Discussion (out of character thread)
Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
I worked on the combat results before bed but left it on my PC desktop. I'll update after wo3k today.

Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
For the record, if Ji-ho croaks, I'll keep things going with Si-woo or Rolton until I can make another PC. That's one of the risks of a "from the front" type of leader.

Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
I think I would go with Hodlar Morrgrak until I could be introduced as my own character at a future date/time.

Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
Speaking of potential deaths, its now in the hands of the RNG. Ji-Ho gets -1 to his roll for being at -1hp.
tibbius, I forgot to ask if you knew you could Inspire Allies again before the fighting started... would you?

Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
As of right now I am going to go with the fall of the dice and have Ji-Ho incapacitated. He was not instantly killed so as long as you all win the day he has a chance. If you don't everyone is Ogre food...
The immediate consequence is that Si-woo promotes to acting PC. Leitz I have no doubt you will play him appropriately.

Go for it. I can't say there is too much to decide in a battle, but you have some options: stay back, aid the injured, join the melee. The time for ranged attacks is now over, everything will be decided in melee from here on out.GreyWolfVT wrote: ↑Mon Oct 16, 2023 9:23 pm I think I would go with Hodlar Morrgrak until I could be introduced as my own character at a future date/time.

Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
Aid the wounded sounds like the right thing to do.

Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
Whew. It was bloody but its over.
I'm going to say its reasonable that the nearly dead Ogre gets cut down as it flees. You simply don't have the damage output to stop the Leader and the last one though. So congratulations of what will one day be your first recurring enemy.
He does drop his shield though.
Barnaby, Sengrim, Drotik, Hemia, Hodlar and Borav have hit points above 0.
Si-Woo is Stable at 0hp. He doesn't need any assistance.
Dramm, Gurav and Korev are Wounded, not Stable at 0hp. They are conscious but can't exert themselves without making another Save and possibly getting worse.
Ji-Ho and Rolton are Incapacited, Wounded, not Stable at 0hp. They are helpless and not conscious.
Gilmer is unfortunately already dead. Nothing can be done for him.
Magic can be used to help the Wounded and the Incapacitated. No one has any spell points left though so you will need to perform the spell as a Ritual. Normally this would be a decision about cost of reagents vs time, but Borav has plenty of reagents and Gurav commands him to share them freely so you don't have to pay the cost here.
You have three people who can help with the Ritual: Barnaby, Borav and Hemia so you get +2 to each roll. I will assume Borav (as a full cleric) leads because he gets another +1 to the rolls.
Questions?

So the next round, while you have Hodlar dragging people out of melee so they didn't get stepped on the fight ended.
Ogres take captives (I these ones do have a few) but if you want to make a character now then I will add to the total and you can be freed with them. The pro of this is immediate addition to the game and a very good reason to get on well with the other PCs and you will have starting knowledge of the prisoners and how the Ogres got here. The con is that starting henchmen are limited to the other prisoners and well, you owe the rescuers your life.

Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
Do I have time to think on that? I'm not sure I am overly worried about creating my own character tbh.

And if you like Hodlar you can keep him but if you want to avoid his particular backstory you can make an identical dwarf machinist who was captured by ogres.

When rolling a spell die at +2 do I roll [d6+2] or [d10]?

Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
Si-woo will be acting as lieutenant in Ji-ho's place. Si-woo is a good administrator, but not nearly a charismatic leader like his cousin. He's shared what his people are doing, and he's going into the cave. That'll open the door for any new PCs, and confirm that the battle is actually over.

very good, sir:

Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
I've added more to the rules do. Most germane is how Wounds actually work.
The magic you have available is enough to keep everyone alive, free of infection and speed them on the mend. Its still going to be a day for Korev, a week for Gurav and a month at least for the others to fully heal. I don't have a satisfactory wound generator for this but we can use the time it takes to heal as a guide. That means Korev is largely just bruised up and cut, Gurav has sprains and deeper contusions while the others have broken bones at least.
You have rescued the prisoners, all of them are Derrigar, aka Hill Dwarves. They are the dwarves who don't live in mountain holds and are much more familiar to humans. They are often itinerant traders or prospectors.
Gurav and kin are Mountain Dwarves. Their cultures are akin to the urban-rural divide here in the US.
I'm going to assume you want the treasure here. Some of it belonged to the people you have rescued and some to the poor ones who were already eaten. The rest was pillaged from luckier people who didn't get captured. The captives are quite happy to have their lives, any treasure you return to them depends on your generosity. You will get both their gratitude and bonus XP for doing so.
For defeating the Ogres you earn their full XP value even if they fled.
11 Ogres @ 190ea., 1 Leader @ 505 = 2595XP
6 captives rescued is an additional 600XP
Treasure under the spoiler. Only what you recover and return to town counts for XP @ 1 silver penny = 1XP

Ji-ho recovery @+2 gives 9: Pair dice roll [_2d6]=(2+5)=7
Rolton recovery @+2 gives 12: Pair dice roll [_2d6]=(5+5)=10
Do those at 0 HP need to roll for healing?

Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
Si-woo will do his best to organize rest for everyone, while maintaining a guard, and keeping everyone fed. I'm not sure what the next step is, but he'll do what he can to ensure everyone gets there together.

I've never actually had to stat a gnome in these rules. My notes say "dwarf, add Small, can mage"
