OOC II
Re: OOC II
That pretty much covers me all the time.

Re: OOC II
Speaking of where we are. Just a reminder that there is a Map thread with lots of different types of maps. Found here:

"We're all lost here." kind of like that quote from Alice in Wonderland "We're all mad here."

Re: OOC II
I have a tendency to throw lots of setting info out to everyone, which at times probably doesn't help much.

Helps me build grandiose plans. Sometimes, the plans even work!

Re: OOC II
It's me, Rex. I'm new to the game and having difficulty getting settled. Now that I realize where we are on the map...how did we get there? Did the group come from the outpost? Was this from the "In Search of a Body" thread?
I'm also trying to figure out how my character came to hook up with them.

Re: OOC II
Honestly, Gary I barely remember how Algrim and Arngeir go to where we are now I know we started on the road joined some sort of merchant caravan or something ended up in one of the local towns and beyond thatI forget why we went looking for the outpost to begin with but it turned into something and others joined the game somewhere in the middle bits.

Re: OOC II
A summary is in order I think.
Algrim and Arngeir started in Southern Kaldor with an Elf named Idril. They headed south on the Genin trail. Came across a caravan recovering from an Orc attack. They aided/joined the caravan and spent the night at the ruins of a Laranian abbey. There they discovered a stash of coins, gems, a dagger and a key left by a paladin when the abbey was still in use. There was some hunting, and much travel south. And most important, much use of psychics to determine the past of the items they had found and it was determined that the key was linked to a lost Dwarven outpost.
The caravan arrived in Meldun and the group meets and adds Turnip, who is searching for a magical bag to complete the pair with the one she already owns. She thinks it is at a lost Dwarven outpost. More use of psychics and the expanded party heads for where they think the outpost is. Just as they locate the area they are attacked by a hunting party of Orcs. The party is victorious after a long battle. They discover the back entrance to the outpost and begin to explore. They discover the outpost is haunted and meet a very old Dwarven ghost. A bargain/quest of sorts is agreed to. The party returns to Meldun to rest and recover while Arngeir heads to Geda to celebrate the biggest holiday of the year for followers of Sarajin. There he meets Murgar the ser. After the feasting with the baron of Geda they return to Meldun. Idril leaves to return to the Elven lands.
The newish party heads back to the outpost to then head north in search of the Dwarven ghosts remains. Near the outpost they encounter Sir Gerolt inspecting the remains of the battle with the Orcs. He agrees to aid the group and they head north. They locate the Dwarvf's body and prepare to return to the outpost, but the shed skin of a drake is found and discussion ensues. It is decided to hunt the drake instead of being hunted.
They track the drake to its lair, there they find the drake preparing an ambush for them on their back trail. They quickly come up with a plan, Sir Gerolt loops around to act as bait, while the others stalk the drake from behind. The trap is sprung and the party once again proves deadly in combat. Killing the Drake. It is skinned and its lair searched, finding some baubles. Volin wanders upon them searching for herbs. He has a much needed mule and is a Dwarf so joins the party.
On return to the outpost the Ghost thanks them and vanishes with his body, laid to rest finally. More discussion.
Sir Gerolt leaves to return to his patrolling. The party gets everything ready to travel and heads for Meldun. At the ruins of Darcen Manor, they once again encounter Sir Gerolt. More discussion...
This is where you are at now. For the record this all occurred in just over a months time.

Re: OOC II
Good summary.
I completely forgot about my tongues spell which gives me 75% harnic for the 30 minute duration. At the end of the spell duration I get to make an improvement roll.
The chance of spell success is 60%. The chance of improvement is 100 +14 - 42 = 72%. Overall I think that gives a 43% chance of skill improvement per casting.
If we wanted to meta-game I could use this mechanism to improve Arngeirs Harnic, while we spend all the hours on improving Gerolts skills.
Of course I understand if Rex rules this option out as unfair.

Re: OOC II
Not unfair, part of the invocation. I just posted the same thing in the thread as I hadn't seen this yet. Even trying once a day will get you there in the not to distant future.
Re: OOC II

Sounds like a plan, that would let us focus the lessons on Gerolts skills.
Re: OOC II
Have a great weekend and good luck with your move Leitz.
Re: OOC II
Absolutely, good luck!!
Re: OOC II
I assume any CS on an invocation allows an improvement roll for that specific invocation but not your ritual skill?
Re: OOC II
We are just using the core rules for both invocations (clerical) and spells (magic). So, you increase Ritual skill or the Convocation skill not the individual invocation/spell. It does make spell casters more powerful (they improve across the board and faster) but is a lot simpler to track and considering the dangers involved in using both (angering your deity and spell failure) my group has always felt it balanced out enough anyways.
So, roll against Ritual not the invocation.

Re: OOC II
I backed it. I have all the hard covers so far.
Re: OOC II
Okay, so I need a little assistance with Turnip's advancement as well. Thing is, I don't have a Adobe writer on my current laptop, so I have a hard time editing her PDF sheet.
I had 2 SMPs left. Somehow I noted 16 SMPs in her personal thread, but I guess those 14 extra was 14 out of the total 28 you gave her in the experience thread? So her new total should be 30 SMPs?
Also I noted
Help me Obi Wan, you're my only hope.

I wonder if I meant Awareness by "Observation"?Awareness: 77 > 78
skill improvement roll for Observation not rolled yet
