OOC
Re: OOC
Tiv intends to carry his sonic stun carbine, PDL sidearm, and Monofilament sword (stealth dagger as well). He’ll wear his Advanced Poly Carapice armor…all the rest of the day.
He’ll secretly offer his Fletchette pistol and concealed shoulder holster to Remington … just in case.

Re: OOC
He will offer Roberta to Raven but it may be useful to have her on board as backup or to take care of any prisoners (Raven can advise on this).
Or
Leon could go with the raiding crew he is not unfamiliar with a scrap / he would take Roberta with him but act as a rear guard?
There was a plan to put on a demonstration fight for the Aslan, using Roberta. There is potential in that.
Time has run away with me again, the surveillance update will probably join the Medusa post on tomorrow's schedule.
Re: OOC
Should I join the fight? I'm not familiar with traveller combat system, but Sigbjorn seems to me so fragile that he could break his arm writing a poem

Re: OOC
Remington will be there, and he's an academic. Traveler is deadly enough that even a combat character needs to find every advantage they can, so I like to think of having 0 combat skills an incentive to get creative. Having the cat now helps. I was about to post in the main thread to Raven asking if I get a bodyguard since I'm such a weenie. It might make sense for you to hang out with me and have the religious types all in one place (Tiv can stay away, we don't need his heresy around).
Also, just a general thought/question: wasn't there some empty space in the cat when we upgraded/repaired the damaged systems? If we want to bring some extra toys we might be able to stuff them in there.

Well, one of them, perhaps - but the other arm is Better, Stronger, More ExpensiveSigbjorn seems to me so fragile that he could break his arm writing a poem

Traveller combat tends to be over quite quickly, with one of the combatants unconscious, or, depending on the weapons, dead.
There are no hit points. Damage is dealt to stats - Str, Dex, End. The first damage taken comes off End, subsequent damage goes on the stat you choose. Two stats at 0 is a knockout, three is fatal (without expert medical attention). Armour reduces damage (in Mongoose Traveller, which we are using).
Edit - which means good armour, a good weapon, and getting off the first shot are vital.
Robocat does have some storage space:
16: Stowage/Battery bay – A new power bank from Blackrock can easily be slotted in, leaving 24 litres of stowage (the original power cell took 5 litres of space). A carbine might be able to fit in the void, but rifles or bulky assault weapons would not.
Re: OOC
It has always been fairly brutal and is based on the concept of multi d6 worth of damage vs the value of one of your 2d6 stats (Endurance I believe) before wound effects occur.
The saving grace in this version of Traveller is that the defensive value of your armour acts as a negative DM for damage so you are looking at something like Damage = 3d6 minus armour value (which might range up to about 10). So with max armour (about a value of 10 for us at this Tech) we are likely to escape serious harm from "average/mid strength" weapons rolling average damage.
Offensively you need 8+ Hit on 2d6 adding Weapon Skill and other +ve DMs (e.g. from high Dex stat or tech gear). Damage is as listed per weapon.
By all means join in if you fancy it!
Simultaneous postage but I'll put this up anyway!

Re: OOC
Remington will have noticed that the Assault Group consists of Raven's two bodyguards (with their masssive boarding shields) and also that all of them are religious - with the exception of Steinn and Rúna (who may have anger issues).Gorethirster wrote: ↑Wed Jun 21, 2023 9:09 pm I was about to post in the main thread to Raven asking if I get a bodyguard since I'm such a weenie. Would it make sense for Remington to store "his" drones in the Thundercat?Gorethirster wrote: ↑Wed Jun 21, 2023 9:09 pm Also, just a general thought/question: wasn't there some empty space in the cat when we upgraded/repaired the damaged systems? Re: OOC
Going by what Bindoner says I don't think there's that much room:Would it make sense for Remington to store "his" drones in the Thundercat?
It's 24 liters of storage, so about a standard school backpack's worth? We could maybe fit a suicide quadcopter in there to pop out at the battledress cat while the robocat is engaging him? Count on making good contact if he's distracted by a whole-ass robo-cat?A carbine might be able to fit in the void, but rifles or bulky assault weapons would not.
Re: OOC
Let's commit to that. It puts the thing under Remington's hand and likely allows the warband another carbine in "their" 'bot.Gorethirster wrote: ↑Thu Jun 22, 2023 1:14 am It's 24 liters of storage, so about a standard school backpack's worth? However, looking for weapons for "Sir Remington" to wield upon his trusty steed have you spotted these in the armoury... ???
10x Assault Pike TL5 Melee (Spear) 4d6 1heft 100cr 2.5kg Shaped Charge;armour halved

Hmmmm?

