Amun seems confused, but strangely intrigued, by Chauncey's ramblings advice. Like she was thinking "all of that, in the same room?"

As the others start searching she clenches the hilt of her sword and gets ready for anything with fangs and/or tentacles that might drop from the ceiling.

Grimm makes a pass around the room to try to find traps or any elements of the construction that might reveal anomalies.

Elnaerel decides to show better judgment and stay at the door until someone gives the all-clear signal.

Chauncey pauses in his circumvention of the room to look up and see what, if anything, is revealed by Wesley's beam.

"Heads on a swivel," he says, "I've read reliable accounts of creatures that hide on the ceiling in places like this, then drop down to exchange skin with you before scampering away..."

Dungeon Training

Most of the group moves into the room cautiously, finding no traps or danger, awaiting whatever the druids concentrated light might show.

In the central area of the buttressed ceiling, his light beam reveals something quite concerning hovering hidden up in the shadows.

As soon as the rather large creature is detected, the magical light in the room suddenly goes out. This is quickly followed by a loud roar and the flapping of heavy wings in the darkness.

Grimm's first instinct is to start shouting, but he knows better than to attract a monster's attention. He tries to quickly regain his composure, keep his distance, and take his hand to his sword, although he doesn't unsheathe it.

Elnaerel this time walks forward to join the group. She suspects the creature has the ability to make magic dissipate, so she will abstain from casting any spell for the moment. She gets her morningstar.

Can anything be seen with infravision?

Wes

Wes takes four or five quick steps backwards, aiming to place his back against the wall as close to the doorway as possible. If there's any sign of the flying horror, he tries to cast Faerie Fire upon it. If he can only hear it attacking someone else he points his lantern in that direction and casts the same spell.

Faerie Fire is Verbal only, so Wes can still hold a shield and a lantern while he casts.

Chauncey feels equal parts vindicated and rattled as he shuffles a few steps to the right toward a pillar he remembered being there. Once he touches it, he'll try to put it between himself and the sounds of the massive creature.

Amun gasps as the creature reveals itself and the lights go out. She tries to close in on Wes and his lantern (which still gives off light I suppose?), aiming to stand next to him, but not close enough to accidentally hit him with a sword swing. She then grabs the horn around her neck and blows it.

Dungeon Training

Wes backs away from the room, still shining his focused beam of light at the creature now slowly descending from the vaulted ceiling. Grimm tries to determine if he can detect heat from the monster, but the remaining light from the lantern foils his infravision.

Crabman Luther readies to try out his new large and powerful form against this oncoming threat, bracing for an imminent attack. Amun blows her ancestral horn, yanking out her massive sword, ready to do battle with her friends.

Grimm and Elnaerel remain calm, awaiting the next move from this aerial threat. Chauncey hides behind the closest pillar.

On loud flapping wings, the massive monster descends from the shadowy ceiling at the same time as the magical light in the room returns, illuminating the frightening features of this next three headed beast who suddenly rears back to attack. Wes's spell lights it up even better, ringing the outline with an eerie green glow.

Grimm knows it's now time for action, so he tries to attack the monster from behind.
Long Sword - To hit: [1d20]=9; Dmg: S/M [1d8]=4 L [1d12]=9

Elnaerel in turn attacks it from the front.

Amun grinds her teeth and braces for impact. If the creature comes within striking range she will swing at it with her jagged sword.

Fascinated, Chauncey peeps his head around the edge of the pillar as he intones the words to a spell. Upon completion, from a great distance, almost on the edge of hearing, a titanic voice booms in an alien tongue then fades. From the pillar, two chips of stone break free, spinning crazily, and hurtle towards the monstrosity.

Dungeon Training

Luther, Grimm, Amun, and Elnaerel move in to combat the monster hand to paw, while Wes and Chauncey cast magic spells.

Amun nearly decapitates the goat head before being gored herself slightly by one horn. 2 dam She is then raked by one of the thick lion paws on this strange amalgamation. 4 dam

Luther helps her out by clacking his wicked new pincher claws, taking chunks of flesh from the larger portion of its body. He gets bit viscously by the lion head who seems to favor the flavor of seafood. 7 dam

Neither Grimm or Elnaerel are able to injure the monster, but being up front and center, Elly becomes the sole recipient of the dragon heads worst weapon. The dragon breaths a spout of intense fire directly into the cleric, enshrouding her in superheated flames. 16 dam (you can Save vs, Breath for half)

Chauncey peeks out from behind his pillar long enough to fire two stone chip magic missiles at the mass of the monster, injuring it further. Wes finishes his spell, making himself immune to the fate he just watched his companion take in full force.

Amun

I have no idea what I did to win the favor of the dice gods, but here we are.

Amun, having found an opening with her last slash, roars as she sees her companion getting burned alive and thrusts her sword deep - almost to the hilt - into the soft inner parts of the beast. or that's what I hope

2H sword, to hit with FF: [1d20+5]=20+5=25, damage: [1d10+3]=10+3=13 (SM), [3d6+3]=16+3=19 (L)

Grimm "Damn!" The dwarf screams at the surprise caused by the torrent of fire. He does not let up in his efforts to hurt the monster though.

Long Sword - To hit: [1d20]=13; Dmg: S/M [1d8]=2 L [1d12]=3

Elnaerel

The flaming jet hits the elf violently, who reacts in time by covering herself with her shield so that the damage is not worse.

Saving Throw [1d20]=20

She decides to pull back and place herself behind her companions. Then begins to recite prayers to her goddess to help her allies and harm her enemies.

Elnaerel casts Chant.
all attacks, damage and saving throws made by those in the area of effect who are friendly to the cleric are at +1, while those of the cleric's enemies are at -1

Wes

Wes holds out his right arm, palm down, and calls out "Seek your prey!". A moment later, a glowing green image of a falcon appears on his wrist, immediately leaping into the air. Within a second another follows it. They soar upwards, then with a screech dive on their three-headed target. ( Hunter's Hawk, 1st Level )

Hunter's Hawk (THACO 18) [1d20]=16; Dmg: [1d4]=3 [1d20]=8; Dmg: [1d4]=3

+2 for Faerie Fire. Don't know if the +1 for Chant applies yet.
