2. Welcome to Borovia
Re: 2. Welcome to Borovia
We have a party split! I need everyone except Vorkath and Tumbler to please post ASAP with where they're going: Madam Eva's, Bildrath's, or somewhere else. I'll set up split threads when I hear from all of you. No assumptions made. If you don't post, I nag you until you do.
Re: 2. Welcome to Borovia
Tibbius mouths at the after-taste of the insipid beer. "Faaaghh."
Looking around, he adds, "I'd rather visit a gypsy lady, even a grandma, than wander through a dusty shop in a dreary town. Of all human musicians and dancers, the gypsies come closest to elven. But, fair Tumbler, fear not; if you lack an audience for acrobatics, even the bargaining sort, I'll follow you even into bric-a-brac."

Re: 2. Welcome to Borovia
Robert goes with the gypsy group, "We need some more information and it sounds like they may have some."

Re: 2. Welcome to Borovia
Each group now has a thread in a subforum. Except for Stirling (who hasn't checked in yet), you should each have access to one of them. Please post your actions there. I'll make the threads public and move them to the main Ravenloft forum when the groups rejoin.

Re: 2. Welcome to Borovia
Vorkath / paladin
"I would pay a final visit to Father Donavich, should any care to join," says Vorkath. He'll ride Repentance to the church to get the task done quickly.
Assuming he can find the priest, Vorkath will say: "Father, I come to you for aid, one holy man to another. Tomorrow we go to vanquish Strahd. There is a good chance we may not survive, but we are bound by God and all that is good to try. What could help us greatly is any holy water or healing potions you may have. Will you help us bring Light back to Borovia?"

Re: 2. Welcome to Borovia
We better get indoors and get ready fer another fight.
Re: 2. Welcome to Borovia
Anyone else want to weigh in on where you go next? Darkness approaches...
Re: 2. Welcome to Borovia
Iluq
Iluq eyes the paladin warily, "Vorkath, shouldn't that visit wait until the morning, there's no need to speak with him now, even if he is in the church rather than his quarters."
ooc: Iluq will stick with where-ever the majority of his group that went to Eva's goes.

Re: 2. Welcome to Borovia
Vorkath eyes the sun's position. "Aye, I suppose..."
If he can make the visit and be back to the mansion before dark, he'll do so. The church is 200' from the village center, and the mansion 270' from there, according to the map. If not, then he'll go first thing in the morning when I assume we're all headed to the castle.

Re: 2. Welcome to Borovia
The usually simple matter of the sun's position is something of a mystery in this place. You have seen naught but overcast skies and fog since you entered Borovia. The peaks of the Balinok mountains to the west are lost in the clouds. The skies are already dark gray, however. If the sun has not already passed behind the Balinoks, it will within minutes.
Although you cannot see the sun, you do know that sunset is usually around 5:30 at this time of year.
I'm using the distances in the second map I posted, which is from the 1e module. The first map looks nicer, but it's from the module from 3.5e or 4e, where distances and movement and time are all handled differently (I think). The scale in the second map is 1 hex = 200 feet. So it's about 600 feet from the central square to the church and about 1500 feet from the church to the Burgomaster's house. Including time to deal with horses, etc., I've been having it take one turn to travel between the square and either the church or the Burgomaster's house (and, of course, 2 turns to get from one to the other).

Re: 2. Welcome to Borovia
With dark falling quickly, Vorkath will visit Father Donavich in the morning.
I hadn't scrolled down past the first map

Re: 2. Welcome to Borovia
Good point. I moved the official map to be the first in the thread.
Re: 2. Welcome to Borovia
It sounds like you're heading indoors, but I need a destination. Do you go back to meet Ireena and Ismark at the Burgomaster's house? Do you inquire about lodgings at the Blood? Or do you go somewhere else?
Re: 2. Welcome to Borovia
Robert wonders, Should we head back to protect Ireena again? Or do you think we're now targets and should hold up in the church?"
Re: 2. Welcome to Borovia
Tibbius scoffs. "I think little of that church or of the villagers, generally. If the church offered any shelter, I expect the Koljaviches would have sheltered there. As for the villagers, their guts hold nothing more than vaunting threats against the devil's victims. Only the gypsies seem to have stomachs. What did you learn from them?"

Re: 2. Welcome to Borovia
Tumbler scoffs at the mention of the gypsies. Bah not much use there. They claim t have a potion to get through the fog without choking. I bet its a load of expensive shite. If it was that easy no one would be here.

You continue to stand in the town square discussing your destination for the night. Vorkath suggests a return visit to Father Donavich, but reconsiders when he notices how dark it has become. Robert wonders whether you should return to the Burgomaster's house to protect Ireena, or if you are targets and should hold in the church overnight. Tibbius scoffs at the church and the villagers. Tumbler scoffs at the gypsies.
As you discuss your next move, three large black wolves of the type you faced last night approach from the south. They are running straight toward you.

Re: 2. Welcome to Borovia
Tumbler lets out a curse Dammit, this is what we get for standing around scratching our asses when we shoulda gone inside!!
We fires off a bolt at the wolves, wishing he had taken some time to practice first.
