Using this, he’ll work on Strength and Dex. Skill Improvement: Telepathy. (Random question: by any chance, would Assisted Ambulation permit time in the cruise day to either speed up the development of a characteristic or skill, or be able to add a skill study?
The cargo bay is fully packed, so no open corners. Might I suggest the small bridge? It has some space and the manual controls aren't in use. Or the captain's office, though I'd imagine William would object.

And, no. The work has to have time to settle in, but you have more time for other things.

So noted. Roscoe will make sure to turn off the transponder before arrival and engage the stealth jump settings on emergence so as not to reveal the ship to anyone present.

"May I assume control of the visual device in that compartment?"

Assuming yes, the screen over the kitchen comes to life showing a Droyne. It looks to be male and not a warrior. It is wearing a harness with tools and seems to be assembling something.

"This is Yaskoydray, my Master. He freely admitted he was a sport with great intellect. Not a once in a generation sport, or a once in a millennium sport, but a once in eternity sport. I know little of him outside his work, but he raised his people up and spoke of cloning himself to have others to assist his work. I do not know if he ever did, though. As I believe he shut me down hundreds of Millenia ago, I am uncertain what he did after that point, and it may be lost in the mists of time.

"Doctor Metz has showed me images of the damaged ship. A large disintegrator caused that damage. There are defenses against such a weapon, but I do not have patterns for them. I am sorry."

William raises his eyebrows as Bilis explains some of her background. "Very, very interesting. I'm sure a lot of scientists would like to know the origin of the Ancients." He turned to the others. "Feel free to introduce yourselves."

"An interesting and descriptive name. Doctor Metz told me some of what you know about them--or perhaps only him--and I have difficulty seeing how things went so badly wrong. It is perplexing, but difficult to argue with seeing the little evidence I have seen. That facility on the moon was destroyed in battle, so I am at a loss to explain it. Perhaps if I had more information, such answers would be easier to obtain."

Walt- But since bounty Hunter ‘s have Nick-names, he will use Growler for any public persona:

”Thank you William. Good to find a home, for a change.

but you have more time for other things.
Walt will ask the crew and Capt William to convert the bridge into a makeshift strength training room.

Then with some extra time available, Walt will want to learn to make patterns for Doc’s fab and for Bills. He’ll also work with Bilis to make the chargers for the advanced energy weapons as well as copies of the weapons for everybody. Once out of jump and cruising in normal space, he’ll want to suit up, open the airlock and fire them all. After learning what they do, he’d like to toss out some crew garbage then practice shooting them until comfortable with each.

For clarification? Please verify: those with Uber high TL wafer and neural jacks can load up to 20 wafers/programs performing 20 bandwidth. Skill level use is maxed at DM+4 (already trained in that skill…DM+3 untrained in that skill. But the Expert program is still running at 5 bandwidth (so limited to 4 concurrently running augmented skills? How shall we track the loaded skills?

This is up to William. I only mentioned the spaces as they are the only ones not packed or constantly in use. I suppose for as short-term fix, you could use the boarding tube chamber. Really, it's a management call.

Doable with Robotics loaded. As you have no base skill in it, you are capped at Robotics/3. Not shabby for someone only loading the skill. What kind of patterns are you making?

Doable for everything except the Ancients disintegrators. It'll take a day to make them, test them, and charge things up.

This will have to be brought back up when you want to do it. We're too far out for that now.

You can load up to 20 Bandwidth in skills, with each level being 1 Bandwidth for the most part, though there are a few skills that take 2 Bandwidth to get to level 1. That might be 20 level 1 skills or 5 level 4.

These are the skills that take 2 Bandwidth to get to skill/1. It's 1 Bandwidth per level after that first.

Astrogation (I will rule that the Complex Cranial Processing Unit will give you a DM +2 to this)
Carouse
Deception
Diplomat
Investigate
Leadership

Don't worry about the expert program. Just run with the paragraph above.

INT requires some drugs and a sleep wear machine you don’t have. You could get them on Aki, most likely, but for now you can’t do it. Leave that spot open or do something else?

I'll make two posts this morning. This one plays catch up on some of the events happening during jump. The other one will deal with your arrival at Aki. The arrival does not foreclose events happing in jump. I just want to get the PCs to where they can be doing things outside of jump while the last details are settled.

Still in jumpspace:

Once the meeting wraps up, Spicoli and William come out to the packed cargo bay and see Bilis set up in the corner of the bay closest to the brig. The large, rectangular box filled the space that had been left unfilled by cargo though there was just enough room to open the front door and go inside. As the panels that make it up are thin, it looks as if it is big enough to hold a grown rhino. It could in fact hold Doctor Metz's lab entirely.

Metz will turn to William and Spicoli. "The process is painless and you will not be aware of the time that passes while it is in progress. Once you step inside, there will be a brief glitch in your perception and the process will have been completed. Just open the door and come back out."

Whichever one of you goes first steps inside and the door closes behind you though it isn't dark. It seems as if the panels are giving off a dim illumination and so you don't feel as if you are trapped. As Metz had indicated, there is a brief twitch of your perceptions that you couldn't describe if you tried.

You feel exactly the same as you did before except that now you have a neural jack installed as well as the other modifications that Metz had mentioned. You feel completely normal. Any testing you do with the hardware shows that it works perfectly. Accessing the neural jack is seamless and it gives you access to all of its capabilities.

