Re: CHAPTER 12e: Out of Motter's Realm
Anton and Podo lie as flat as possible on the ground in case the fence doesn't hold. Hopefully the critters will float right over us if they break through.
Re: CHAPTER 12e: Out of Motter's Realm
Gam’A Zone, Motter’s Realm 366D/81 (Mid Day)
The orderly procession of eight smart metal entities approaches your prepared position. The formation splits against the forcefield chevron of the security fence with an ensuing >SNAP< and >CRACKLE< of bright electrical discharge. Several of the sweepers (3) overturn and wildly flail their legs. Smoke belches forth from at least two of them.

The initial contact with the energy barrier affords you a free attack on the gourd-shaped constructs. They appear confused, trying to process what has occurred.
Three have spilled behind the defensive wall, having an unobstructed path into your sanctuary.

Re: CHAPTER 12e: Out of Motter's Realm
Max runs to one of the overturned ones (if it seems safe) and demands, Who are you? What is your mission?
Re: CHAPTER 12e: Out of Motter's Realm
Assuming they are close enough, Denslow hold back his fruit and attacks the nearest sweeper within our shield with his Svetlegk.
Denslow Svetlegk initative [1d20-4]=10-4=6
Denslow Svetlegk attack [1d20+3]=14+3=17, dmg [1d10]=5

Re: CHAPTER 12e: Out of Motter's Realm
Podo takes a defensive stance with his spear hoping to keep the machines at bay.
Anton points his plasma cutter at them like it is a firearm hoping they mistake it for one.

Silvestri
The psion concentrates his attention on the metal creatures in front of them, summoning up his magnetic powers:
Magnetic Control: [1d20+8]=20+8=28
I'd like to use 2 luck points to increase this to a 30: "The mutant can lift any number of ferrous creatures with a STR if 20". So, can he lift them all up and smash them together? If that is not a viable option then he would deactivate three of the unharmed ones

Saiph
The diminutive humanoid reacts to the danger in a way the others haven't seen before, he grimaces, grabs his daggers and leaps on one of the metal creatures coming around the back:
Initiative: [1d20]=6 plus [1d3]=2
Dagger: to-hit [1d20+1]=19+1=20, dmg [1d4]=4
Dagger (off-hand) : to-hit [1d16+1]=16+1=17, dmg [1d4]=4
Since his devolution affect he's become a little more hands on when threatened

Gam’A Zone, Motter’s Realm 366D/81 (Mid Day)
Max dashes out to the nearest capsized entity (blue-green borders) and attempts communication. He recalls Kurot’s assessment that these are most-likely low AI units programmed for mundane tasks. Nevertheless, he shouts at them to try and gain their attention, but to no avail.
Denslow keeps his fruit hanging and decides to use his svetlegk on the nearest sweeper. The blade sings and vibrates as it slides off the metal shell. (2pt. dmg)
Podo and Anton both take a defensive posture against the floating constructs.
Saiph, wielding twin daggers, jumps to action and slashes at one of the intruders behind the defensive line. Both blades connect and glance off the hard exterior. (2pt. + 2pt. dmg)
Silvestri summons his Magnetic Control, initially to lift and smash the denizens, but holds back after his companions move to engage. The psion instead limits the effect and deactivates the three units behind the defensive line. (purple stars, units 3, 4 & 5 deactivate and drop to the ground)

Re: CHAPTER 12e: Out of Motter's Realm
Anton moves to creature 3 by Saiph and tries to flip it on it's back while it is disabled.

The Psion summons his magnetic powers a second time:
Magnetic Control: [1d20+8]=12+8=20
He lifts #7 and attempts to smash it into #2

Saiph holds his action, ready to attack any metal bug that comes around the rear of their defences.
Re: CHAPTER 12e: Out of Motter's Realm
Gam’A Zone, Motter’s Realm 366D/81 (Mid Day)
Denslow swings his polearm, but it glances off the shell of the artificial entity! (Miss)
Max moves to assist his plantient friend, piercing the metal construct near its immobile appendages! (Hit, 7pt. dmg)
Podo gestures his intent from the safety of the security fence.
Anton moves to flip one of the deactivated bugs. He struggles against its mass, but it digs into the ground.
Silvestri summons another charge of Magnetic Control. The psion lifts a capsized denizen and smashes it into another unit, disabling both.
Saiph waits in reserve for an attacker to come closer into melee.
---
The lone active metallion scurries forward and scrambles up Max’s back, scratching wounds through his clothing! (DMG 8)

Re: CHAPTER 12e: Out of Motter's Realm

He wacks at it awkwardly with his spear.

Re: CHAPTER 12e: Out of Motter's Realm
Denslow tries to grab the creature and crush it with his tentacular branches.
Denslow "gimme a hug" tendril attack [1d20+3]=6+3=9, dmg [1d6]=4 (save vs 12 to break free)
Stay still, he scolds Max.

Re: CHAPTER 12e: Out of Motter's Realm
Just so you know, Anton, I made a Strength check to see if "Anton" was able to flip the entity over. I judged he needed an 18 or better. I rolled a 13.

Silvestri
The psion summons his magnetic powers again (I think he is in range without having to move):
Magnetic Control: [1d20+8]=11+8=19
I'll spend a point of luck to bring it up to 20.
He tries to lift the creature carefully off of Max's back and smash it into the ground.

Re: CHAPTER 12e: Out of Motter's Realm
Giving up on flipping the insectoid contraption, Anton looks for an external point that appear to be a sensor or soft spot and goes to work with his hammer!
"Take that, fiend!"
