Chapter 2: The Highway and Silver Spring

"I am intrigued as to the powers of this gem, that both the fire-creature and drow desire it. However, the information he has offered is more important. If he wants the gem so much I say we take the deal, but tell him we get to choose the two questions he will answer truthfully."

Hex scoffs. You can’t trust genies to keep their word. I could make something up for you and it would likely be just as reliable as anything this creature will tell us. It would be wise to take
everything he says with a spade of salt.

He pauses. I have the power to breathe underwater. But I need to rest before I memorise it again.

Androgst agrees, "Let's take this deal and see what we can learn. We have been in the dark here the whole time"

It seems that the group is willing to accept the deal with Siouxsie, Androgost and Garrant suggesting that it be taken and Hex warning. It is unclear if Qleceec is of or against the deal and Nah Olos and Boff do not reply.

The fire-creature says, "Then it sounds like we have a deal. We will give perhaps 10 hours to rest and then return. After that time, you will retrieve us the Black Gem at the bottom of the straw-like tunnel below us. In exchange for giving us the gem you will get the Druid's vambraces and I will give all the information I have on the earthquakes? and on the number of the Drow in the area?"

ASSUMING the group is agreeing, will you be camping in this giant room? Will it be standard watches and are any spelling being used before the end of the night?

I assume that you are just going to camp in the spot you are in? The fire creature disengages from the group to return in 9 hours. The group talks about various water breathing options. Nah Olos asks how deep the water is, but does not get a reply. I assume that you are using standard watches (1) Garrant, Hex, and Boff; (2) Qleceec, Nah, and Raffi; (3) Siouxsie, Frannie and Androgost

Hex casts his last Phantom Armour upon Raffi.

The night passes with little fanfare. If there is a last minute spell you wanted to get out before re-memorizing please include it in the next post and note in your next post (if applicable) when your spells are updated.

If anyone has any uncast healing spells before sleeping, would be kind and cast them on the group please before we rest.

Hex will rememorise his Phantom Armour spell, an Alter Self spell, his Improved Invisibility spell, and a Continual Light spell, casting it back upon his charm as soon as he has finished with his memorisation.

Raffi will prepare to break fast with everyone, cleaning and checking his weapons and such like.

Nah Olos's Slow Poison comes to an end causing him to be paralyzed for about 8-10 minutes later in the evening.

I am going to confess I am still a little confused with the scene and what we know and where we are.

So as we camp and rest, Siousxie will try to fathom a few details.

Is the 'fire giant' an Efreeti and what is his relationship with the blue robed wizard. Do we think that he (blue) is a Djinn or air elemental? Why are they here, trading with drow?

Are we free to explore these caves during this ten hour respite or are we effectively under 'house arrest' and cannot leave. (which begs the question, if we can leave, why don't we?).

Is there any relation to these guys and the Mind Flayers, our original mission for trekking these cavern passages.

Let us reset a little. The group entered a side tunnel that the dwarves whom you spent the night with said somewhere in the cave is the Mind Flayer's lair. While exploring the caves, Siouxsie and Boff were scouting and the pair was attacked by dark elves and Siouxsie was taken hostage. Sometime later, the group tried to press forward and had a battle with the dark elves and a very tall human wizard dressed in blue robes. (Whom you had encountered on the Highway.) After battling some time the dark elves retreated to the surprise of the group. Siouxsie as a hostage turned into a panther and was battling two dark elves and was joined by Raffi. The dark elves were defeated but not all of Siouxsie's possessions were present. The duo witnessed two large creatures in a large cavern, one of the two creatures was flaming. When the group was further exploring Siouxsie had a conversation with this flaming 12' tall man and the group made a verbal deal to dive into a pool in this large room, down a straw like area at the bottom (of unknown depth) and recover a large dark gem. The gem would be traded for information on the dark elves and the earthquakes and one of Siouxsie's magic items.

The group camped near the entrance of this large room, but did not explore the room. They are not under guard and Siouxsie asked if the group can leave and the answer is yes.

Siousxie asked many other relevant questions that I cannot give answers to at this point

• Is the 'fire giant' an Efreeti and what is his relationship with the blue robed wizard. Do we think that he (blue) is a Djinn or air elemental? Why are they here, trading with drow?
• Is there any relation to these guys and the Mind Flayers, our original mission for trekking these cavern passages.

After staying the night, several spells have been cast and spell lists have been reset.

It is expected that the flaming man / fire giant / efreeti or what ever he is will be returning soon, with or without his companion.

Would anyone like to take any actions before the fire-being returns?
