Re: Barrowmaze: Territorial Gains.
Sven wonders if closing the coffin will stop the ooze. Or dumping out the water, maybe?
He has his servant take a handful of the black water and splash it on the growing pudding, to see if that affects it.
Keeping the landing area clear for the jumpers, he shouts at the group. “I can light this thing up if we can’t stop it, but everyone better be in one of these side rooms beforehand! Let’s move people!”

Orgoth
Orgoth will push/help anyone in front of him through the door and then run through himself, heading for the secret room.

Gerdal will do her best to keep the ooze at bay with her flames.

, -3hp on Black Pudding.Casts Burning Hands
Retain spell checks: Remember inside the Barrowmaze, all spell checks have an additional +1 retention modifier.
Dexterity check: anyone diving over the pooling Black Pudding through the slim breached wall adds a +1 modifier if they carry a shield as the gap in the unblocked wall is not that wide, especially for Orgoth who carries a large Aspis shield.
the water in the coffin has zero effect in the Black Pudding. He has his servant take a handful of the black water and splash it on the growing pudding, to see if that affects it.

Cosmo goes and jumps over the pudding.
Dex vs. 16 [3d6]=5
Additional dice for jump [1d6]=6 Total:11
Not as graceful as first thought, but still successful, I hope

“Maybe the pudding will stop if you close the coffin?”
Sven has the Unseen Servant try to push the lid back into place, sealing the coffer again.

Sir Dewey
He looks down at the dark water in the sarcophagus with disappointment. He's about to trawl the bottom when the walls start melting.
The Knight calculates his chances, sees the miners survive the encounter, and decides to try to jump.
Dex (9):[4d6]=18 It goes about as well as he thought. Good Paladins can't jump.

Re: Barrowmaze: Territorial Gains.
Sir Dewey: The large coffer, easily taller and wider than a man and stands waist high, containing murky water deep enough to cover the shaft of your weapon.
Choosing to take a leap of faith rather than investigate more, the paladin 'chooses unwisely' ...
I will wait on Isvand then resolve the action.

Re: Barrowmaze: Territorial Gains.
Isvand takes a few running steps, tripping right as he planned to leap. but manages to just clear the Black Pudding, before tucking into a roll, as if he meant that...
Once on his feet, he notes that fire seems to hurt it, and with Dewey trapped he asks should we try to burn it?!

Re: Barrowmaze: Territorial Gains.
Exploring De Ogilvy's chamber.
The priest encountered initially trying to gain entrance named himself as de Ogilvy, Adept Mason of the Grand Lodge of Arcantryl.
Amos thought he was apostate. Whatever, the Mage was charmed to aid the party before being torn apart by a barrow ghast abomination. He was seeking a relic in this chamber beyond the blocked up wall. Breached by the ramming miners now the group fulfills his quest, at least if the focus of his excavation was the scale shield, since a sarcophagus full of murky water seems less of a find. Disappointing the paladin Sir Dewey who looks into its murky depths with a sigh.
Once the black and gold coffer was opened, the Black Pudding leaked from the wall, spilling swiftly to burn several of the miners who stood before it. In alarm they evacuate the room.
The Black Pudding continues to spread, covering the next section of flagstones and nearing the adventurers gathered around the coffer, they are forced into decisions. Cosmo leaps prodigiously, maybe his zephyr heels adding to his speed of thought and body, he makes it through the slim breach, tumbling with an acrobatic somersault in the adjoining corridor.
Gideon takes a running jump. Orgoth assists by grabbing his collar in the manner of 'Aragorn tossing Gimli', his strength bonus hurling the young acolyte through the air and crucially through the breach.
Sir Dewey takes a leap of faith, a running jump that lands him splash down in the pooling Black Pudding.
Black Pudding damage: [2d8]=15
It is grievous, critically so, prone and smothered he is immersed in the acidic gel. His heavy armour , augmented shield and visored helm stave off some of the corrosive damage but it eats into his garb, burning exposed legs, arms and nether regions. -11hp.
Isvand jumps after, tripping slightly but he can recover to use the prone paladin as a blessed stepping stone and his small frame easily fits through the narrow gap.
It leaves Orgoth aline, the warrior stepping away from the spreading Pudding, retreating to the back wall or clambering onto the sarcophagus to escape his boots and feet melting away. A leap across the gap seems more difficult now. [5d6-3] vs Dex, giving you the Strength as an athletics bonus should you decide to leap.
Gerdal casts a fan of fire, the damage is minimal to sizzle the fringe of the Black Pudding -3hp Fire does damage the creature, blistering and cauterizing it into crispy balls of congealed gel.
The Unseen Servant, opens and shuts the lid to the coffer. It makes no change to the wall leaking Black Pudding which flows relentlessly to fill up 2/3rds of the chamber. Scooping up murky water has no effect. The water is not itself corrosive or damaging as the Unseen Servant is still in effect. The coffer is thick, heavy, solid and must have no leaks since it holds a bathtub or more of dirty water at least.
Sven considers drastic actions and a possible Fireball to immolate the threat.
Sir Dewey is still technically in the room but you may stagger out this next round and hopefully be attended to by comrades who can try to peel or burn the Pudding away from your skin.
Next actions everyone please.

so I will use your strength bonus to modify Gideon's leap by -3 but that is your action this round.Orgoth will push/help anyone in front of him through the door.

Re: Barrowmaze: Territorial Gains.
Sven starts to get nervous with everyone suddenly getting injured. He wonders what might happen to the black water if a cleric were to Purify the liquid.
He commands his Unseen helper to fish around at the bottom of the coffin, in case anything remains hidden under the water.
"Orgoth! If you can't make the jump, you might need to crawl inside the coffin to survive!!!"
The mage pulls out some components, but waits to see what happens before unleashing his next spell.
He looks at how the pudding is reacting. Does it appear to be moving into the room only, or is any of it trying to escape towards the group, through the breach?

Re: Barrowmaze: Territorial Gains.
The Black Pudding flows mainly towards filling the chamber in a thick carpet of BP a few inches thick (so not a mass blob or cube) It covers 2/3rds of the chamber, so the first 20'ft and climbs up the side walls to about knee height. As the bricked up wall is now breached, some BP flows outward a step into the corridor but that is more incidental than intentional.
Re: Barrowmaze: Territorial Gains.
SM, if Orgoth crawls into the coffee, would you allow a mending spell to seal the lid, at least partly, to the coffer?
I'm afraid the fireball will blow the lid off, litterally.

Re: Barrowmaze: Territorial Gains.
the sarcophagus is not broken so Mending will not be effective. The heavy wood seals firmly though.
Re: Barrowmaze: Territorial Gains.
Orgoth
Orgoth will try and get into the sarcophagus and close it behind him, "Get me out as soon as possible!"

Re: Barrowmaze: Territorial Gains.
Orgoth leaps into the open coffer, the Unseen Servant shutting the lid firmly behind him as the flowing Black Pudding pools all around the room, covering the flagstones just a moment behind his heels.