Re: OOC
Ok, Leon....and me for that. Would love a scrap but I am off on holiday in a week's time, going to the Rock (Gibraltar). So I guess I will stay on the ship with Roberta.
I could act as an emergency reserve. I can listen in on various coms, so we will see what happens. But Leon will help load up the cat, wish all going a good fight.
And
If anyone sees any decent cigars among the loot (you never know) think of old Leon.

Re: OOC
Have a lovely time!
I recall there is a film titled The Rock - but little else. Sean Connery no doubt portrayed a Scottish bloke... there on his holidays??? He must have tipped his camping stove over at some stage as the whole thing was directed by Michael Bay...
While you are there don't forget to keep a weather eye on the Spanish and to feed the RAF Regiment...

Re: OOC
I am not able at all to select something appropriate, I will leave the decision about it to you guys.(OOC: At the bottom of the list there are some neat sights [+ve DMs To Hit] and useful gear (like grenades) in addition to weapons and armour).

Re: OOC
Before I post, can we confirm who's going to pick up your order from Medusa?
At present it seems to be Raven, Tiv and assorted warriors.

Re: OOC
Then for close/short range gunfighting (within 12m) add:
Laser Sight (TL 8): A laser dot pointer can be fitted to most weapons.
It is not useful beyond Short range but at Close or Short range it grants a +1 DM on all hit rolls.
Re: OOC
Oh I have that. Wait I share my stuff:
Equipment:
Radiation Counter (TL 5): Indicates presence and intensity of
radioactivity within a 30-metre radius. The signal will grow stronger
as the detector is brought closer to the source. Cr. 250
Scanner, Comms (TL 8): A handheld communications detector that
allows the user to intercept and listen to (but not jam) radio traffi c.
Scanners cannot decrypt or record transmissions, nor can the device
detect bugs and similar low-power transmitters. Cr. 250.
Cockpit Sensory Suite (TL 9): An augment given to high-G fi ghter
pilots and other fast-vehicle drivers, this genetic alteration thickens
the membranes of the eye, speeds up hand-eye coordination and
enhances blood fl ow to the brain in times of high pressure or stress.
This augment adds +2 DM to all Pilot, Drive, Flyer and Seafarer skill
checks taken at high speeds. Cr. 5,000
Laser Sight (TL 8): A laser dot pointer can be fi tted to most weapons.
It is not useful beyond Short range but at Close or Short range it
grants a +1 DM on all hit rolls. Cr. 200, negligible weight. At TL
10, the use of more advanced optics eliminates the beam-and-dot
signature of the basic laser, at no increase in cost.
X-Ray Outlining Aid (TL 9): Adding a special outlining element to
an existing sighted scope, the fi rer can see exactly where a target’s
body lies behind an obscuring object. So long as the object is not
made of metal, shielded or more than a metre thick the fi rer ignores
any cover or concealment that the target is taking advantage of. Cr.
300. The TL 11 version is more powerful and can function through
up to 3 metres of material.
Cloth, Improved (TL 10): An updated version of Cloth armour,
augmented with inserts at critical points. Improved Cloth is often
used by militaries unable to aff ord combat armour. Its main
advantage over a fl ak jacket is other armour can be worn over the
top, such as a torso protector.
Reflec (TL 10): Refl ective material on a plastic base can be tailored into
a body suit which is ineff ective against most weapons but superior in
defence against laser fi re. Unlike other forms of armour, Refl ec is worn
under other clothing. Refl ec is expensive and often diffi cult to obtain.
Arm Protector, Light (TL 8): A set of upper and lower arm plates with
straps to hold them in place. Usually worn over Cloth armour.
Leg Protector, Light (TL 8): A set of thigh and calf plates of light
metal/ceramic material, off ering some protection against melee and
missile threats. Usually worn over Cloth armour.
Dagger, Stealth (TL 8): A stealth dagger (or ‘invisiknife’) is made
from low-density plastic and is very hard to detect using standard
weapons scanners (there is a –4 DM for it to be detected in this
way). It otherwise functions as a standard dagger.
Combat Arm (TL 8): One of the fi rst combat implants to be
designed, the basic cybernetic combat arm is an armoured metallic
limb designed for combat. Oversized compared to a human arm,
this augment grafts to the existing bone structure of the user and is
powered by small power cells (1 kg; Cr. 25), keeping the arm active
for 300 standard hours. The arm is considered to have an Armour
rating of 8, a Strength of 12 and can be fi tted with any melee weapon
at 10% higher than the weapon’s normal cost. Cr. 25,000
