Chp. 2: The Adventure Continues...
Re: Chp. 2: The Adventure Continues...
Luna grabs is long sword and heads towards the commotion. Has it been long enough to memorize my spells?

Re: Chp. 2: The Adventure Continues...
Niles the fighter and Foracor the elf both look out their doors. All the adventurers see a bloodied Brother Bayard stagger out of the room and into the hall, moving down the hall shouting for help. It appears Boddin the hobbit just fired an arrow from his doorway at an unseen target.
On the wall opposite Bayard's room there is a shadow, obviously being cast by someone standing in the doorway of Bayard's lit room. Those who are looking out of their doors do not have the right angle to see who is casting the shadow. Except for the naked Wulfhart, sword in hand, who runs down the hall to see ______! (Check your PM.)

-Wulfhart Asgeirsson, hallway-
The warrior, standing with Bayard's room in his line of sight, freezes for a second as he looks at the doorway. He shakes his head and raises his finger towards the silhouette.
"What have you done, Albertus? Why is this strange look on your face, did you attack brother Bayard?"
That said, only moved by instinct, he swings his bastard sword and attacks the cleric.
[1d20+1] = 7+1 = 8
[1d8] = 4

Fingal awakes in a startled sleepy haze. Tripping over himself and his surroundings he searches for the dagger he seemed to misplace, finding it after a long hassle. He rushes out of the room embarrassed that it took him so long to prepare.

Re: Chp. 2: The Adventure Continues...
Accounting for the time it takes for other adventurers to get out of bed, grab weapon and open door or run out, there wil be one more combat round between Bayard and Albertus. That initiative:
http://www.unseenservant.com/default.as ... e&id=18989. Albertus wins
Wulfhart will go third, as he ran out and down the hall, followed by the others. Actions?

Right, the hobbit was awake before others (played via PM), so roll an initiative and we'll compare that to Bayard and Albertus' roll and fall in sequence.

Boddin will be acting third.

Re: Chp. 2: The Adventure Continues...
Albertus lunges after Bayard. The adventurers are shocked to see one cleric attacking another. These are comrades-in-adventure who have saved each other's lives! Then Albertus' form shimmers as his hand - no, it's now a claw - rends Bayard again (5 HP damage). The party sees that Albertus is now something else...
Wulfhart slashes with his bastard sword but the creature dodges the blow. Boddin steps forward.
Boddin action?
Boddin action?
Re: Chp. 2: The Adventure Continues...
Boddin slashes at the doppelganger with his sword, which only reminds him why he tries never to attack with his sword.

The strange creature-that-was-Albertus falls back into Bayard's room in his dodge of Boddin's blade.
The adventurers press forward.

Boddin strikes with his sword, missing again. "They say the pen is mightier than the sword," he muses. "Perhaps they had my sword in mind. I believe I would do more damage with a sternly-worded letter."

Once again, still somewhere between sleep and wakefulness, Wulfhart poorly fails his attack.

Bayard
Bayard clasps his hands over his wounds, working to staunch the blood flow and backs away allowing his armed companions access to the creature and putting them between he and it.
"It's not Albertus, it's a shapechanger! I thought it strange Albertus was not helping with the healing, I should have sensed it!"
Given that he cast Cure Light Wounds on Fingal this morning, even though he earned second level, he hasn't rested and I assume does not have any spells prepared. In the lucky event he was able to prepare his cure light wounds spells again, he would cast one on himself once he clears himself out of melee.

Once Luna is in range, he cast "Magic Missle' at the creature.

Re: Chp. 2: The Adventure Continues...
The strange humanoid staggers back from the hall into Bayard's room. Brother Bayard retreats past Wulfhart and Boddin who close in to attack. The northern warrior hacks again at the creature, but strikes the doorway. The hobbit's blade slices lower into air.
Luna, Eli and Niles rush down the hall from the opposite end and join the others into the room. They see the monster opening the inside shutters of the window.

Niles slashes and his blade bites deep (7 HP damage). Both Luna and Eli intone elven words of mystic power and missiles of magical yellow energy bolt out from each of their hand to strike the shapeshifter (5 HP from Luna, 2 HP from Eli).
Heavily wounded, the shapeshifter does not attack but instead jumps out the second-story window into the dark night. The elves' infravision see the creature land in a stumbling fashion, pause as if in some pain (6 HP fall damage), then begin to stagger away unsteadily.
Foracor the elf takes Bayard into his room to attend the cleric's heavy wounds. Bayard does not have his healing spells restored at the moment.
Fingal the thief sleepily exits his room and sees blood on the floor and the commotion outside Bayard's door.
Actions?
