Rouncy was a middle ages term for a general purpose horse. Used as a pack, riding, and war horse. In fact most horses that saw actual combat were rouncy types.

I am more familiar with 1e but I have been playing 1e for a long time.

No argument from me there! OSRIC has a special place in my heart, but when you look closely, you discover it's full of small holes that the GM needs to fill. It doesn't take much to *fill* any one of those holes, but still. They add up.

There are lots of holes in most rules I've found; that's where the DM and players can create something unique and special. I really don't like high crunch games, too much to learn and often the rules author's experience doesn't reflect real life.

Aye. Plus, though a high crunch game might have fewer holes, the holes they do have tend to be harder to fill.

I like crunchy rules too, all depends on my mood. I run one of the crunchier games on here, maybe not the crunchiest, but one of them.

Nowadays as a player for D&D-like stuff (or OSRish),I think my crunch limit is AD&D, unless it is something I REALLY want to play in another system (like Hackmaster at least to try that init system once, and see if the system crunchiness is a good one or not :D, certain Pathfinder First Edition Adventure Paths, or classic stuff from any of the other D&D versions - examples include Planescape and Dragonlance stuff, Age of Wyrms, Wrath of the Righteous, Demons Queen's Enclave and Madness at Gardmore Abbey, Rappan Athuk, Slumbering Tsar, Sword of Air, etc.).

As a DM, I am back to basics at the moment, running only BX/OSE and S&W. I have been wanting to revisit those systems, and check out just how simple (or not) they really are. Some things have been surprising.

On top of all this, I would love a chance to play GURPS in a Fantasy setting (starting simple though, not all the bells and whistles at once or you can go blind :D Perhaps 100points?). Played a lot of it back in the day, but always in Cyberpunk/Supers scenarios/campaigns. I think there is a lot to be said about the system, and I feel you can fine tune it to be exactly as complex or simple as you wish. It just needs to be framed somehow, otherwise it gets out of hand easily.

And of course Rolemaster. One day I will give it a serious try!

For D&D type games I only run Hyperborea anymore but it is really a combination of 1e and Holmes basic which is what I used to run. I play in just about any. I am in a pathfinder game to try it out and the story and DM are good but I don't care for the rules. I keep trying various versions of 5e and always end up disliking the system. But am in 2 of those at the moment. When I think crunch though I am more thinking RoleMaster, RuneQuest etc. I run HarnMaster on here which is similar to RuneQuest but crunchier. I play in a HarnMaster FTF and run both Hyperborea and Top Secret SI games FTF. I am in a Bushido game on here, very crunchy but I have some issues with it. Not sure yet if it is system related.

Sorry, guys.

I woke up from a dead sleep in the middle of the night last night and got sick in bed. I managed to sleep most of the day, and have felt miserable for the few hours I was awake.

I'm feeling better now, thankfully, and am thinking it was maybe something I ate?

Anyway, I just went to resume working on the draft of the next post I was set to publish today... and it didn't save. :x Granted, I didn't have a ton of the post already created, but I did start it, and updated the "footer" table with the character information to include Edeldhur's character plus the different mounts.

As it's now just after midnight locally, and I have to wake up early to take my daughter to a bowling class, it's probably too late for me to start the post over... and finish it.

It's going to be a busy weekend for me (aside from the bowling class in the morning, the whole family is going out to lunch and seeing Inside Out 2), then I'm seeing the fourth Bad Boys movie on Sunday... but, my goal is absolutely to have the next post up for you guys to respond to by Monday morning.

This bit of extra time will actually help me out, as I've been debating how to pace the next set of happenings -- cram everything into a single post; or post part of the next situation, let you guys respond to just it, then post the rest?

Until tomorrow...

I have another job interview today. I'm also finding out very quickly how demanding it will be to start up a gaming convention.

I will get this one moving again, maybe later today.

It should probably make sense to formally organize a posting schedule for this one. While my available time for posting was nearly unlimited when I launched this game, it will be significantly more limited now. I'll think on this.

How slow will be too slow for you guys?

Once a decade. Slow movement doesn't bother me. I'm involved in several other games here (plus running one!), and I have other things I can fill up my free time with on top of that. I have no problem with having any of these games just sort of murmuring the background.

Worry about the job interview and forget the game!

In spite of previous words, I am not planning on going anywhere, until you tell us we are done ;)

A little more than once a decade, if you please. I'm old and might not make more than one post at that rate. ;)

It was... not great.

It was for a technical support role at Northern Illinois University, and they are looking for a lot more hardware support than software support (where I've been doing support for SaaS applications for the past decade plus).

My actual hardware knowledge is painfully lacking.

Oh, well.

Any pace is fine with me. If you need to focus more time on your job search and/or the convention that is completely understandable.
