Re: OCC: Out of Character Chat
I was thinking of playing an Imperial Goblin, which if based on gnome could fit into a illusionist/thief/fighter mould. But I don't have much more info on them as a player class.

Re: OCC: Out of Character Chat
Imperial Goblins are not quite based on Gnomes but have many of the same characterisitcs. I have pm'ed you with some information. I would love to have an imperial goblin in the party!

Re: OCC: Out of Character Chat
I got the note we are doing Max hp at 1st level. This is a good decision, nothing worse than creating characters that drop after the first trap or encounter. Survivability also promotes a bit more risk taking and adventure.

Re: OCC: Out of Character Chat
I have finished the "House Rules" posts. Please take a look and let me know if you have any questions or need clarity on anything.
Re: OCC: Out of Character Chat
Looks good. I have been reading along as you posted and it is all good with me.
Re: OCC: Out of Character Chat
Two questions in bold
(1)
In Combat
Attack Damage
Your class's Hit Die determines your base weapon damage, e.g. Fighters d8, Clerics d6, Magic-Users and Thieves d4. At each Attack Bonus (THAC0) increase, your base weapon damage improves by one step, as follows:
Initial Bracket - 1dN, N=Class's Hit Die
2nd Bracket - 1 die type up (e.g., 4th level dwarf would use a d10)
3rd Bracket - 2dN (e.g., 9th lvl Clerics would roll 2d6)
4th Bracket - 3dN (e.g. 13th lvl Thief would roll 3d4)
5th Bracket - 4dN (13th lvl fighters, paladins, and rangers are the only classes in our game who can obtain this bracket)
Given the 2nd Bracket raises your die, would the e.g. by 2d8 and 3d6? or when you get to 3rd bracket does 2nd bracket not stack?
(2)
Maximum XP in One Session
Characters cannot advance more than one level in one session. Any additional XP that would take a character two or more levels above their current level are lost, leaving the character at 1 XP below the total for the next level. For example, Vagar a 1st level Thief with 0XP is part of a very successful initial delve into the Halls of Arden Vul where each party member earns 2,500 XP as their share. Vagar would only be able to earn 2,400 XP to get him to 1pt before 3rd level while Rin the elf would earn the entire 2,500 XP since he is would still be a 1st level Elf. Vagar would also not be able to earn any more XP from FOE until he returned to a safe haven and leveled up.
For PBP can you please define one session?

All Looks good.
Only question out of self interest is the Dwarf classed as a Fighter for the rules. I get it is a martial race / class, checking if a Dwarf can access the fighter abilities too.

Thinking about Cleave ability and I think I am going to keep that as a Human Fighter only ability (dwarves get infravision and other things that human fighters do not). I think the rest of the buffs for martials would apply. Is there a specific ability you were interested in for Gundren?Bucephalus77 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2024 7:13 am All Looks good.

I probably should not have mixed my classes in the explanation of the damage progression. I will go back and fix.
For Gelli the Elf their damage would be 1d6 up for levels 1-3; it would progress to 1d8 for levels 4-6, 2d6 for level 7-9, and then cap at 3d6 at level 10.
A delving session will end when the party returns to a safe haven. For example, the party will start their adventure shortly as the foot the great falls and in the shadows of the Colussei of Adren and Vul. They may spend a few days exploring the cliffs trying to find an entrance into the Halls of Arden Vul and the ancient ruins before they return to Gosterwick. That would be the end of a "Session". Each adventuring day, I will be awarding Feats of Exploration experience. While I do not anticipate this happening, it is possible that one of the parties thieves could earn enough XP from FOE awards to reach Level 2 (1,201) without returning to a safe haven to earn delving XP.
Does that make more sense?

Just Cleave and Shield Bash. They both seem quite thematic for a dwarf, but fine either way with your ruling. Gundren is mainly weilding a battle axe in both hands but swtiches to a shield and short sword.BaltoBruiser wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2024 11:59 amThinking about Cleave ability and I think I am going to keep that as a Human Fighter only ability (dwarves get infravision and other things that human fighters do not). Re: OCC: Out of Character Chat
All,
As I warned I will be celebrating the 2728th anniversary of my marriage to my beautiful and patient wife this weekend. I am going to be away most of the weekend and will pick things up on Monday. I have drafted the opening and have rumors and trinkets to share with each of you. If you have questions about finalizing the characters please let me know and I will address when I return. Please don't forget to update inventory for "equipped" and "packed" items.
Not sure any of you have a favorite mapping tool or are willing to set up a shared google doc/sheet for the party? The guys over at 3d6 Down the Line use Miro for dungeon mapping. I am not familiar with it and I don't think gridmapper is going to do the trick for some of the dungeons we are going to encounter.
All the best

The only mapping I do is on paper with a pencil.
Enjoy your weekend. I am also spending some time away with my wife, leaving Saturday and coming back Monday evening. Have a great weekend everyone.

Enjoy, both of you!
Mapping... Maybe we could try https://www.dungeonscrawl.com/? It is a pretty neat, free tool.
