Gustov

Gustov thanks Amberlynn again for her ministrations.

"Well, with this wizard type and his note, I say we have two immediate choices. Either we let him think we're going along with it, or we make it clear that we won't and see if he shows himself now. I'm sort of partial to the latter, myself."

Flynn nods in agreement to Gustov.
"I am not one for being dishonest, even to a sorcerer if can be helped. I would have him think what he will as he required no answer, only compliance. But perhaps here..." he gestures to the other patrons, "Is not a good place for such discussion or resolution. "

When the group is silent for a moment, the inn keeper will come forward with a meal for Amberlyn and ask the group thusly: "Shall I go and fetch the Captain then? The way you guys are talkin' bout amassin and army, one would think that you'd be finally taking out those bandits once and for all. I'd be glad to help round up some men with the captain if that be the case!" Tucking the note away quickly, the adventuring group surmises that no one else knows about the contents of the letter and that they all think they are in fact attacking the bandit camp.

Coincidently, the mountain that you guys keep referring to now, the bandit camp surrounds the entrance to it. And if the tunnel leads to the bandit camp like Lump said...

Whitsell asks, Can we rest a day, and hit the tunnel tomorrow? My shoulder needs it, and I have errands?

He will find a suitable location to stow most of his gold, and hopefully get to full hp. Let me know how specific I need to be regarding gold.

While in this strange land, where a lack of distrust amongst others still hangs in the air, one would think to safeguard such things on their own. Being unfamiliar with the area though, Whitsell may have a hard time finding a suitable spot to stash away the majority of his gold. Mayhap check with the local guard? I'm sure that the mayor might have some level of honor and will help safeguard such possessions.

If none of that may strike your fancy, you could find a suitable spot to dig up outside of town and just temporarily or permenantly bury your treasure. Though with that you will run the risk of someone following you and learning of its location. Not sure what other specifics you might be referring to?

Whitsell will go to the jeweller first, and see if he can buy any gems at a worthy rate. Hopefully, if he can exchange 900 GP into 2-3 lbs of quality gems, he should be ok carrying it.

Deceidon will move with the others to one of their rooms for more privacy as the discussion continues.

"If we can't trust hirelings, then I suppose we should infiltrate as best we can ourselves," says Deceidon. "Still I would feel better creating a distraction with hired hands. Perhaps they attack the bandit camp directly, while we slip into the mountain."

Mention is made of how to best carry or conceal our gold. "Let me know if you find a reliable jeweler," says Deceidon to Whitsell. "I would follow similar course."

Flynn furrows his brow.
"The problem with hiring outside help to build an army is that if they are in league they may warn the camp of our plans...of course because of the corpses we left..."
He shakes his head.
"I can lead a crew aboard a ship but ground tactics, troops...this is not a specialty of mine. I do like the idea of a distraction... can we make such work, Deceidon?"

"If we can't trust who we hire, then no," says Deceidon in answer to Flynn. "I for one can't detect evil in people we may hire. Who could?"

Deceidon nods at Whitsell as he steps out to find a jeweler.

"If we think the Captain could hand-pick honest sword-arms, we could at least use them. Perhaps a raid, set the camp on fire, create confusion while we attempt to sneak in by the tunnel," concludes Deceidon.

Here is what I have so far. Whitsell and Deceidon wishes to find a jeweler in town to exchange coin for gem. Whitsell sets out in his search to do so, while Deceidon stays for the conversation at hand. Flynn and the group as a whole ponders the idea of who they can trust in this sort of town when it comes to hired hands. Flynn being more accustomed to small crews of loyal men of the sea, has a hard time going about the whole idea of amassing a ground attack force. Deceidon and the innkeeper mentions the Captain of the guard in town, how he might be able to help with this. Maybe someone they already trust here can help out with this as well... Meanwhile, Gustov still holds on to the thought of the letter's sender, this sorceror of sorts. Should the group follow the letter's outlined plan, or completely disregard it and follow the mission set out by their king. Most of the members of the group lean more towards the latter, but of what potential consequences would that yield? Either way, Gustov starts to think more about his immediate needs as an adventurer, better equipment. He will set out to ask around town for the best that they have to offer, a list very specific to his talents.

This will be the recap update of what's happened so far. I will update this if there are inconsistencies in intentions and or actions.

Technically Deceidon just asked Whitsell to let him know if he finds a good jeweler, as he would do the same (later.) Deceidon stays in the room for the conversation and doesn't leave.

Gustov

"Well, since you fellas will probably tap out whatever jeweler you might find, I expect I'll look for something else to buy.
"Why don't we meet in private later today after we've had time for some shopping?"

Gustov will then ask around about where the finest weapons and armor can be found in the settlement, starting with Amberlyn, but also inquiring of the barkeep and other officials they have met. Specifically he is interested in knives, daggers, bows, arrows, and leather or studded armor.

Noted, will edit the recap to reflect accordingly.

Whitsell's intitial search reveals little of what he seeks. The same sort of folk walk around the streets, shady, but keeping to themselves. A few stores are found with selections particular to their craft (general goods, weaponery, armor, farming tools, tailor... ect.), but none of which points towards a jeweler of any sorts. Merchant stands dot the streets as well, selling oddities from their home lands and such, trash and valuables. A certain stand though catches the warrior's eye. Just on the outskirts of the town, inside a shaded alleyway, littered with trash and debris, a lone person stands watch. Upon closer inspection, the stand boasts a rudimentary decor, a sign of its currently small success, but has a strange appeal. Cases of glass are laid out in front of the stand, on velvet cloth. The contents cannot be discerned from a distance, and the owner is also just as concealed, a dirty towel draped around his face and head, strange apparel considering Whitsell's cultural background.

-----

Gustov, also now out on the streets, looks towards finding some suitable equipment with his coin. The marketplace is quick to find and the shops are tightly knit in the same area. Just as Whitsell has observed, there is your basic armorer and weaponry shop, general supply store, and even a tailor. Once you decide as to which shop you will go to first, I will supply a modified equipment list that your character will be perusing in-store. Due to the nature of the plane of existence you are all in, you will not have the availability of certain items as you would in your home world.

Gustov

Gustov first heads to the weaponry and armor shop, asking into the very best quality wares they have.

*Note that the Mining Pick is the weapon equivalent of a light military pick stat-wise.
**Note that the Pitchfork is the weapon equivalent of a trident. Guard against charge bonuses still apply.

Though the prices and above are accurate, there will be no guaruntees that the ex-bandit merchants will sell them for those prices.

----

The items are all laid out for one to see as they walk into the shop. Though the shop is small, the contents inside fill the room nicely enough. A man in an apron stands in front of the counter and smiles, showing a few missing teeth here and there. "Ah an adventurer! What can I do for you today? As you can see, many of my wares can be found on display. Oh and don't mind the scratches. That just means the stuff works ehahahaha!" Among the items displayed, one can tell that some have indeed seen some use, while other items remain untouched and almost newly crafted.

Whitsell asks the hidden merchant about his company, how business was. (small talk). After a few minutes, he will ask what potential gems he may have available.

Gustov

Gustov looks up at the proprietor after examining some of the stock, "Half a dozen throwing daggers, a mining pick, and I'd like to see any exceptional equipment you have."

Before I give a proper reply to you both, I will need to know whether you guys brought your large share of gold with you... This could very well determine how the conversations will go, and what you might be able to get.
