Discussion (out of character thread)
Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
I think going by your pair method as described, it would be:
Neil Gaiman: "I started imagining a world in which we replaced the phrase 'politically correct' wherever we could with 'treating other people with respect', and it made me smile."..."I know what you’re thinking now. You’re thinking 'Oh my god, that’s treating other people with respect gone mad!'"

I do like the changing dice.

I used 2d6 + mods for ease moat of the time. Snake eyes is still a fail.
I will accept your roll. It still won't help attacks but it applies to all skills as well which may come up.
Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
I'm writing up some code to figure out shares, and need to ask about the dwarves. They obviously get XP shares, but do they get cash shares from the ogres? IIUC, the "Ji-ho and company get all the treasure" may be limited to once we enter the dwarven hold. I'm okay either way, just trying to code the right stuff.
Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
I haven't thought of it but the dwarves don't care about money so long as you keep your word.
Non monetary treasure will need RP to decide.

Peanut Gallery chiming in: In what world do dwarves not care about treasure?
Well at least gems and gemstones anyway and fine craftsmanship. That aside sure they love the simpler things in life.
Told you I'd lurk.

They are paying a few thousand coin to get tens of millions, even a greedy dwarf can do honest business now and again.GreyWolfVT wrote: ↑Tue Oct 10, 2023 11:39 pm Peanut Gallery chiming in: In what world do dwarves not care about treasure?Well at least gems and gemstones anyway and fine craftsmanship. Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
Honest work true, they tend to be the laborers and smiths. So that I can certainly agree on.
Just ignore the fact that I've played several thiefish dwarves. "Nothing to see here! Disperse!"

There is a dwarf thief NPC that you could probably play... Just sayin'.....

The Thane is the one who doesn't care. Honor debt he's here to clear or die trying. The others are retainers that are likewise screwed if they fail and will be rich if they succeed. They don't need Ogre loot.
Well unless there is actually something Dwarven or such.

Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
Leitz tempting, but I'm all set at the moment. THe GM gave me lurker rights and didn't know that meant ability to post in the game.
scarik I can get behind that thinking. As a fairly avid dwarf player I'd not want ogre loot either unless it by chance as you said had dwarf treasure within.

Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
Oh, that's one of the few things I have figured out. I figure eventually the temptation will grow too great and you will want to play. Being able to post on a whim will make resisting harderGreyWolfVT wrote: ↑Wed Oct 11, 2023 1:05 am Leitz tempting, but I'm all set at the moment. The cave entrance is a zone line of sorts. The initial combat resolves before anything else can happen due to congestion in the entrance.
After we determine the result of the 0hp Buyean you will have a very brief respite to try and catch your breath.

Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
Ji-ho will take the hit, and is at 0 HP. He made his save with an 8, and if Barnaby's Inspire Allies applies, he's up to a 9. So Major Effect, but he is stable, correct?
Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
Correct. Ji-ho gets walloped and either his weapons or his armor are degraded. A broken spear is usually preferable to damaged armor or you can choose an injury instead (because someone can cast Cure Wounds on him). He's stable in any case.

I might succumb to the temptation but not on this day.

Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
Okay, I'm not sure I get the wording on this. Ji-ho has 1 HP, and the Ogre hits. Because of the Save, I have a Major Effect. Can I choose to lose an item instead of taking the 1 HP? So that he is still at 1 HP but has a broken thing?
I know we have multiple healers, how does healing work? I didn't see anything specific in the rules.

He can choose to lose an appropriate item or to be wounded. You really should not choose that though. Lose a weapon or your helmet instead.
Regardless he's still at 0hp.
If he's not wounded he can roll to heal under the catch your breath section. Any hp not heal at that point can be restored by a Cure spell. The target regains hp based on the level of the spell.
So 1hp in this case.
Re: Discussion (out of character thread)
Okay, got it. His spear will be broken.
