scarik, are the gray rectangles in some of the hexes, like 38,19, 41,19, and 43,19 the watchtowers? Or is the watchtower 39,18 and the gray rectangles something else? Is there another Dwarven hold in 18,24?

For the ogre heads, I still think the combination of Rolton for local knowledge and Barnaby for story-crafting will serve us best. Both of them, and Ji-ho, are nobles who want to build their reputation.

The original group members need to lose 5% of their coin for taxation. I'll take care of Ji-ho's band tomorrow. Maybe now the NPCs will attract henchmen and hirelings. :)

You weren't supposed to be able to see all of those Grey boxes. They indicate there is a DM note lol.

Most of them are the watch towers tho. The closest one to Ravenswell just indicates the ant encounter.

Sir Tylar has a bunch of bugbear heads that he thought were impressive. He's good natured though that you have one upped him.

How far are the watch towers from the road? My guess would be that they would be very close, but I'm not sure.

The road is at the base of the hill. You crossed it from where you camped at first to the Ogres so about 50 yards.

Also apparently Bofur and company are familiar with the area at least if the facts in the private forum is accurate they travel the area a lot before they were taken and imprisoned due to their trading with other civilizations

Indeed. Bofur's home village is marked on the map. His knowledge of the dwarf roads means you can't get lost while on them due to him being a Prospector and his Stonecunning ability from being a dwarf.

We have to pay 5% of income for the "license", do we still get XP for that cash, even though it is quickly spent?

If that's true, then here's the FULL list of XP and Coin. This should supercede all other notes on treasure. I'm posting it here for review; if there are no corrections then we can move it to the treasure thread.

IIUC, we got 18,120 in coin equivalent, and 3,195 xp. Coin are rounded to the nearest whole number. Of course, technically, we never returned the shield to be taxed, it was sold on site. :)

Code: Select all

./allocate_shares.py -c 18_120 -x 3195
One share is 3442 cash and 3979 xp.
ji-ho gets 3442 in coin and 3979 in XP.
siwoo gets 1721 in coin and 1989 in XP.
rolton gets 1721 in coin and 1989 in XP.
drotik gets 1721 in coin and 1989 in XP.
hemia gets 1721 in coin and 1989 in XP.
morphin gets 860 in coin and 994 in XP.
barnaby gets 3442 in coin and 3979 in XP.
sengrim gets 1721 in coin and 1989 in XP.
dramm gets 860 in coin and 994 in XP.
gurav gets 0 in coin and 3979 in XP.
borav gets 0 in coin and 3979 in XP.
hodlar gets 0 in coin and 3979 in XP.
korev gets 0 in coin and 3979 in XP.
Gave out 17210 coin and 35811 xp. Paid 906 in tax.

You get XP for coins, gems and misc goods you return safely to town. Paying taxes doesn't take that away from you.

However, you get zero xp for magic items. Not for finding them and not for selling them. The reasons being that if you keep them then their value to you is that you have a powerful advantage and if you sell it they are worth a fortune.

Okay, I'll fix that. Do we still have to pay taxes on the magic items?

Cool, thanks.

I am feeling better, thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. Now, of course, I have a PVD in one eye. While there's a small chance of losing vision in that eye, there's a strong annoyance of a floating thing in the middle of my field of view. It's like having a cockroach running around the screen of my life. Ugh!

"Floaters" according to my eye doctor. I've had those since I was about 20ish rather annoying I will admit. But gad you are feeling better Leitz.

I separated out the NPCs for hire into its own thread.

Do you want to see the same thing done for the major Locations?

Ji-ho wants to build a small military group, and get them trained. They will be guards at night, warriors during outdoor fights, and will build/guard the camp that we make at Kraka Grak. They won't be dungeoneering, but Ji-ho will be picky about who he hires. The ones that sign on now will be trained to be unit leaders down the road. That may mean he gets fewer options, but there will be a good quality there.

On a funny note, the bonus for us hiring because we're brave enough to fight our number in ogres might be offset because we fought our number in ogres. Some mercenaries just don't want that sort of risk, and some do.

On the "other major locations", right now Ji-ho is focused on the military unit stuff. Barnaby, Bofur, and Morwen are probably better suited to round out the group's capabilities.

I am using some GM fiat to fix the map to make things more concise. I'll replace the one in Plot thread with it. All that changes is the lost dwarf road now passes through Ravenswell. I had noticed there ought to be another watchfort otherwise and I just don't want to crowd the map with settlements so close to each other. As of now the watchfort that should have been there is Ravenswell instead.

Does anyone know what the second dark triangle is, past Kraka Grak?

Working on some notes for you.

Kraka Zovbar: Another lost dwarven holdfast, or one that simply shut its gates. Given the terrain it takes a week and a half to travel between them with good weather. Once Kraka Grak fell there was no reason to do so and hasn't been for fifty years.

Ji-ho has a self (short) bow and Si-woo has a longbow. Any objection to them using the arrows we assume are magical?

Is anyone else interested in building their status?

Since no one else can use them I call it fair. It will make your ranged attacks much better.
