Checking interest in 2nd edition AD&D

#1 Post by Shonuff »

Anyone interested in playing in a homebrew world (FULLY detailed)

It would be a 2nd edition campaign. and it will be multiple adventures strung together.

Just looking to see how much people would want to play if I put it up.

I don't have the capacity to take on additional games as a player, but I'll always encourage someone to start up a 2E game.

@Daos - cool. you're on the list.

@Comp +1: sup man, thanks. Blame one of the others in the old threads for harassing me for leaving you guys high and dry. I figured i'd come back. if we get enough of the old group, i'll restart one of the old threads.

if not.. we start fresh.

I'd be in, and I probably wouldn't punch anyone else this time either . . .

Alex Fiord, The Rescuers
Hakon Geirmundarson, Pawns of the North Wind

I'd be interested. 2nd ed was my first edition of D&D, and it's one that doesn't get a whole lotta love so it'd be nice to revisit it.

Just wondering how far down the 'skills and powers', 'combat and tactics', 'Complete X' rabbit hole you go?

I'd be interested shonuff. I could go with the character concept I had for your 2e game on DF that never got off the ground.

I'm in.

Edit: Curious why your DF game never 'got off the ground'.

I don't play near that rabbit hole at all.. Classic core 2.0 with complete books. Not 2.5 black and yellow covers that incubated 3rd. (they lend to powergaming. not everyone ,but the option/enticement is there) When i tried to see what Icould do, and ended with a half orc fighter with specialization with darts that threw 6 darts a round, doing 1-2 +9 dmg at level 1. that essentially was a gatling gun fighter. it is easy to see how the point buy can be abused. it's too easy to see it slip into power gaming. I may allow picking and choosing a few non weap profs, but nothing that i see becoming power gaming. My games are roleplay based, not ROLLplay based.

Because DF is all about classic/BECMI and 1st. 2nd isn't as big a hit there.

This was interesting to read.

I've been thinking of allowing aspects of 2.5 into future games I run, but I've never used the material personally, so this is something I'll have to consider.

I'm interested....I love 2nd Edition (basic or Core or whatever you want to call it) and I've had a Half-orc Thief/Cleric that's been involved in 2 short-lived games on this site....I'm hoping it's not a bad-luck character! :)

However; due to my 12 hour shift work and 3 year old at home; I certainly can't promise to be one of those 'at least one post a day' kind of players that a lot of the new games around here are looking for. I can certainly post once a week at least; and sometimes several times a week.....is this okay?

Good day to have a birthday, huh Ed?

This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.
Alethan: I'm good with NOT pressing our luck this time.
mjulius: That's how I know I'm home.
Pulpatoon: The whole point of PbP is to take the scheduling pressure off the game. We're just chatty because we're so eager!
Scott308: ...everyone should be reminded of just how wonderful the people they play games with here can be in real life.
Leitz: Quality and quantity wise, I think US is the best I've seen.
Paladin: I can promise terror, glory, and riches...or a quick and brutal death.
Inferno: Come on! That's was Vicar's Head, a completely different doomed village!
Rex: I can move to the wait list to let someone else into the game.
