I was just throwing that out as a hypothetical

Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
The most important thing I need to know from the PCs right now is how you are going to proceed.
There is treasure. Some of it is easy to move. Some of it is not. What do you do there?
You have wounded. None of them should be marching, especially not the humans with their lower saves and worse injuries. Do you want to try and get help or camp here alone?

Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
It depends on the rate of healing the spell-casters can provide. They will make a huge difference in the timelines, I think.
Right now, Si-woo is pushing his people and asking others to find water, move their camp into the watch tower, and take care of the wounded and the rescued. He asked Sengrim to cook up a nice meal for everyone, from party supplies plus what can be found from the treasure.
Whenever Ji-ho is back to talking, he'll second that motion. He will also discuss with Barnaby, Rolton, and Gurav the idea of claiming the watch tower as a forward base; suggesting Barnaby or Rolton consider taking the lead on the project. He will also suggest the freed dwarves be given back the tools and materials, etc, and that the group returns to Raven's Well to let the merchant dwarves return to their plans, and everyone else to refit and restock.
The Hill dwarves are welcome to join us, as long as Gurav doesn't see an issue with it. Ji-ho has no idea how the two dwarven cultures interact.

Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
The magical healing you have available can only instantly heal Minor Wounds. More powerful healing magic requires you to return to Borderton or go to Springkeep.
Ji-Ho's Massive Wound will take a month to become Major, a week to drop to Moderate and a Day to go to Minor. Good rolls can push that up but its a month minimum.

Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
Then the choice seems to be to recover in place, and explore the area, or return to Borderton. The trip back would be difficult for the injured and the freed.
How did Ji-ho's and Rolton's rolls affect their healing? Both passed well, Rolton did excellent.

Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
Looking at supplies, I do not think that we have more than a month of provisions for all of us. So the entire party staying together at the hill fort until everyone has healed will not work. Transporting the massively and majorly wounded back to Springkeep will be arduous but only a few days of it. Perhaps we should leave a forward base at the underground watch "tower," manned by the unwounded dwarves? Barnaby and the other humans can help the wounded back to Springkeep. It would be a bit of split-the-party but might be the sensible thing to do.

Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
There was a lot of food in the treasure; scarik, how long could the extended party last with joint food shares? Far as we know, Sengrim is the only one able to forage well.
Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
Check the treasure. You will likely get some ideas from it when you combine it with the 6 craftsmen you just rescued.
Rolton gets +1 to all further rolls for this injury. Both are well on their way to recovery (ie it will get better) but its still broken bones.
Ravenswell is only a day of marching. Less if Barnaby goes alone and pushes himself. Most people don't want necromancers for friends but you can always ask.tibbius wrote: ↑Thu Oct 19, 2023 8:03 pm Looking at supplies, I do not think that we have more than a month of provisions for all of us. Let me generate the precise occupations of the rescued dwarves...
Hill Dwarf occupations [_6d100]=(84+51+71+63+82+45)=396
Navigator, Carpenter, Trapper, 3 Laborers
So you have 2 skilled foragers.
Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
I'm going to double down on Barnaby thinking that Ravenswell is Springkeep ... unless somebody who knows the area corrects him!

Ravenswell is at least on-the-way-to Springkeep and a better waypoint than trying to cut straight across the grasslands to a place that Barnaby's never been.

Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
Call me crazy but we probably could convince the rescued prisoners to carry some of the treasure as a cut for them to get back on their feet.

Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
Mountain Dwarves are known for their unforgiving adherence to rules and Gurav is an exemplar of that. As far as Gurav is concerned everyone on this quest is now an honorary member of his Clan (actual Dwarves are invited to join fully, the Hill Dwarf NPCs respectfully decline). He also considers this tiny, unimportant hill to be sacred ground and will gladly share the cost of refurbishing it.
His actual mandwarfpower is low since he's the thane of a lost hold, but his wealth is considerable by human standards and he plans to spend all of it getting his mountain back if that's what it takes. The Hill Dwarves largely consider him a loon. They respect his integrity, but right now they think his quest is mad.
That said there is a piece of non-physical treasure that the navigator can give you all: he knows where the old roads are and can draw you a map. They've been overgrown but their foundations remain and so you can use them to move wheeled carts (theirs were destroyed by the ogres, if only there was a woodworker...) and of course you can't get lost on them as easily.

If my math is correct, here are the cash and XP gotten. The cash only counts the coin and gems! It does not cover magic items or the supplies and tools that were found. scarik, correct me if I'm wrong, but the XP is just for monsters, right? So a share of XP would be 1164 (cash) plus 355 for kills?
Code: Select all
One share is 1164.0 cash and 355.0 xp.
ji-ho gets 1164.0 in coin and 355.0 in XP.
siwoo gets 582.0 in coin and 177.5 in XP.
rolton gets 582.0 in coin and 177.5 in XP.
drotik gets 582.0 in coin and 177.5 in XP.
hemia gets 582.0 in coin and 177.5 in XP.
morphin gets 291.0 in coin and 88.75 in XP.
barnaby gets 1164.0 in coin and 355.0 in XP.
sengrim gets 582.0 in coin and 177.5 in XP.
dramm gets 291.0 in coin and 88.75 in XP.
gurav gets 0.0 in coin and 355.0 in XP.
borav gets 0.0 in coin and 355.0 in XP.
hodlar gets 0.0 in coin and 355.0 in XP.
korev gets 0.0 in coin and 355.0 in XP.
Began with 5820 in coin and 3195 xp, gave out 5820.0 coin and 3195.0 xp.

Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
Alright I suppose one of the Hill Dwarves I'll try and roll up so I have character rather than an NPC loyal to another. I'll have to do that after work today or maybe this weekend.

Cool! if he's a fighter type, then he'll have access to some slightly used arms and armor.GreyWolfVT wrote: ↑Fri Oct 20, 2023 11:36 am Alright I suppose one of the Hill Dwarves I'll try and roll up so I have character rather than an NPC loyal to another. The Dwarves should still get a share of the XP from the recovered treasure, even though they won't take the treasure itself. Then they give it to you all as payment essentially. You don't get XP for that.
But to avoid the second step I am going to just award you that exact amount as Quest XP to make the math work. It's not enough actual XP to worry about.

You are correct that the XP number I gave you is just for the monsters themselves. You will get the additional XP from your share of the treasure once you return it safely to civilization.
