Re: The Tomb of the Lizard King
Mordrin attempts to fight foe after foe, deflecting Fahima's attack and Roan's...but when Cassius flanks him, the evil cleric dies spurting blood from two deep wounds and through his mouth and nose! As he falls, his eyes roll toward the hole in the wall where the basilisk was previously stuck. His eyes light up and his smile is red and frightening. "Master...you've come for me..."
As he dies, all of the torches and candles in the room go out, plunging the companions into an eerie half-shadowy room.
Standing in the wall opening is a chilling sight. Sakatha has come!

Roan "Shite!" the dwarf exclaims, glad he is that the cleric is slain but not so that they now face the biggest threat so far.

Cassius
"Now where did he come from?"
Cassius pulls another blade, the shadows bouncing around from his sword creating an even more menacing environment. "Sakatha. It is time. Tell us of the deal with the Count."

Re: The Tomb of the Lizard King
Roan both maces in hand stands ready and will strike if the undead lizardman 'king' moves close enough for him to strike he will attempt to with both weapons, otherwise figuring everyone else is going to attack he will do so if that is indeed the plan.

Zan
Zan will cast Shield.
Was the Cleric splatted before the Hold Person spell was cast or after?

Re: The Tomb of the Lizard King
VAMPIRE!
SHITE!
Now, where did HE come from?
Three immediate reactions at the long-awaited meeting with Sakatha, the Lizard King! After the exclamations, several things happen at roughly the same time:
Cassius pulls another blade and cold black flames lick along its surface.
Fahima gulps some of her invisibility potion and disappears from view.
Zan invokes a spell.
Roan stands ready with a mace in each hand.
Gormundel takes a few steps back toward the entrance near the circular room.
Lt. Dan steps away from Mordrin's body and slightly crouches, unsure what else to do.
Sai raises his shield and his "light" sword; a beacon in the darkness.
Naturally, Cassius doesn't let the silence last long. "Sakatha. It is time. Tell us of the deal with the Count."
Sakatha "smiles" and the companions note the long fangs easily. "Count Tydan isss a man of greed and isss used to getting what he wantsss. He sssought me through the infinite and we conversssed many timesss. Ruling hisss home port isss not enough for a man like Tydan. He wantsss more. Ssso, we came to an arrangement. But, it appearsss he hasss betrayed me. That will not go well for him."
Sakatha smacks his lips, looking around at each of you. "I thirssst. And ssso doesss my bride!"
As if on cue, the lizard bride emerges from the darkness and appears behind Gormundel...sinking her teeth deep into the old wizard's neck! Blood spurts from the wound and Gormundel screams in agony! Then, Sakatha begins his attack!
Here we go mothertruckers!
Initiative and actions! If you have already rolled initiative, you may keep that roll or roll again.
This it it! For all the marbles!!

Fahima
Keeping her initiative roll.
Fahima circles around and tries to get a backstab attack in.
Move Silently 50% and invisible.
Magic Short Sword Backstab [1d20+8]=13+8=21 to hit [1d6+4]=6+4=10 damage x2
Depending on how you double it either 16 or 20 damage.

Always willing to chat while fighting, he retorts: "Oh the Count didn't betray you, he gave you a present. The basilisk was supposed to be in an egg for you to use. Our bad."
He strikes out twice at the lizard vampire.

Re: The Tomb of the Lizard King
Moving forward folks > it's been 3 days...
Initiative Order: Sakatha (2), Roan (4), Cassius (5), Vampire Bride (6), Lt. Dan (7), Fahima & Everyone Else(10)
Staggering from the bolt, Roan nevertheless turns on the Vampire Bride and attacks! The Ironstar Mace smashes her ribcage, knocking her loose from Gormundel, whereupon she screeches in agony and turns gaseous form!
Also recovering from the bolt, Cassius draws another sword and charges Sakatha, chattering away as he hacks and slashes at the Lizard King! He opens a deep wound in Sakatha's chest with his own longsword, but narrowly misses with Bronn's sword.
Sakatha howls in agony, pain like he hasn't known in decades! Lt. Dan adds to that as he charges with a yell and cuts another "slice" from the undead Lizard King!
Fahima, invisible even to the undead lord, reappears behind the creature and driving her gleaming sword clean through Sakatha's back and out his chest!
Not to be outdone, Sai likewise runs forward, stepping around Cassius and slices Sakatha's head clean off!!!
The vampiric lizard king screeches so loudly the companions think their earholes are bleeding, and then turns gaseous like his bride! He seeps out of the room and disappears back through the hole from whence he came!
Stats:
Cassius
Fahima
Roan
Sai
Zan - Shield
Gormundel - bleeding out
Lt. Dan
Lizard Man
Sakatha - down a whole helluva lot!
Bride - undead - gaseous form
Rolls:
Sakatha Initiative: [1d10]=2

Initiative Order: Sakatha (2), Roan (4), Cassius (5), Vampire Bride (6), Lt. Dan (7), Fahima & Everyone Else(10)
Sakatha lifts his head and briefly makes an incantation and a bolt of lightning sizzles through half of the companions! Cassius, Roan, and Sai are "lit up" by the forking bolt! (22 dmg; save for half)hedgeknight wrote: ↑Tue Aug 20, 2024 1:49 pm Three immediate reactions at the long-awaited meeting with Sakatha, the Lizard King! Cassius
Saving throw: [1d20]=3 Ouch.
He pauses, shocked at the dramatic turn of events, and finally wheels to face the bride. Seeing only Gormundel bleeding from his neck, he will direct attention that way. "He needs help! Watch for more tricks!"
Cassius will rush over and try to stop the bleeding while questioning "Did we do it? Is he dead? Uh, re-dead?"

Re: The Tomb of the Lizard King
Gas Me Out!
In the wake of defeating the vampires...sort of...the companions run around like chickens with their heads lopped off!
Cassius rushes over to Gormundel and tries to stop the wizard from bleeding out; the man's face is pale and his eyes are closed; his skin is clammy. All the while, the archer is chattering away!
"Did we do it? Is he dead? Uh, re-dead?"
Lt. Dan hurries to help, hollering, "Anybody got a healing potion?"
Fahima heads for the brides sarcophagus, returning back to the round room of coffins; only one is somewhat closed...
Zan regains his wits, only to lose them again
and fires off a magic missile into the retreating gas, hoping to kill the vampire king. Nothing really happens.
Roan, having vanquished the bride, takes on the lizard king...who is also in gaseous form. His maces pummel the floor and the wall, but nothing else really happens.
Actions?
I've included the bridal chamber map below; Fahima is in the circular room and Zan and Roan are standing near the hole in the wall, wondering where the gaseous form of Sakatha went.

Fahima
Fahima will attempt to get the brides sarcophagus open so she can finish her off if she has reformed there.
Would Fahima know the proper procedure to finish a vampire off?
