Hey all

#1 Post by imperialus »

Got recommended this site as a good place to set up a PbP game. Figured I'd poke my head in and say hello.

As for a bit about me... I started playing D&D kinda at the tail end of 1st edition, though my 8 year old mind didn't really grok it. Fell off my radar for a few years played a lot of CRPG's like Ultima VI, Might and Magic III-V, and Final Fantasy.

Got back into D&D in Jr. High during 2nd ed. Also discovered Shadowrun at about the same time. Jumped on the 3rd ed bandwagon when it came out. Started getting fed up with things in the 3.5 era, totally broke ties with Wizards after an abortive 4th ed game, and circled back to old school games 4 or 5 years ago. I've been playing in a weekly B/X, 1st ed, Labyrinth Lord mashup for about 4 and a half years now, and I run a bi-weekly DCC game with a heavy sword and planet vibe.

My real motive for joining up here is a desire to start a DCC PbP game using the absolutely fantastic Tales From the Fallen Empires campaign setting that I kickstarted ages ago. The PDF has finally made its way to backers and a few folks on the Goodman Games forum pointed me in your direction.

"P&P" is "pen and paper"
PbP is "Play-by-post", like the games going on here.

Welcome imperialus, there is certainly some DCC love here.

Thanks for the welcomes guys.

So out of curiosity, what exactly is the procedure for starting up a PbP here? I've got some interest over on the Goodman Games forum, but I'd still have a couple places available so how do I go about starting one up? It looks like most of the games on the board have their own subforum, so it's not like I can just fire up an IC and OOC thread and get going.

For those who don't know, Tales from the Fallen Empire is a campaign setting/rules alternative for Dungeon Crawl Classics. It is basically an attempt to take the Sword and Sorcery tropes already present in DCC and carry them one step further. It isn't publicly available yet, the Kickstarter backers got PDF's late last week, but I'm not planning on getting anything started until after the PDF has been officially released so it is certainly open to people who don't own it yet, but want to.

Anyone who may be interested but is on the fence, I posted a reasonably lengthy review/chapter summary over on the Goodman Games forum here: http://www.goodman-games.com/forums/vie ... 44#p104944

I was part of your kickstarter but haven't had a chance to read through it yet. I would definitely be interested in jumping into a game and trying it out though.

You are most welcome! This site seems to be getting some really talented players and DMs /GMs. Once you figure out the forums(which is similar to many) starting your new campaign should be a breeze. Good luck and good gaming!

Wish I could claim credit but I didn't write Tales. I was just another backer.

Sorry, I read "...campaign setting that I kickstarted ages ago." to mean that was your project.

Anyways, good to meet a fellow backer.
