Drest

Drest is for exploring towards the sound of water.

Under The Zakath Desert
The Ruined Warlords Palace/Basement
Late Afternoon

The petals of the once golden pinecone continue to brown while you watch, as if spoiling before your very eyes. The heart remains intact, not wilting as it's petals seem to be doing.

Belloc hands over his rope, though several of his companions seem to prefer staying in this moldy prison instead of further exploration.

Akhilleus tosses a chunk of rubble down the dark, wet, sloping passage. It bounces and clunks off the stone walls until the sound is drowned out by the rushing water noise below.

Kainaxarthos enters the passage to get a feel of the wetness on the walls, finding no slime to speak of, only a moist condensation likely caused by the running water below.

Though the rope hasn't yet been secured, Drest agrees to go below first to have a quick look around.

Please include a d12 roll with your next actions for any attempts to traverse the passage.

Xenos looks around for somewhere to secure the rope. Could we use the larger pieces of rubble from the collapsed stairway?

It could be tied to the cell door.

Xenos ties the rope to the cell door then proceeds to test the door to make sure he thinks it'll take the weight.

Kainaxarthos

"I'll follow you down." He remarks to Drest, double-checking the rope. "We'll call up when it's safe." He listens down below. "Or probably just tug the rope."

Drest

"Since no one else is I will try the pine cone."

Drest eats all the pine cone parts.

He then goes over and inspects the rope and how it is tied off, if satisfied he will tie it off around his waist and start down.

Ceana

The druid can't hide the worry on her face and tells those venturing into the shaft to be careful. She then stands with Drest and prepares to help with the rope if needed.

Belloc
follows closely behind the group, patiently awaiting his turn to descend. While biding his time, he double-checks the knot, ensuring that he can efficiently retrieve the rope after his descent.

Crestos, flutters around him with eager anticipation, emitting a concerned hoot as he zips through the air.

Once he reaches the bottom, Belloc carefully retrieves the rope and stows it back in his trusty backpack.

Cyril is in no hurry to head down the rope. Instead he stays near the knot on the cell door, making sure the rope is holding securely, even keeping one hand loosely on the rope.

I would be interested to learn how someone could untie a rope after descending below in the first place.

Taibhse

Addressing Drest & Sik: I'd suggest we move to the cell they're descending from and that way we can protect their way out, and allow us to watch the approach so that there is but a narrow approach to us. He'll wait and assist them as they move in that direction.

you need leave a second thread that you can pull from the bottom to untie it, the rope is 50', it could be feasible if the drop is ~20' to 25', im not sure it was specified how long the drop was, i would adjust the post to add he tries to measure and adjust the length, although it might not be a good idea as they would be removing their escape route, well, on second though he would not remove the rope but if he can leave enough slack to remove it after he would

Xenos

The ixian looks confused.

"I thought a small group was going to head down first to check it is a valid route forward before others followed."

Xenos certainly doesn't plan to stay here if we were moving forward but I didn't think we were at that point yet. I'd like to know where it leads first.

Oh, I see.

I suppose if the rope was 50 feet, one could loop it back on itself and hold onto both ends as you descend, though that would shorten the 50 foot rope to 25'.

The idea of tying a string or twine to the loose end of the knot would work too, I suppose. But it would require 50 feet of twine along with the rope.

We won't need to worry about it either way if you plan to leave it in place.

Belloc nods
you're right Kain, we should leave our options open and a way to backtrack

Sik nods, clearly confused and bewildered as his fever worsens, but decides to trust in his allies to come up with a good plan. He heads towards the cell.

Under The Zakath Desert
The Ruined Warlords Palace/Basement
Late Afternoon

With a feeling like it may come back to haunt them, Drest pops the remaining cone petals and the heart in his mouth and starts chewing. With his hunger already sated, the only other affect the cone has is to heal his minor wound completely. (healed 24 hit points, but was only down 1)

Tying a rope to the door, Drest, Kain, and Belloc begin their descent down the slippery slope. After a few feet, Drest thinks he could traverse the tunnel without the rope, though he is a pretty good climber. Making their way down the entire 65 foot drop, the last 15 feet must be traveled without the use of the rope. Belloc and Drest make the remaining distance easily, though they need to catch Kain when he slips a little at the very bottom.

All the trio can hear is the rushing of the underground river a few feet away from their landing. Standing in total darkness, on a shore of flat stone pebbles, the only person who can make anything out down here is Belloc, looking through the eyes of his owl Crestos. The bird flutters around in the open area, seeing the wide river, the shoreline, and what appears to be a dark structure a short distance to the southwest.
