Sir Dewey

The Knight kneels in prayer for Gerdal. When he rises, he lays his hand on hers and addresses her. "I failed you. I'm sorry. May you find peace in the next stage."

He turns and walks out, gathering his thoughts and trying to rebound from the loss. The Knight stands at the entrance to the baptism room, back at the spot where things went sideways.

Amos does not seem overly concerned about the current situation with Gerdal. He closes his eyes for a moment, as if communing with his own god. He eventually addresses the distressed Paladin.

“Arcantryl has spoken to me. I do not think this will be the end for Gerdal, though I can’t say exactly why. I just sense that something unforeseen will still save her.”

The reformed cleric wonders why the group wasn’t this concerned over the demise of Sven and Orgoth.

Well, maybe SD likes Gerdal more. :P But seriously, he still has hope for Sven and Orgoth where no more remains for Gerdal.

Same, and we could not talk them out of it, and Gerdal did not want to get poisoned 😊

He collapses to his knees, trying to find a pulse and holding his breath. After about 5 seconds, he starts mumbling to himself as he moves aside some of the shredded spider silk jerkin to reach a vest pocket, and drawing forth a playing card while holding Gerdal's hand with the other. He turns it over and over as his eyes start to glaze over Wha wld i take? So mch? Wha bout? roll mmble dice, fair enou.. his voice trails off as his eyes roll back, he sways back and forth before collapsing next to Gerdal, two playing cards now held in his hand.

Gideon

Through tear-streaked eyes and unsurmountable grief at yet another sudden loss of a new comrade, Gideon feels unease and at first isn't sure what he's seeing

"SOMETHING FOUL IS AFOOT! THE SNAKE, THE SNAKE!!!"

Scorpion Room:

'where o' death is your sting?'

Gideon, prays, reading scripture from his holy books,

"Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption ... For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality ... Then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. Death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?"

Isvand, a long time comrade of the dying sorceress pours out his grief at her stricken state and reaching into his own mortality. He takes an adventuring token to lay among the other memorial trinkets. As he does so his shadow elongates, reaching out in a macabre fashion to overshadow Gerdal, several limb like arms coil around her body, almost like Kali herself has come to embrace her and drag her soul away in death. Yet the shadow discolours, fading from grey-black of eclipsed illumination to a sickly green shade, a venomous corruption.

Suddenly Isvand collapses to the floor, slumping underneath the tables, comatose. Gerdal coughs up spittle and drool, her lungs breaking out in heavy gasps and potential death throes.

The shadow recedes to normality, the bizarre scene over ... but not entirely. Death it seems cannot be cheated and the clockwork cobra, itself a construct guardian, whirrs into animation. Hissing, it rises up ready to strike, open fanged to strike out but inexplicably missing. Gideon reacts, trying to splatter the possessed construct.

Iron Cobra: [1d20+2]=3+2=5 [1d3]=1

Amos, prophesying correctly that Fateful mysteries are still at work.

The call of alarm brings back those who grieve and those still conscious can act. Gnimish, Isvand & Gerdal are all comatose. Some life blossom of colour returns to her cheeks but her life is still in the balance.

Iron Cobra: [1d20+2]=5+2=7 [1d3]=1

The cobra strikes out but misses the cleric.

Sir Dewey can do a CPR medic check or invoke his Lay on of Hands ability.

Cosmo, Gideon, Amos can attack the cobra.

Patra-patra pulls the halfling free of danger.

Actions please.

Is Gnimish still comatose from the after-effects even after the CLW? I might've overlooked something

Yes, it is due to his constitution dropping to a level that is below the minimum Constitution allowed for a gnome at character generation. So he passes out until his resilience is restored (by rest & recuperation) at +1 point of Con per hour / rest.

This is also true for Isvand, hence falling comatose too.

Amos sees people dropping like flies around him, causing him to instinctively swipe at the suddenly appearing snake construct.

Sir Dewey

"What are you yelling about?!" The Knight comes trotting in at the commotion. He spots the iron snake and then his eyes fall upon the breathing form of Gerdal. "What? How?"

The how doesn't matter right now to SIr Dewey, all he sees is a ray of hope. He rushes over to move Gerdal away from the threat and takes the opportunity to lay on hands.

+6hp?

Iron Cobra: [1d20+2]=8+2=10 [1d3]=3

The metal monster tries to bite the hands or legs of those that surround it. Its venomous fangs drip with poison, similar to the scorpions in deadliness, but least with a bite over a sting, you might be able to suck a victim out of poisoned blood.

It was Treyvor's repaired contraption but it doesn't respond to any direction from the gnome artificer. It sways with a murderous hissing, possessed of a deathly spirit cheated from taking Gerdal away.

Under the blessings of St Ygg, she rouses, gaining health and breath, coughing up the last remnants of poisoned phlegm that clots her lungs. Alive, barely, she can act and her Familiar calms down, suddenly taking a stony skin colour as chameleons might and the sorceress blends into the wall background and white cloak of the paladin.

As he stands, taking his large cudgel and shield in hand, the Sunshield illuminates, creating a cone of light that dazzles brightly. The snake hisses, reacting beyond a mere construct might, confirming a suspicion the awakening of the iron cobra has more devilish than clockwork origins.

Patra-patra drags the unconscious Isvand into the smaller secret room, the miners take Gnimish. Inside that room is the body of the original halfling adventurer stung by the scorpions and the open coffer.

Inside the coffer are several shiny gemstones that glitter as rare and precious crystals might. To the best of his knowledge, Cosmo who investigated the coffer originally and had the best view of its interior, might have assumed the coffer was actually empty apart from the two construct guardians.

Actions please, Gerdal, Amos, SD, Cosmo & Gideon.

Cosmo tires to ignore the background noise with the happenings, but fails to focus enough to throw accuracy.

Sir Dewey

He helps surround the contraption, finding a spot in the melee to smash down and end the threat. Unfortunately, he isn't able to find a good spot.
