In search of a body
Re: In search of a body
Turnip studies the marker, seemingly very interested.
"Three feet?! He really was sitting on it when they got him? That's a strange coincidence, don't you think? I mean he must have travelled for days, and then they drop him right next to this stone. Who knows, maybe it means something."
She seems lost in thought for a while.
"Do you think his body will...come to life? Sir Gerolt, maybe The Lady can sanctify this grave first? I don't want to become a gulmorvin!
Awareness skill development roll vs 77: [1d100+11]=5+11=16 alas

Re: In search of a body
Rex, here are the four rolls if you still need them...
[1d100]=35 [1d100]=4 [1d100]=41 [1d100]=36
What would Gerolt's response be to Turnip's question?

Re: In search of a body
Gerolt can make 1 skill improvement roll for Awareness.
He doubts it will mater much but can say a prayer over the grave. Keep in mind he is a holy warrior not a cleric.

Re: In search of a body
Arngeir grabs his shovel and starts digging
"Think he was buried here for reason. Come on, won't dig itself. Who else with shovel?"
Awareness improvement rolls
Percentage: [1d100]=9
Percentage: [1d100]=8
Nope, as usual

Re: In search of a body
If there is shovel available Gerolt will join in the digging
Re: In search of a body
I just checked everyone's equipment and the shovel is the only digging implement. You do have daggers and axes but I don't think you are in a time crunch or desperate.
Re: In search of a body
Turnip seems to have second thoughts.
"Hold on for just a minute here. Are we sure this is such a good idea? Graves should not be disturbed, right? Nothing good will come out of this, maybe we just forget about it?"
She does seem a little pale, almost sick, legs hardly supporting her anymore.
"What if he turns against us. A ghost! We'll be chanceless, doomed!"

Re: In search of a body
Arngeir continues digging
"If body comes alive, will lose head with shovel. If ghost gets uppity I go to spirit plane and make it go away. Now stop worrying."

Re: In search of a body
Arngeir digs for a while, finally hitting a large stone that will need to be pried out about 4 feet down. After dusting some of the earth off he sees a rune carved into stone that he does not recognize.
Re: In search of a body
Arngeir lifts the stone out and keeps going, but rather than digging down he spreads out hoping to uncover more stones.
"Stone has rune. Was told would be stones over body."

Re: In search of a body
Algrim takes a look at the rune to see if he can make anything out from it.

Re: In search of a body
Algrim recognizes it as a rune used to mark and protect graves. It is usually placed closest to the body, identifying text would be outside or on the exterior of a grave under normal circumstances. In this case it was a rushed job.

Murgar
Chuckles at Arngeir's comments on bodies and ghosts.
Helps him get the stone out and takes a look at it to see if he recognizes it.
Will let him know he can take a turn at digging.

Re: In search of a body
Turnip prances restlessly around a tree some good ten fifteen yards away from the digging site.
"I will not stand by watching you getting mauled by some revenant, I will not!"
She catches her breath.
"Curses! Did you think about curses? I heard that as much as touching a gravestone can give you grave rot which will make your fingers and toes go black and fall off!"

Re: In search of a body
Algrim informs the others "Well that'd be a grave marker albeit a hasty one." he points to the rune covered stone.

Re: In search of a body
Arngeir cleans the stones off and spreads his digging out, uncovering the hastily built stone sepulchral. Then Algrim and Arngeir begin carefully removing the stones, 1 by 1. Slowly exposing the skeleton of a dwarf. He has clearly lain here for a very long time, everything long ago rotted away except a rusted iron pendant/holy symbol of Sereniel*.
* Sereniel is "The Judge of Stones", he is the demi-god who intercedes on behalf of the Dwarves in Seim's court and judges their souls when they pass away.

Re: In search of a body
Arngeir straightens, stretching tired muscles.
"Friend Algrim, is prayer or ceremony for respectful of dead for your people?"
