To clear up a potential misunderstanding, Ellith, Cinders, and Vali all concur that both locations have both small and large footprints. Thus, both locations have seen goblin activity.

The tower also has the halfling print (a big barefoot, not a bootprint), and some human-sized foot prints (like human, orc, dwarf, gnoll, and such).

The hilltop entrance has lots of both sized footprints, including one that is deeper than the rest (the heavy man Cinders described),
but no halfling print.

Also, there are animal tracks all over the place.

Ellith

"I had not voiced any opinion yet" - Ellith raised an eyebrow - "But I am in favor of the group remaining united"

Lia

"It is never wise to weaken our forces without necessity," Lia states very much against the idea of splitting the group. "We should follow the tracks and find the fate of this halfling."

(DM's note - mapping should be very easy for now)

The stairway down under the tower is 10' wide. The stairs go down towards the south 10' (laterally) to a 10' by 10' landing.

In the lead, Brondulm and Vali head down to the landing, where the stairs continue down 10' (laterally) to the left (which is east), ending at a door.

Edit to add: Light sources??

In general, torches and lanterns foil infravision.

Lia

Follows Myrrh down the stairs, Lia keeps a firm hand on her weapon, keeping watchful eyes ahead at what his torch illuminates.

Brondulm

Gets to the door and listens carefully to see if he can hear any sounds on the other side (1 or 2 on d6 DM rolls) ? If he hears none, he will examine the door to determine if there is a trap (10% plus rabbit's foot bonus of 10%) and if there is a lock to pick to open it (15% plus bonus of 10%).

Please let me know if you want me to roll the detect trap then the pick lock

(DM's note - in the future, you can roll yourself, but I will tell you if it works or not.)

Listen [1d6]=3. Find Trap [1d100]=82

Brondulm leans forward to listen at the door, but hears nothing but his own heart beating. Next, the thief scans the door and frame for anything unusual or dangerous. Finding nothing, he tries the door latch. It is not locked, so he pushes the door open....

Torchlight spills into the darkness revealing a room that extends 30' east past the door and open up 20' south. Among some debris are 6 small humanoids with gray-green skin and long pointed noses. "Goblins!" Vali hisses.

The goblins hold spears and move to attack!

INITIATIVE! PCs [1d6]=3 Goblins [1d6]=1

(PCs win initiative! Actions? One goblin is significantly larger/tougher than the other 5.)

Brondulm

As he is entering the room and moving to the south wall in the room to let some of the more armored members of the party into the room, he reaches into his purse to pull a coin (Pulling coin from purse 1-10=SP, 11-16=GP [1d16]=13; damn I hope this works) and says: Come on fellas, we can all be friends and here is a little something to show my appreciation of you. and he flips the gold coin into the air toward the advancing goblins.

-1 GP hopefully that can be collected after we resolve this encounter

Vali(npc)

Vali moves in to the left/north to clear the path for the others.

(holding action/bowfire until other pcs declare actions)

Myrrh

Myrrh charges the largest goblin.

Vow Bound Sword [1d20+1]=6+1=7 to hit [1d8+1]=3+1=4 damage

If the goblin's count as agents of chaos he gets another +2 to hit. Not sure what a charge gets him in OSE.

(I do not see any "Charge" rules in the basic rules. In such close quarters, a proper charge is unnecessary, and the attack is a miss anyway.)

Myrrh rushes forward, swinging at the largest goblin. He misses!

Vali fires his bow at the smallest goblin. Attack with Short bow [1d20+4]=1+4=5 Damage [1d6+1]=1+1=2 He misses!
Locked
