Yeah, I'm not typically a fan of "race as class" in fantasy games, but if you run this, I'd love to get in on it!

On November 2nd I will be participating in another 24 hour game of Dungeons & Dragons as part of Extra Life. This organization uses gaming to help raise money to donate to children's hospitals. I'm raising money for Marshfield Children's Hospital in Marshfield, WI, and all money I raise will go to that hospital. All donations are tax-deductible. Please take a moment to check out my donation page below. Thank you.

To be very presumptious... Could their be an armor-melting or venom-spitting killer Intelligence dialogue Green or Black Dragon encountered along the way? We only made it to 6th level in high school. I was at 5th Level in Inferno's awesome games. Still, lots of dungeons, but no dragons yet. It's only been since 1979 to 2023 though, I can anxiously wait. "In the old days, we earned it."

All of them interest me for one reason or another, but this one is the top of my list. Primarily because I have never done anything like this before.Starbeard wrote: ↑Tue May 09, 2023 12:42 amThe scales are tipping the more I think it over.![]()
I think we'd start on a tiny island, home to a few seriously dire hazards, and the Maunty Halls of course. Not sure which campaign map I'd create or use, but assuming the game gets off the ground it's bound to move into world hopping, so it might not matter as much.
In my head, all of my games have existed within a loosely defined metacampaign where every map is either part of the same huge world or somehow connected through planar travel—you know, just in case. So eventually, player activity would be what helps decide whether we play in the Flanaess, Known World, Middle-earth, Wilderlands, Fantasyland, Blackmoor, or a homebrewed place.
Re: What would YOU like to play or run? (Interest Catch-all)
Okay, this turns out to not have been the case.
Question, to help streamline my preparations. Would the potential players be more interested in:
- Running T1 (and potentially T-14) straight, as-is; or
- Have the game set with Greyhawk as a sandbox, with the potential to run into T1 (or other published adventures).

I'm okay either way. I tend to play fairly standard characters that go off the rails after chargen.dmw71 wrote: ↑Wed May 17, 2023 8:49 pmOkay, this turns out to not have been the case.

Re: What would YOU like to play or run? (Interest Catch-all)
Either way works for me. Whatever you think works best for you is most important.
Re: What would YOU like to play or run? (Interest Catch-all)
The “risk” of the sandbox approach would be that the group/s never actually run into Hommlet, and T1 doesn’t actually get played.
There would definitely be similar scenarios (and others) that would be obstacles elsewhere in Greyhawk — it just might not be the official thing.

Re: What would YOU like to play or run? (Interest Catch-all)
Would it work if we started at T1, and the setting was Greyhawk? That would give the PCs some ways to link into a known world, but not need effort to get to T1. Start the game at the action, and let the backstory cover the lead in.
Re: What would YOU like to play or run? (Interest Catch-all)
T1 is in Greyhawk. From a player standpoint why not start as T1 and if it feels right later, then transition into a sandbox. I actually prefer even a sandbox game to have a little direction to start with.

I like this approach. I'd hate to end up not actually getting to start T1(-4).

I'd love to join a T1 game if you've got space!dmw71 wrote: ↑Wed May 17, 2023 8:49 pmOkay, this turns out to not have been the case.

Same here, I would be interested if I have the time when this starts up.dmw71 wrote: ↑Wed May 17, 2023 8:49 pmOkay, this turns out to not have been the case.

No matter what approach you take Dave, I think you will have plenty of players.

We may have a bunch of characters at the start, but since it's a 1e game, we'll get winnowed down pretty quickly.

Hey, I'm back!
I'm interested in running 2400, specifically a mashup of Inner System Blues, Project Ikaros, and Resistors.
If you're interested in playing, I am willing to make the rules available to you. I also would urge you to buy them, as you can get an immense package of over 20 (mostly sci-fi) settings with scenario tables, etc. for $6.