One of the most impressive ones at least in the short term is the way your PRIS vision integrates with everything else you can see so seamlessly. When you've used the technology before, it's been a matter of interpreting everything but now it seems to be fully woven into your senses. It's almost as if you had always been able to see in those spectrums.

Obviously, using some of the technologies built into the neural jack will take a little practice but with the built-in computer accessible to you, the manual is right there, and the process will be significantly easier. This hardware was designed to mesh with you and to make the process of using it easier. It's almost as if it anticipates some of your needs and provides you the instructions on how to do something as soon as you begin thinking about how you might manage it.

Once whoever went in first steps out, the other person can go in and the process will be identical. For the one outside, it only takes a couple of minutes for the deconstruction and fabrication to take place.

Only once the two of you are finished does Metz walk into the area himself and set down his pendant. When he steps back outside and closes the door, he looks as if he is communicating with someone using the neural jack and he probably is. A quick check shows that it has the ability to hear psionic communication. Not mind reading or thought projection but communications using psi. Like talking, but without the means for someone who isn't psionic to overhear. That might be useful under certain circumstances.

As soon as you figure that out, the feature activates, and you can actually hear Metz and Bilis talking. "I have finished scanning the item, Doctor Metz. I am unable to determine what its original function was but I am able to duplicate it, though I have to advise you that it appears to be broken. As you say, it does increase your intelligence while it is being worn but I doubt very seriously that was its original purpose."

"We'd already guessed that," Metz said silently. "If you would make half a dozen copies, then I can make those available to the rest. Please put the pattern for it in my fabrication unit."

"Of course. I am beginning the process now. Deconstruction complete. Pattern saved and transmitted. Fabrication complete. You may pick up your new items, Doctor."

Metz stepped over and opened the big door, bending over and picking up seven of the pendants. He turns to Spicoli and hands him one. "Just remember that this can only be worn for a couple of hours each day. If you exceed that, you'll end up with a splitting migraine and a nosebleed."

He turned to William and handed him all but one of the others. "If you'd see that the others get these, I'd be most grateful. I don't know that they will prove useful to anyone else, but it's been life changing for me."

You can look on the listing for the neural jack to get all the details of what your new augmentations are capable of doing. I'll update your character sheets with the specifics.

If there's anything else that you need Metz to do, you'll have to run it by him.

Arrival at Aki:

First up, let's deal with your in-jump training. I'll do the rolls to keep this from dragging out. You only need an 8+ with INT & EDU DMs for skills and a 4+ for stats so it'll be a rare miss if you have to repeat a week. I'll still need what to roll for Jaelah and potentially a different characteristic for Arkar. I'll roll those when I get the info.

Metz: Barely made both characteristic rolls, but curb stomped the skill check.

Walt: As he is going for a PSI skill, I used PSI rather than INT. He made them all.

Jaelah: Waiting for what she has been working on.

Garvin: Ouch! Failed for both END and Vacc Suit. Too much partying, not enough studying. ;) Only STR advances.

William: Barely squeaked by on all of them.

Arkar: Made the END check, utterly bombed the deception check.

Spicoli: Bombed the END check and passed the rest.

Whoops! I stopped changing the names. Well, you get the idea.

The jump goes perfectly and the Lost & Found emerges from jumpspace without any issues. Roscoe was able to let you know ahead of time that the jump bubble appeared to be thinning and that the end of the journey was imminent. He turned off the ships transponder and made certain that all of the stealth systems--including the stealth jump systems--were engaged prior to leaving jumpspace.

Looking at the video of the arrival on the screen over the kitchen you can see a pale gas giant sitting in the distance and at least hints of moons orbiting around them. You're still quite distant from the glowing blue orb. Approximately five million kilometers.

"I am scanning the area around the gas giant with our passive sensors," Roscoe said. "At this distance, if a ship is attempting to conceal itself, it will be unlikely that we see it. Thankfully, because of the capability to stealth jump, no one will be aware of our arrival either. One has to be quite close to the emergence point to even have a chance of noting the jump flash.

"I am picking up a single transponder from the location nearest the moon that Mad Dog visited. It does not belong to the Overland Express, however. It is an Imperial Navy transponder. It identifies the vessel as the destroyer escort Agamemnon. It is actively scanning with its sensors but even if we were closer, they would be unable to detect our presence. Our stealth systems are quite good."

He turned to look at William. "What would you have me do? I can close the distance and use the moon as a shield to prevent any opportunity for the destroyer from detecting us, but it seems unlikely that our quarry is here. That said, we are here, and we may never get an opportunity like this again to examine the site that Mad Dog found. Using stealth and active camouflage, we should be able to avoid detection and get to the site. Or, alternatively, we could use the stealth grav bikes."

What we do next is up to you, so feel free to discuss.

Walt-
While still in jump and working hard on advancing, Walt will ensure all the new advanced energy weapons are charged.

I trust your judgement, guys. I’d like to check out our new guns while we’re still at an extreme range from anybody. That is, if opening the outer airlock door won’t negate our stealth.

Roscoe, William?”

Getting them charged is accomplished, other than the disintegrator rods. You'll just have to deal with making new ones with five shots.

"An energy weapons discharge--depending on what it is--could increase the odds of detection even at longer ranges," Roscoe said. "The end call is William's."

Arkar
INT requires some drugs and a sleep wear machine you don’t have. You could get them on Aki, most likely, but for now you can’t do it. Leave that spot open or do something else?
