back into darkness once again.

Loyn hears nothing through the thick stone. Finding no traps or means of opening this secret door, Bugs simply pushes on the stone to access the next dark room. He and Loyn enter cautiously finding another sparsely furnished area. A wooden table and pair of rickety chairs sit in the center of the room, while a closed chest rests against the north wall. On the wall next to the chest is another door shaped outline in the stone, like the portal you just entered. A very crude map with strange runes and other incoherent scribbles can be seen chalked upon the south wall. Footprints in the dusty floor indicate recent movement through this room, starting at the outline in the wall and exiting through the door you just opened.

"STOP moving and go to your Knees and drop your weapon and you can live. You have 2 seconds."

Crobeus - Human Paladin

With the light being carried away, the paladin quickly sheathes his sword and lights his lantern. Opening the door, he tells the prisoner, "Out! Do not give us reason to put you back in there."

When the prisoner exits, he'll close the door again, makes no sure no rats try to slip out; he'll kick them if need be.

I didn't realize the rats were anything more than normal rats.

Meinhardt starts climbing again to Keya's position.

Bugs

He points out the next door. "I must be getting better. That one practically jumped out at me!" Bugs looks around, focusing on the chest and map. He'll move to the chest, thieve's instinct, and give it a once over for traps.

FRT: [1d100]=94 Oh well. If he doesn't find any, his newfound confidence will have him open it. Or try to unlock it.

"Yes", agrees Gyb. He flicks the point of his javelin to the left. "All weapons. That way. Slowly.

Then he flicks his javelin to the right. "You. Run away. Quickly. Far away".

[OGRE MAGE]

Crobeus pushes the door back open and tries to maneuver the man into the opening, seeing and hearing the sounds of rats atop the pile of dead orcs from the light in the hallway. Big rats.

Loyn- Dwarf fighter

Loyn studies the drawn map on the wall, thinking it might be important he digs out chalk from his pack and traces an image of the map on the back of his shield. Before attempting to go thru the next portal. He waits with his battle-axe readied for the thief to open the chest, in the event things go awry.

Cold Blooded!
Early Afternoon, Clearing

OUTSIDE

With the others still stuck in the weeds, Gyb disarms his bandit and tells him to shove off, which he does, with great speed, running away down the ledge back towards the other cave, and then beyond it.

Meinhardt tries his luck at climbing back up the rocky wall, beginning to feel a little better about his climbing skills after all his recent practice.

Keya takes control of the situation by demanding that Catbird drop to his knees and lay down his sword. The bandit leader deliberately waits for 5 seconds before falling to his knees and laying his sword on the ground next to him. "Okay, okay. You got me. Now........how will this end? What do you intend to do with us?" The man watches Meinhardt climb carefully, not really even looking at Keya as he approaches.

INSIDE

Magdal and Crobeus need to act quickly to retrieve the prisoner form the stench filled dead orc room, kicking away the giant rats trying to eat the bandit guild member. They pull the young human back into the hallway and slam the door closed again before any rats escape to cause them trouble. "Do all the knights in your order harass and torture regular simple folks like you do? Doesn't seem very righteous to me."

With his secret door skills getting better by the second, Bugs tries his luck at the chest instead of going through the next door outline. As the gnome pops open the lid, he is covered from head to toe in a baby blue paint that sprays out from the chest when initially opened.

Once he wipes the paint from his eyes and face, he looks down to find the chest filled with an assortment of coins, containing copper, silver, and everyone's favorite......gold.

Loyn takes out his chalk stick and quickly transposes the scribbles on the rock wall to the back of his wooden shield.

When he turns around to see the progress of the groups thief, he finds Bugs looking rather blue.

Crobeus - Human Paladin

"Well, you yourself made it seem like no big deal to end up in there, so you only have yourself to blame. And you are not regular simple folk; you are a member of a murderous, thieving band who consorts with the undead, so pretty much unredeemably evil, but I do not pretend to speak for Pholtus. He will be your ultimate judge one day. The paladin drags along the prisoner as he tries catching up to the others. When he sees Bugs, he can't help but smirk, and ask, "Aww, why so sad?"

He sputters, wipes his eyes clear, then grins widely and points to the chest. "I'm not sad, I'm happy! It looks like the bandit's treasure!"

Bugs quickly turns to the next interesting thing and checks out what Loyn is up to. "Whatcha find?"

Haldric continues to struggle. He can't escape. It occurs to him, "Why am I struggling? I can't get out. No one is trying to kill me and everyone seems to be killing each other elsewhere. Hmm... There must be some life lesson in here somewhere...."

Magdal

The young ranger is relieved when the paladin pulls the rogue to safety from the rats, "You deserve no better. You are as much a rat as those in the room." Magdal tells herself she would have been as merciful as the paladin but she isn't so sure.

Rida continues to struggle.
