In a brief public appearance the night before he is scheduled to testify before the Corporate Court, Miles Lanies spoke to a select group of trusted reporters. “I have done no wrong. When I left Fuchi, I left all of their property, including intellectual property. I left all designs, all blueprints, and all data chips. I purged my headware of all data as well. I could not delete the ideas and thoughts in my brain. It is that I brought to Renraku, nothing more. I do not doubt that tomorrow, the Corporate Court will acquit me of all wrongdoing. That is all."

In local news, an improvised explosive detonated in the Bellvue-to-Downtown Metro subway rail line at roughly 3:15 this morning. Fortunately, no train was on that section of track at the time, and no one was hurt. Nevertheless, the damage to the track will close down that section of the line for several weeks until Metro Security can assess the structural stability of the tunnels and the track can be replaced. For the duration, Metro will be running trains to a mile out from either side of the damage. Riders will have to exit the subway and take a shuttle bus to the other section of tracks. Metro riders on the Bellevue-to-Downtown route should expect delays of up to two hours. This makes the third IED explosion in the Seattle area in as many weeks.

An unnamed woman claiming to be a member of the Committee to Improve SINless Society (or CISS) phoned Lone Star to take credit for the bombing. Dustan Hellman, one of the CISS’s loose confederation of leadership, said that the bombings had been carried out by a rogue member of a fringe branch of the organization, but Hellman stopped short of promising to end the bombings or discipline those involved. In fact, he told this reporter, “You can only kick us down for so long before we’re bound to kick back. We’re tired of being patient. Be grateful the rogue targeted an unoccupied area.”

Michael Decon, the spokesman for TASC, Taskforce to Abolish the SINless Caste, the more moderate, nonviolent SINless rights coalition condemned the action. “Such violence,” said Deacon, "only delayed the rightful integration of we SINless into mainstream society promised by the late President Dunkelzahn.”

Lone Star has released few details. However, they did say that the device itself had been concealed in a can of tire sealant. In the prior two bombings, a can of hairspray and a bottle of roach spray were used to contain the devices. Lt. Buchanan of the Bellevue station urged citizens to be wary of such unaccompanied litter and report any suspicious-looking cans that seem out of place.

“Sure,” said Susan Lane, a regular rider of the Bellview Downtown line. “You really expect us to notice one piece of litter among the rest?”

Tension is mounting among regular Metro users and public works employees.
