Discussion (out of character thread)
Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
Be thinking about the cost of food stores for the winter. I know it's early, but Ji-ho wants to be prepared for the cold season when people can't adventure as much. It'll be a good time to work on the watch tower, though, assuming we get the rest of the critters out, and the doors set right. If he can start buying, and cultivating relationships with farmers, it'll be easier to spread the work over the summer and fall.
Is our watch tower at hex 43,19? If so that mean's we're the next hex over from Raven's Keep, and only two hexes from the forest, where we can get timber and different food-stuffs for building and supply. If we're at 41,19 then we're still close to woodlands, and need to investigate any rumors about whatever is in 39,18.

Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
While adventuring is always the most profitable way to earn coin you do have Skills that can be used to secure winter lodgings and offset your costs. No one will freeze at the watchfort if they don't mind the close quarters; the Ogre treasure included a cord of wood and the enterprising can also harvest grasses and dung.
The battle with the Ogres was at 41, 19. The land is resource poor but its excellent for grazing.
43,19 is where you saw those ants.
39,18 is the location of a the shrine I mentioned where the bishop stopped for a day to go pray. You can ask the locals more if you want.

Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
Some accounting is in order. I only need to know how much cash the PCs have, and where they are keeping it. NPC money just flushes into a black hole once its awarded.
Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
Si-woo's vow money was turned over to Gurav, so that whenever the oathweight is to be paid, the extra money will go with it. Where does Gurav recommend keeping larger sums?
Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
Sir Kyl is bursar of the Knights of the Green Lily but also a member of The Poor Knights of the Hospital which handles banking in Borderton. Of course, as a foreigner, Ji-ho's tithes are likely not up to date so Sir Kyl will be forced to charge him the maximum penalty to issue a letter of credit: 2 shillings.
Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
If you can all find an excuse to interact with Morwen please do, otherwise I will use an NPC to make the introduction when we are ready to move on.
Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
Thank you all for posting and for making me wonder if Dwarves and Ravens just don't like each other and I should add that into the setting.

Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
well the dwarf was friendly but apparently Ravens don't care for that from short folk.
Bofur doesn't like rudeness for the sake of being rude. Had the dwarf stepped on Morwen's foot or something he would have understood.

Morwen more just found it strange that she was approached by two people when she's not used to dealing with non-Ravens.GreyWolfVT wrote: ↑Sat Nov 18, 2023 10:06 pm well the dwarf was friendly but apparently Ravens don't care for that from short folk.

Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
Ok, thanks for clarifying. I am a bit anxious about PCs getting into arguments due to what happened at the beginning of the game, so please use this as an opportunity and not a bludgeon going forward.
I will post today to move along. Feel free to continue any RP of course and ask any questions that come up.

Is everyone on board with heading back to the site of the Orge battle to begin clearing the watchforts? You can expect them to be small dungeons of a dozen or fewer rooms from what the dwarvenfolk can recall of how they are built.

Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
Works for me. The Jing's probably need to stock up on extra gear, like shields, swords, etc. They seem to break every now and then.

Barnaby's happy to go for glory! Dramm, too. Sengrim ... who knows.

Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
Morwen is, obviously, interested in exploring, and getting practical adventuring experience.
Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
I will be read only this weekend, until Sunday evening.
Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
Past few days have been a bear. Will update tomorrow.
Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
Do forgive me for using Voice of DM to integrate Morwen. I do it only in the interest of keeping things moving.
If no one wants to react to the last post I'll move on to the travel post.

No worries here; Welcome Morwen!

You have made it to the fort. Time to make plans. Also time for me to find the map!
