No worries about the delays, friends. All of us have real life shit going on :D

Gormundel gathers all of the items he has put out that no one has claimed (the flash powder and thunderstone) and leads the way out of his chambers and back to the corridor. Heading back the way they came, the old wizard answers questions.

To Roan: "The crystal emits light as far as I can tell. Very intense light at times. And from what I've read, it can be used like a weapon. I'm not sure exactly how it works, but I believe it may be helpful against a creature of darkness like Sakatha."

To Cassius: "We will need to cross the River of Nothingness and avoid the burial mounds before entering the tomb itself. Once inside, as I can remember, there are giant beasts inside, including a great simian creature! Finally, there are the brides of Sakatha, and the Lizard King himself. We have many perils ahead of us, my Elven friend."

To Roan: "No more demons...unless Sakatha has summoned them." The old wizard smiles and then frowns, hoping they don't have to face another one of the hellish creatures.

Once the explanations are done, you find yourselves back in the large worship chamber. The curtain is still drawn, but Gormundel brushes it aside to reveal a set of steps descending down into darkness. The steps are perhaps 30' wide. The old wizard doesn't hesitate, but begins the descent. Torches burn on either side of the stairs giving off enough light to see. The stairs continue in a gentle slope for nearly 100 feet, where at the bottom, they end in a huge single cavern extending beyond the vision of any in the group. Ahead, is a river some 30 feet wide. However, there is only a trickle of water running through it, perhaps two feet wide at the most.

"It is all as I remember," Gormundel whispers. "Look there, in the distance," he points and you see what appears to be a large pyramid shaped building; it is at least 200 yards away.
Gormundel and Lt. Dan lead the way across the mostly dry river. As you cross, you get the sense of being watched, as if the ceiling of this place has hidden eyes or creatures ready to crush you or descend and devour you.
(Everyone make a Saving Throw vs. Petrification please.)

A few yards past the edge of the river, your group comes close to several large earthen mounds. No sound comes from the area except for your nervous breathing.

Fahima

Save vs Petrification (12) [1d20]=18
Probably doesn't mater with that role but she gets +4 vs magical stuff and +3 if a Dex bonus applies.

"Onward."

Zan

Petrification (13): [1d20]=3

I had though he had handed those two items directly to Zan (the flash powder and thunderstone) - so I had already written them down on his sheet

Sai

Takes his time looking around and goes through Gorm's Spell book looking at what spells he has. Wish we had time to learn a few of these. Maybe later.

he continues to thumb through the book.

Greyhawk, 586 CY, Readying 21, Afternoon?

A few yards past the edge of the river, your group comes close to several large earthen mounds. No sound comes from the area except for your nervous breathing. Some of the companions are reluctant to go on.
Cassius for one, speaks up. "This place feels strange, like something is waiting just our of sight."
Zan and Roan agree. And to the group's surprise, so does Gormundel.
"I-I-I don't think we should continue on...do you?" the wizard asks, looking around nervously.
Lt. Dan takes the wizard gently by the arm and says, "I'm scared too...but we've come this far; let's finish it."
Fahima agrees with Lt. Dan. "Onward!" she says firmly and begins walking toward the mounds. Sai follows, seemingly at peace with this place.

While the others shuffle their feet and have serious doubts about continuing, the Halfling and Sai move on ahead, leaving the others to follow about 20 feet behind them. A strange mist covers the ground near the earthen mounds; a quick count numbers the mounds to be 13 total. As if on cue, the mounds begin to shift and move. An arm suddenly bursts up from one close to Fahima and Sai, followed by a body; it's eyes glowing a hellish green.

The other mounds begin to erupt as well, arms and heads poking out, groans issuing forth from gaping maws filled with dirt. The zombies claw their way free and move on the companions! This terrifies the already frightened adventurers as they do not know whether to run or to dig their own holes and hide.
(-2 to Hit for Cassius, Roan, & Zan for this battle)

Cassius

His heightened nerves allo him to act quickly as he pulls his sword which immediately bursts into a cold black fire. Unless, of course, these aren't undead or within 10 ft :D

Nodding his approval at the effect, he slashes at Z13.

Longsword 1 +1/+4 vs undead (17): [1d20+4]=14+4=18 uh, plus 3 then minus 2? so, 19.
Longsword 1 Damage (sm): [1d8+8]=7+8=15 (L): [1d12+8]=6+8=14 and then plus 3 vs undead.

Greyhawk, 586 CY, Readying 21, The Walking Dead

As beings long-dead rise from their eternal resting places, the companions waste no time taking action!
Fahima is the first to strike and the first to kill...or is it kill again?...as she cuts down one of the zombies (Z9) with her short sword.
Roan strikes next, stepping forward as a zombie stands from its grave (Z8), and with a smash from his ironstar mace, the creature falls back into its hole and does not rise again.
Zan invokes Labelas and sends forth a wave of divine power, and five of the snarling undead return to their graves, fear in their milky eyes!
Cassius, his sword bursting with cold black fire, meets Z13 head on and cuts it down.
Sai and his "light" sword cleave into another zombie (Z10), but his sword gets stuck in its ribs, spreading eerie light through the gaping holes in its rotting body! The zombie growls something that is impossible to understand, seeing that it has no tongue and is missing most of its lower jaw, and reaches for Sai. The Elf is able to keep the zombie at bay while trying to free his sword from its ribcage.
While Gormundel sucks his thumb, Lt. Dan steps up to Z11 and Z12 and attacks with his sword. Unnerved by all that is going on, the warrior misses horribly. The two zombies converge on Lt. Dan, attempting to overwhelm him. Z11 grabs for him...and misses. Z12 manages to grab the sleeve of his tunic, but the already frayed material tears away before the zombie can take a bite out of him.
The two remaining zombies (Z1 and Z2) close on Sai and Fahima, but neither can seem to get hold of their intended targets.

Greyhawk, 586 CY, Readying 21

While most of the remaining zombies cower from the divine might of Zan, the others try their best to get a bite to eat! Unfortunately for them, the heroes have other plans.

Fahima cuts another zombie (Z2) down to size with her gleaming new sword, and Roan dashes over to help Lt. Dan, nearly "killing" another of the zombies (Z11). While Zan maneuvers around behind the group in order to get a clear line of sight for his thrown daggers, Cassius runs to his old companion's side and sends the two zombies (Z1 and Z10) back to the grave!
This allows Sai to pull his sword free of the zombie's ribcage, and turn to help Roan and Lt. Dan. The Elf's sword finishes the job on Z11 that Roan started, and Lt. Dan finally slashes the last zombie (Z12) across its maggoty face, knocking it down...whereupon the three adventurers hack it to pieces.

The threat ended quickly, the heroes turn toward the pyramid.
In the distance, past the barrow mounds, among the hilly area before reaching the tomb of the lizard king, you can see a number of campfires burning. You see a couple of humanoid shapes moving around the fires.
